I have always liked Motorola but switched to Samsung a few years ago to a Galaxy S5 thinking that Motorola smartphones seemed limited and not as durable. I did research for about a month before I opted on this phone. I am very happy with my purchase. I have only had it about a month but so far it far surpasses Samsung for my needs. Had it not been for this phone, I probably would have gone with an iphone given Samsung's recent issues. The camera quality is excellent. The JBL speaker mod is loud and clear. With the power bank mod I can go 2 days on a single charge. My only complaint with my purchase is that I was not informed that my monthly line charge with Verizon was going to double. I opted to pay $300 for this phone & take the 2year contract. Thinking I was getting a little bit of a discount. Wrong! I had been month to month for 2 years and my line charge was $20 per month. Nowhere on my bill did it ever indicate that I was getting a discount for not being in a contract. I am on the "new plan". When I switched to the new plan all of my prior discounts were taken away. I was never informed that the monthly line charge would change. I should have known because despite taking my previous discounts away I was saving $18 per month. Not anymore. My line charge jumped from $20 to $40 and the part of my customer agreements that showed this was a tiny footnote reference next the words. Smartphone/basic phones $20.00. Verizon does not offer a reduced price for taking the contract route. Whether you choose the payment plan or contact, you still pay full price for the phone.

At first I was reluctant to purchase the phone. The sales associate showed me all the features and the unbreakable screen. Wow! However, I was impressed with the attached speaker system and attached battery pack.

I had read that the camera was just so so on the Moto Z family, but after having the Z for little over a month and taking numerous pictures with it I'm impressed. Oh and I can text, YouTube and play online with it too. Great phone so far!

I have no problem whatsoever with this tv. It looks great, speakers are ok, I have a Bose system, but the TV doesn't have analog outputs, so I ordered a converter for digital output. Was a great price, had a $100 gift card from purchasing a Moto Z-Force Droid, so paid only $299. The chromecast works great, has no issues, on any of my devices. Would prefer the legs be a little more sturdy, but we're gonna hang it soon. Would definitely recommend this tv!

I traded in my Note 7 because I did not want to have an exploding phone. I saw some alternatives and I really loved this phone. One thing I have to say is I returned the phone to Best Buy because it only had 32GB storage. I ended up ordering from Motorola. That's how much I love this phone. The mods are great! The JBL speaker has great bass and sound! The wireless charging battery back is also great for heavy users.
I do not know if it is a Best Buy thing of a Motorola thing but they should have the 64GB option and the White/Gold option in store.
Pros: Battery life is great even without the added battery mod. The design is sleek and nice and I do love the wood backplate that comes in the box. The camera is good! I wouldn't say that it is better than the Note 7 or S7. It has Moto gestures which I am still working with but you can activate the camera or flashlight with certain motions of the phone. Android runs really crisp on this phone. With Turbocharge you can get a good amount of charge in 30 minutes. People actually hear me clearly I think it is because of the two microphones on the bottom of the phone.
Cons: It still has Verizon bloatware. For some the price might be a negative. The screen scratches easily so get a tempered glass protector. The home button only acts as a fingerprint scanner. Maybe weird for me because I've always used it as a home button. The front facing speaker is not as good as other smartphones I have owned. Maybe because they want you to buy the JBL mod.
Overall I am excited and would recommend this phone to people! Just talking to the Best buy mobile reps they did say there would be more mods coming.

