I needed to replace an iPhone 7 without spending a lot of money, and without feeling like I took a serious down grade. I can proudly say I got a phone that is significantly cheaper, and that I enjoy significantly more. It executes everything in a snap, with no lag (like the iPhone 7 after I updated the software...), has a solid screen brightness (can see while I’m hiking), is backwards compatible onto 3G networks, and has an INCREDIBLE battery life. The turbo charger isn’t just some overzealous hype - this little guy charges soooo much faster than any electronic Ive ever used. A common pitfall in the budget phone game is the camera, and for a 200 dollar phone this camera is incredible. It still might be quite as great as an iPhone 7 camera, but it doesn’t miss the mark by much. Not enough to justify spending a gagillion more dollars, and get back in apples little hardware/software prison. The Moto Gestures leave a lot of folks jealous - just make a “chop chop” motion and the flashlight turns on, and do a little “twist twist” to turn on the camera, and a “three finger press” will take a screen shot. Shizzam, this phones too legit. I couldn’t be happier, glad Motorola is back in the game. After thoughts / Pro tips: Get a rugged poetic case (will survive drops, yet it doesn’t smother your microphone - so people can hear you on the other line), get the WRIO keyboard (google keyboard is bad news), DuckDuckGo browser, Signal messenger for SMS, ProtonMail app for email, webroot security to avoid malware on a budget (make sure you get a deal, got mine for 20$), cover up that selfie cam, and stay away from the clouds. Choosing the right apps ensure you remain the consumer, which is really to ensure you dont become “the product” those “free” apps sell in the form of information ;)

So far I have been extremely pleased with my Moto g6. I highly recommend it and it has received great reviews from those that know. I can't imagine that a more expensive phone would have much if any added value unless you are a complete phone geek or a member of the MacIntosh/Apple/iPhone 'cult'.

The phone is fast and takes great pictures, but I dropped it about 1 feet fall and the entire glass back shattered. Really poor design decision for a budget phone! Get a tough case for this fragile phone.

Hi James215, I understand how it feels to have your phone broke its screen. The screen is made of glass. All glass is fragile and can be broken when dropped. We suggest users using a protective case to give more protection on the phone. You can send in your device for repair to have the screen replaced: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/mcp/service/ -Jess MotorolaMobility

Yes it's possible to pay far less than the nearly $1000 for a smartphone and still get all the power and features you need and want. Fast, easy to transfer, still has an earphone jack and slot for an SD card. Great screen resolution and camera takes great pics (see attached)

The Moto G6 is a decent phone for the price, which was on sale at the time. The screen has about 10% more surface area than my Blue.

I tripped and fell on my G-6 and had to purchase another. This is a great phone. Important to me is the ability to shake the phone and the camera comes on. Never miss those shots that are gone by the time you turn on the camera and it takes take awesome pictures. Another plus when in a rush is a hatchet motion turns on the flashlight.