I've never been a fan of glass on phones. Why would you want glass on something that you will drop? I knew with my next upgrade I wanted a non-glass screen. Other things I wanted were:
Snapdragon 820, 3 or 4 GB of RAM, at least 32GB of Storage, MicroSDXC slot with Android Adaptive Storage support.
The Moto Z Force Droid meets and/or exceeds all my requirements. This is by far the best phone I've ever had!
The battery life is excellent! I haven't had to charge it more than once in a day and I can almost go two days with lots of use.
This phone doesn't just last long, but it does so in style with incredible speed and smoothness. I thought it was just me but I did some digging and found a review, I think it was on Anandtech, that explained some reasons why it may be faster than other Snapdragon 820 phones. One was that the graphics drivers are newer than on other phones and that helped the graphics performance signifcantly. Another reason is that it has faster storage than pretty much anything else. In fact the storage in the Moto Z Forcce Droid is faster than in other phones with the same physical storage chips in it. Moto must have done something special with the storage subsystem. Anyway, whatever the reason is this phone is fast and I've extremely happy with the performance of it.
The camera in this phone is excellent! I've read that it was very good but I was surprised how good it was when I took a picture of my daughters at mini-golf in the evening. The picture came out very well and very bright in spite of what I thought may not be great lighting. The camera also starts very fast.
I also love the use of the low power contextual awareness processor in this phone. I can wave my hand over it to see if there are notifications - I also like the way I can touch one to see details. I also really like the way I can twist the phone twice to start the camera. It starts the camera very fast and you can take a picture almost instantly. The low power natural language processor also works great! I don't use it often but I've been using it here and there. It's handy to not even touch the phone can call out a search request or ask it a quick question that it can answer. I haven't noticed a drop in battery life since enabling and/or using these features.
While I don't have any Moto Mod add-ons I think it's a great option to have and the most elegant way to add an external battery to any phone.
The display is great! I love the 5.5" screen size and the resolution is of course very high so everything looks very sharp and crisp. The screen is bright and I've never had any problems seeing it. I think the colors look accurate too. I'm using it on "vivid" color mode.
I think this is by far the most under-rated phone! I strongly recommend it!

I returned a Samsung S 7 and thought I would give this Moto Z a try.. I had 2 other Motorola phones in the past and never has an issue.
First off this has to be the best Motorola to date.
The size is just right and it fits in my hand perfectly.
The camera is not to bad but the quality is not up there with the S7. (But the S7 will not have the ability to snap on a Hasselblad )
The sound quality while on calls seems to be good. When using the speaker phone option the speaker seems top break up. They just released an update to fix sound quality but i have not tried it since I installed the update.
The build quality is right up there with the rest of them. The only thing that I can't understand is Why they couldn't give the phone a water resistant rating. I called Lenovo/Moto and they could not answer my question as to how water resistant it is. They just said that it can with stand light splashes and maybe a light rain. Well heck a non coated phone can with stand that. My son dropped his phone in the lake and after a day or so it still worked.
Even the new iPhone 7 is IP67.
The one down side to the phone is there is no headphone jack.they do give you the adapter but there is no way to charge your phone while you have the adapter connected. I rarely use the 3.5 mm jack because i stream music through my car radio.
I guess it came down to Thin phone or headphone jack. I would rather have the thin phone.
There are endless possibilities with the ability to add mods.
I got the JBL Mod with my phone and i have used it a few times and it adds a little more volume and better sound over the built in speaker.
i would definitely go with the Z Force due to the bigger battery.even if you get the battery mod it will give you that much more juice in case your using the headphone adapter on a trip and don't have to worry about the phone going dead.

This phone is amazing. The battery life is incredible, the screen is superb (much brighter and more vibrant than my old DROID Turbo), the phone is quick and responsive, and overall I am hard pressed to find any major flaws with it (okay, the fingerprint scanner is ever-so-slightly crooked, but I can live with that).
By the way, I love the fingerprint scanner! Motorola is a bit late to the game here, but they finally added it and it works perfectly so far. One of those things that makes you wonder how you ever got by in life without it...
One thing I had been hesitant about when initially looking at the Moto Z and Z Force is how big the chin is. Professional reviews I read gave it a pretty hard time for this, but I find that I actually like it. Yes, it makes the phone quite tall, but it also gives me a place I can grab the phone without touching the screen and I think it makes the back/home/cards buttons easier to reach with my thumb when holding the phone normally.
My wife got the regular Moto Z, and in comparison, hers is much sleeker and more slender than the Force. It's a beautiful and impressively thin phone. It feels better in the hand too, because it's just less bulky. However, for me personally I would not trade the bigger battery and shatterproof screen for that.
A caution to anyone considering this phone - it has Motorola's 2nd generation "Shattershield" shatterproof display. The first version was on the DROID Turbo 2 and you could buy replacements for the outermost layer of the screen, which scratches much easier than Gorilla Glass. It was essentially a built in screen protector. So far I haven't seen any confirmation or availability of replaceable outer screen layers for this one so I put a tempered glass screen protector on it for now, in case they don't end up selling replacements. As a brief side-note, the tempered glass also feels a bit better/smoother than the plastic-feeling shatterproof screen so I'm happy doing that.
Moto Mods. Awesome. Finally. Do you really need them? No, nobody NEEDS Moto Mods. Are they an incredible innovation? Yes. And well-executed too. In my opinion the Mods themselves are priced significantly too high to really take off in the market, but hopefully if the concept doesn't completely die off in 6 months it will become something of a standard and drive accessory competition. Anyway, aside from price, the Mods are quick to change, instantly integrate with the phone, and just work! The Moto Z and Z Force come with a "Style Mod" in the box, which is basically just a nice looking wood backplate (the black Z comes with a dark wood and the white one comes with an oddly chosen grayish wood back which doesn't match the phone whatsoever). When I want to listen to some music and I'm not near my regular speakers, I pop off the backplate and snap on the JBL Soundboost Moto Mod and just like that, I have much better sound. Full disclosure, I'm a slight margin shy of being an Audiophile, so please understand that the JBL speakers are pretty bad quality for speakers in general, but excellent for being as small as they are and attached directly to a phone. For the extreme portability I find them fully acceptable. In the near future I plan to purchase one of the battery Mods for those rare times when the 3500mAh built in battery is just not enough (and for my wife to use since her Moto Z battery is quite a lot smaller). I will not buy the projector, because $300 is absurd, and I can only think of very few circumstances where that would actually be useful. I hear it works pretty well though, so, if you frequently need to present/project something then maybe it is worth it for you. I also can't wait to see what other Mods they come up with (rumors have it there will be more Mods announced in the next few weeks).
Other thoughts:
- As usual, Verizon adds plenty of bloatware to all their phones including this one, although I think it was less than on my DROID Turbo. I usually just go through and disable and uninstall most of the Verizon apps and any other strange apps that come out of the box (a couple of uninstallable games and a few other things).
- Android is nearly stock. I love this about Moto phones. I can't stand TouchWiz or Sense or whatever other bizarre nonsense phone manufacturers are obsessed with cluttering up phones with.
- The few things Moto does change or add I generally find very useful and well designed.
I don't know if this is the "best" Android phone available or not, I'm sure that's largely opinion based, but I will say that it is fantastic and is certainly the most interesting phone on the market with essentially limitless possibilities for Moto Mods.
If you have a legitimate question please comment on my review and I'll do my best to answer!

I would really give this phone a 4.5 star rating! Though let me tell you about my usage before I get into the phone itself.
So, I use Spotify Premium and I have all of my music downloaded onto my phone, and I play my music for about 5 hours a work day, and stream the music to my blutooth speaker I do NOT use any battery saver, I do not turn off Blutooth, Data, Wifi, nothing. the phone is at ~80% brightness constantly. (Though is off most of the time) During breaks and lunch I get on Facebook and Google and whatnot. So about an hour of screen on time to make calls, texts, and go on the web. I have the Wood back, the JBL speaker, and the battery pack for this phone.
The phone on a workday...
This is the most beautiful and well thought out device that I have ever used. The shake gestures (Chop-Chop for flashlight, two wrist-twists for Camera, etc.) are extremely useful! I'm an I.T. analyst, I often have to crawl in dark spaces to play with cables and whatnot. Here is when you take my usage into account; it is an absolute trooper with the Tumi battery pack, and easily gets the job done without. When I get home (with power pack, the power pack will keep the phone at 80% unless you set it otherwise) so when I get home after a workday, the phone is at 80%, and the power pack is at about 55%. And sometimes, I don't charge it at night, and it's still does a great job the next day, though towards the end of the day the phone's battery is at about 25%. Without the pack, with my usage, I get home with about 65% left.
The phone when not at work...
It's great! With the power pack, it lasts throughout the weekend very, very easily. On the weekends I do the usual stuff, Calls, texts, web browsing and whatever on it. Motorola really means it when they say the phone has Turbo Charging, the phone is charged from 1% to 100% in less than an hour. The HD calling sounds great with the front facing speaker, music, ringtones and media all sound very rich (for a phone) with this front facing speaker.
Now for the bad...
It's pretty easy to scratch this phone. I highly recommend you designate one pocket for the phone ONLY. No spare change, no keys, knives, anything but that phone.
Overall...
4.5/5 stars. I love this phone. Motorola-Lenovo (Lenovo owns Motorola) says they will go forward with this design. All the accessories you buy will be usable in next year's device they claim.