Great value, best cell phone I've owned

I've owned many cell phones since 1997, mostly on Sprint network. When my LG G3 died after only 3 years, I wanted something different than the Samsung and LG units I've used, and I didn't want to spend a lot of money. After reading many reviews, I went with the mid-priced units of Motorola, in my case the Moto G6. I am very pleased with the phone (about 2 weeks of use). What I particularly like: 1 - It is unlocked - easy for me to switch carriers if I want, handles both GSM and CDMA, and doesn't come with the Sprint bloatware that you can't delete. 2 - Build, appearance show high quality, and size and weight are perfect for me, allows me to slip into jeans pocket no problem. 3 - Clean Android implementation, very easy to use phone without junk I don't need. The Moto features (shake for flashlight, twist for camera, etc.) are perfect - increase ease of use without getting in the way. I really like where I can wave my hand over the phone and the screen shows time, battery, and notifications briefly. 4 - this is a great value at $229 compared to my other options. 5 - Screen has great color, contrast and resolution, I enjoy watching Netflix movies on it. 6 - Front facing speaker is great, loud enough for my old ears. Bluetooth works great with my Bose headphones, and headphone jack is great with my Sony travel headphones. 7 - Processor speed is fine for me, I don't notice any lag. I don't play video games though. 8 - The Moto turbo charge is fast, and I like the USB-C cords. I found the Motorola authentic home and car chargers are very reasonably priced (unlike other manufacturer's units) so I got a few to keep around my house, in my work briefcase, and in my car. Comments on negatives you read in reviews of this unit: 1 - Battery life is excellent for me. I keep data, wifi and BT off unless I'll need to use them. I turn BT on for me 30 min drive to work, then off during the work day. I use the phone a little at lunch time (data & screen). I'm usually at 95% or so battery by the time I head for home, when I turn data, wifi and BT back on. The other day I watched several hours of Netflix and still had 70% battery. This is actually the best battery performance of any cell phone I've used. 2 - The entire phone is Gorilla Glass 3, so I expect it can handle minor drops but would probably break if abused (drop from shoulder height onto concrete). However, I bought a $10 Tudia case which provides drop protection to military standards and is sleek and stylish as well, and a glass screen protector. Covers up the beauty of the phone a bit, but I don't have to worry about scratches. 3 - The 32 GB is fine. 7 GB is used for system programs and even my many apps and data use only another 7 GB, so I'm less than 50% used (even including a few hours of downloaded Netflix episodes) I put in a 64 GB SD card where I put over 200 iTunes albums (22 GB). I"ve got plenty left. 4 - It is water resistance, but not water proof. The Moto X4 is water proof, so if you need that it is only a little more money. I just want it splash resistant, if I drop it in the bathtub that's my own fault. 5 - Camera seems fine for me for some snapshots or to document/scan something. I didn't care about the camera that much, other than to have one, as photography is my hobby and I have many other cameras. Overall, this is a great phone at a great price. Best Buy made the purchase pleasant and painless, though they didn't have the right sim card for it so I had to stop at my local Sprint store for that. That was due to Sprint, not to BB. And Sprint installed the sim and set it up for me for free, so I have only good things to say for both BB and Sprint related to this phone. Good luck to all in your purchase decisions!

I have had this phone for 3 days and am happy to have made the purchase. Not only is this reasonably priced for a 32gb smart phone but the speed and operating function has been nothing but positive. Battery life is good. Touch pad is sensitive but not overly so for my use. It does much the same as most Android phones and I have had no issues with downloading apps. I have used Samsung for many years and did try the Motorola over a year ago but the width cramped my hand. This phone is slimmer and I should be receiving my case and glass screen shield in the mail soon for added protection. Audio is good quality and has a Dolby feature. Overall very pleased with this phone. Switching from one phone brand to another is an adjustment but not too much. Highly recommend. Great price, as I said for what you get without contract. This is an unlocked phone. As an added note, the phone calls are crisp and clear. This is most important, of course.

There are a lot of great phones out there if you are willing to pay a lot. The Moto G6 gives them all a run for their money while maintaining a budget friendly price. I particularly like the camera portrait mode that utilizes the dual rear cameras, this gave excellent results beyond my expectations. Compared to my last phone apps seem to install fast! Everything runs smooth and I have had no problems so far on the Sprint network. I like that it is unlocked and I can easily pop in a new Sim to switch networks. Charging is super fast also and then the battery lasts the whole day and more. My only gripe is that the back is glass and feels a little slippery when holding in one hand. I solved this by using a case but then this does hide how nice the shiny glass back looks, I guess you can't have it both ways! Overall this is a great phone for the price.

    Got tired of stolen Iphones

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I have been an IPhone user since the IPhone 4, after the 3rd IPhone stolen I got tired of it and decided to go for an inexpensive one. It has been a culture shock coming from the clean IOs to the disruptive Android, but so far so good. I find the ads quite annoying but it is not the phone's fault. Also I have tried the Moto Voice beta but sometimes it doesn't work, I am assuming it is on testing mode still. And the "ok google" is nothing compare to Siri. As far as the phone goes, it doesn't seem strong enough but I have not dropped it yet. I do think that the back is very delicate, I had the phone with my keys in my pocket and it is already scratched (the back of it). so I must buy a cover for it. I have to say I do not miss the IPhone that much, the phone has all the features an IPhone could have and for the price is great. The only reason I don't give it a 5 is because is too delicate in my opinion. But for the price I would certainly buy it again, it is either a 1000 dollar IPhone or a 200 dollar phone...