Love the new Moto z droid force. I was already a fan of the Motorola after the Moto x saved the day when my iPhone took a crash. Love the size of the phone (a little larger then most) and the pics are great. They had a free Moto mod promo which scored me the mega cool projector. Love this thing! We play movies on the garage and while camping. Halloween projection through the windows and up on the wall. The screen can be really small up close and can fill the whole garage when set back a bit. Such a cool feature to this phone. One thing I don't like is there is no headphone jack. It comes with a cport but it is really annoying to have to carry around an additional piece. Easy fix with some wireless headphones. The finger print sensor works surprisingly well too. Pretty much recognizes the first try every time. You can't turn it off though. If u do it will make you password protect and will have to enter every time you want to look at your phone. Not so good when my 6 year old wants to use the phone and can't unlock it. She has since learned the password but still would be nice to have the option to turn it off. The phone automatically resets if the password attempts exceed a number of incorrect entries. Make sure your info is backed up. I also had a problem with it not charging after a few weeks of using the phone. It just stopped charging and then couldn't turn the phone on. Went to best buy and they couldn't do anything since I didn't buy the extended warranty. Note the prior iPhone crash that did have an extended warranty which just so happened to expire a few weeks before. Hence the hero Moto x swooped right in. The manufacturer warranty on the moto z is only for 15 days. Of course the charging problem happened on day 18. Fantastic. Only 3 days after the not so generous 15 days they give you. Had to pay $25 and a $500 security deposit for an advanced exchange. Otherwise I would have to send in the phone still be charged the $25 AND be out of a phone for 5 - 10 days. Was disappointed that I had to pay anything for using it only for less than a month even though it was only $25. Nevertheless I do enjoy the phone and would purchase again over the Samsung or iPhone any day. I have apple products as well but Motorola just seems to have everything I desire in a phone.

To be honest I had really lost a lot of respect with Motorola with the Turbo and Turbo 2. Not only was the phone lack luster but the call quality was horrible. Since the purchase of the Z force my faith is being restored. I am certainly not an apple or Samsung fan and have always been partial to Motorola. But this device is quick, battery seems good. The display is very impressive. The mods change the whole face of the phone. I can go to the garage snap in the jbl speaker and listen to some of my favorite tunes. Or my wife and I can set out on the deck with the projector and watch whatever we want while hanging out with our houseful of puppies. Seems to me its hit every aspect I was looking for!!!

So, I've been looking at going back to a Motorola phone because my first smartphone was a DROID X on Verizon. I got to 2 different Verizon stores over a two day period. No-one helped me since I wasn't buying an IPhone or a Samsung(!). I look on bestbuy.com and decide to just see what they've got. Boy, am I glad I did! Not only did I get a $100 Best Buy gift card, but 2 mods for FREE. The JBL speaker and the extra battery pack. Perfect, exactly what I wanted! They so have earned my business. I was told they do these specials on Sundays. Anyway. about the phone.
Incredibly thin and fast. Great colorful display you can alter to a more realistic setting if AMOLED is too much. The screen is shatterproof, though I don't want to find out! Very zippy, pure Android experience. So little Verizon bloatware AND you can delete all those games you might not like, but they put on anyway. Very clean experience.
Speakers are good and loud. The JBL is unreal. Just floors me. I'm a musician so this is like carrying a mini beat box around! I haven't had to try the extra battery pack since the battery life is so good. The extra pack is 2,220 mah and the phone is around 3500 mah. So, more than enough. Camera is great, you can select different megapixel values so it doesn't take up too much space on 21 mp. 4k video capabilities, HD at 30fps and 60 fps...just great customization. I'm really amazed at how far Motorola has come over the years.
The Moto gestures are cool as heck, just know they drain the battery a little faster. Chop twice for the flashlight...twist twice for the camera...move your hand over the display for quick notifications...I use that a lot! Very convenient!
I went back and forth on getting this or the Droid Play, which is cheaper. The better camera and shattershield glass sold me on the Z Force.Check out your local Best Buy...VERY happy with my purchase!!!

This phone is a replacement of my Droid Turbo 2. I wanted another phone with similar if not better battery longevity. The moto z force has stood up to heavy use and i got 12 plus hours, for moderate I got 16 plus hours. Light use should easily last 24 hrs easily. Love the turbo charging. HAs worked great for when I've had 30% and was going for a long ride in the woods. Turbo charged for 25 min ride the park and I was at 75%. Plenty to get me thru 11 mile 2 1/2 hour ride with strava running. The new updates have added more real estate on the screen. I can now consolidate from 3 pages to 2. I like having most of my "must haves" on the home page for quick access and now i can. I haven't gotten the battery moto mod yet but it is another reason for choosing this phone. I plan on getting one for when i am at the race track watching formula 1 I don't have worry about battery dieing in the middle of trying to capture the action. As far as app speed, its quick navigating around. Very responsive. Love the shrink feature for one handed navigation. It is a bit slick/slippery but i plan on getting a bumper case and full case when not using moto mods. New button locations are much more intuitive. Having he power button below the volume buttons is a lot easier to reach. Thumb print reader is another awesome feature. Quickly unlock/lock the phone with a touch of a finger. They really have put a lot of thought into making this phone a work horse. For me i like a task oriented phone, more then just playing games. This phone accomplishes both capabilities. Pictures are clear and the new pro features is cool to adjust the ISO, WB, etc to get that perfect pic the way you want it.
Definitely recommend if you want to phone done your way ;)

Build quality is top notch, the modularity is a huge bonus to buying this phone, but as a standalone smartphone it's a flagship it has everything a top tier phone needs, QHD AMOLED screen, a day and half battery life (3500 mah) and if you don't think that'll get you through the day the turbo charging on this thing is insane, it's fast (4 GB RAM, snapdragon 820), loud/clear front facing speaker, a nice 21 mega pixel camera, and expandable storage. On top of all that the Moto mods and future Moto mods, and Moto gesture for quick actions, this phone is great period.

Since I had an LG G4 that I went through 2 death and replacements, I pre-ordered this phone and picked up on launch day. Got $200 off and the free speaker. I am an Android-only person and the S7 just didn't do anything for me. Reading that it scratches easily, the slight curve meant glass screen protectors wouldn't fit or looked awful, and my friend's has horrible battery life. I decided on this phone instead. I am very happy I did. The battery lasts all day for me with moderate use, screen is great, phone is super fast. I love the JBL speaker attachment and it gets a lot of envy from my friends. The build quality is excellent. It feels substantial, well made, and materials are nice with metal and glass. The camera is overall very good, but could stand improvement in some areas. The Samsungs are better in low light. I like the front flash, but the photos come out grainy or not great sometimes. Sometimes the back camera has a hard time focusing at night. Overall though, photos are above my standard - just not a bit behind the Galaxy cameras. I love the gestures to turn on the flashlight/camera, the Moto display, and how clean the overall interface is. I came from Samsung and LG so the "simple" Android took some getting used to, but I do enjoy it. The 2 years of free original resolution in Google Photos is a huge plus too as well as having the shatterproof display. You can peel off the top layer and replace it, which is great for resale in the future or if it gets really scratched up.

I've had my share of then Motorola phones. Original Droid, Moto X first addition, Droid Turbo and now Moto Z Force. I've had great experiences from each. My newest phone, Moto Z Force is no exception. The best parts are the camera, batter life, quick charging, mods, etc. The only drawback is the screen. Though it is said to have an unbreakable display, it is not scratch proof. Since there are many layers to the screen, i believe the first layer to a tough plastic. All I'm saying is do not put your phone and keys in the same pocket. I did have small noticeable scratches on my display. The phone did take a waist high fall to a concrete floor and hit two corners. It lost two small spots of paint but you could not feel any damage with your finger.

I have not had a Motorola since I discovered the Note phones but since the 7 had problems, I had to find something else. I admit I miss the pen but I'm dealing just fine with that cause this phone just keeps getting better and better! I got the projector mod & it says it works up to 70 inches i think, but I had it on the side of a building (just under 40 feet tall) & the picture STILL looked unbelievable! I also bought the battery mod & it keeps my phone charged all day long!! & I'm on my phone a lot! Also there is no head phone jack but it was easy enough to get an adapter & it plugs into the charger port. Or there's always Bluetooth.... anyways I'm definitely in love with this phone!

I've had the moto z force about a month now. The only moto mod I have added is the TUMI wireless charging power pack, which adds about 20 more hours of use on top of a good day of use without it.
The phone is fast and with the added micro SD card it has lots of storage.
The camera is very good as phone cameras go. Though I wish it had some of the features my previous Samsung Galaxy S5 had like a better panoramic feature (though there are camera apps that can make up for the shortcomings).
At this point I am very satisfied overall with the performance and durability (I've dropped it a few times).
The voice activation features are useful. You should choose your activation phrase carefully as the phone has had a tendency to mistake conversation as a command. That was eliminated by changing the phrase to something unique sounding to minimize misunderstanding.
I recommend this phone. I came back to Motorola after several Samsungs which were great except for the horrendous battery life.
