Customers are saying

Customers recognize the 15.6" Laptop's excellent performance, impressive battery life, and high-quality screen. Many appreciate its lightweight design and comfortable keyboard, making it ideal for both productivity and travel. However, some users find the sound quality lacking. Overall, the positive feedback on performance, battery life, and design outweighs the concerns about the speakers.

So. Great laptop so far, it last a long time under light load. When it comes to gaming, not so much. It overheats under heavy tasks, but at this weight and thinness... what's to be expected? Wish it was a GTX1060 like it's similar brother/sister laptops, but this handles Competitive Game really well, and Triple-A Titles decently fine. Screen is a mat-finish, it looks nice. Wish it was a tad sharper when it came to text out of the box. Overall. I've had no problems. Clean design. Thin. Strong Battery. Better for Productivity, with some Light Gaming. MSI has done a great job with this laptop.

I needed a gaming computer, for the graphics capability, to handle Autodesk AutoCADD 2020. So far it has worked with the program. The picture is very clear. The battery life is amazing. I've been using it for word processing and some video, about 6-7 hours a day, and I've only had to charge it every other day. The speakers aren't real loud, but I was able to sync my bluetooth speaker with it and it works for what I need. It stays nice and cool with...one exception...I was in an un-airconditioned room for about an hour and it got a little warm...but the room was over 80°. That was the only time it hasn't stayed cool. This computer is also very lightweight and very easy to transport. The main negative is that it does not have a working camera & mic. I took it in to Geek Squad and was told the driver was missing, but they would have to keep it for 3-5 days to fix that...and I currently need it for online classes. So I using an external camera w/mic for my school webcam requirements.

Firstly, if you're looking for a laptop that has good battery life and strong processing power, this one is the way to go. Although it does not have the newest intel chip or strongest graphics card, but I did not buy this laptop with the goal of gaming, there are better laptops for the price. However, I needed a laptop that could compete against the major elite books, such as the XPS 15, and this one did just that at a much better price point. P.S. many people have problems with the microphone not working on the laptop, The fix is quite simple: the camera is linked with the microphone for some reason, so by pressing FN + F6, both the camera and microphone are activated.

I recently purchased the MSI PS63 Modern laptop while searching for a PC to get me through college. At first glance, I was very satisfied with the appearance of the laptop as the backlit keyboard and sleek metal frame gave it a stunning interior. I have plans to use this laptop for engineering programs and for music production. With the high end specs this laptop has, I should not experience any problems running my DAW and 3D modeling programs. It took no time at all to set the laptop up right out of the box and I found the programs to function very smoothly. I am very satisfied with this laptop and highly recommend it!

Just received this in the mail today and I opened it immediately. From first glance, it's an amazing design and lightweight makes it so easy to travel with. The keyboard is very nice and the blue trim add a nice touch to the design. Things run very smoothly and I highly enjoy this laptop.

Amazing quality laptop. thin, light, sleek, but still packs a punch. extremely fast and plays any game and most games on high settings. Only complaint is the speakers are pretty garbage, but then again who actually uses the built in speakers for gaming?

I love the clean look this laptop is going for and how lightweight it is, however, it tends to heat up abnormally fast (about 30 seconds to scald you) if you attempt to play games on it and the speakers on it are pretty abysmal. I can barely hear a thing even when I have it up to 100. Also, this model has issues with their own MSI Drivers & App Center, which I have no idea why they haven't experienced this. There's several people who've reported this, so I'm not alone

This laptop is a great deal for the price. Thinner than expected. It is heavy and you can hear the fans, but it is much nicer looking than the pictures. Haven’t gamed with it yet, the specs are really good for the price. Packaging is outstanding.

The MSI PS63 modern has preformed perfectly over this past week. The build is very high quality. It’s thin and it’s look is very aesthetically pleasing. It’s one of the few laptops that met my specifications. The screen looks very good and the colors are amazing on it. The mouse pad is a little bigger than I expected, but works great. One thing I would have like to see is a normal SD card slot instead of a micro SD slot. Note that it doesn’t have an Ethernet port built in, but it does come with an Ethernet to sub adapter. Overall great laptop.

Perfect for school, programming, and gaming for a reasonable price, not something that can be found every day. The keyboard is easy to type with and it has a comfortable touch to it. This is the perfect laptop for school because it is light weight yet it has a powerful graphics card. The fingerprint sensor makes it easy to sign in while being secure.

Unique balance of power, portability, and battery

When I started searching for a new laptop, MSI was the last make I had in mind. The PS63 turns out to be a great laptop for my needs, and offers a unique set of specs for its size and weight. AFAIK, only the Asus ZenBook 15 (UX533FD) or the Surface Book 2 comes close to it. This PS63 pairs an Intel 8th gen Core i7-8565U with a 4GB Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Max-Q. In most other Intel portables, the U-series CPUs are paired with an MX 150 or no dedicated GPU at all. The 1050 Ti will provide about 2X the performance of the MX 150, and 3-4X the performance of Intel integrated graphics. It handles most games very well, and even the heaviest titles should be able to hit at least 30 FPS with lowered settings. The 8565U performs very well and does not bottleneck the GPU. The laptop's cooling solution is good enough to allow it to sustain respectable clock speeds under load. With heavy sustained single or dual threaded tasks, it can maintain close to 4 GHz. With 4-8 threads, it will be 2.8-3.5 GHz. Those speeds are with the max performance profile and CPU temps will top out around 90-95 C; a balanced performance profile will drop the clocks a bit but run the CPU cooler and fans lower (70-80 C). Undervolting will increase efficiency. A great reason to have a U-series CPU in this machine is its power efficiency, especially under light to moderate loads. That, combined with a 1080p display and a large 82 Whr battery means a realistic 10-13 hour battery life. Portability is excellent. The machine is 16mm thick and weighs 1.6kg. For reference, this is very slightly thicker but lighter than the 2018 15" MacBook Pro. And unlike the MBP, this laptop is friendly to component replacements and upgrades. It offers two DDR4 SODIMM slots, two M.2 SSD slots (one NVMe, one SATA III), a removable WiFi card, and a battery that isn't glued to the case. This machine comes with an empty SODIMM slot and an empty M.2 slot, making RAM or storage upgrades simple. Build quality is surprisingly good. MSI isn't known for high quality builds, but this thing feels solid. The base has little flex, the aluminum panels fit together cleanly, and the whole shell has a nice textured finish to it that hides fingerprints reasonably well. Fans are virtually silent under light load, and I don't hear any coil whine. I'm a fan of this backlit keyboard; the layout allows for nicely sized and spaced keys, with full size arrow and dedicated Home and End keys. The touchpad has a very smooth glass surface with single button physical click and Windows Precision Touchpad drivers and gesture support. It's accurate and works well. The fingerprint reader embedded in the upper left part of the touchpad is a bit odd, but print reading for login via Windows Hello is quick and accurate. Port selection is good, and I appreciate the full size HDMI out and DP out via USB-C. The USB-C port does not support Thunderbolt 3 or laptop charging, which is somewhat disappointing. The box does include a USB-A to Ethernet adapter, which is a nice touch. Relatively minimal bloatware, with Norton AV being the worst offender. The MSI Creator Center allows you to set performance profiles with basic fan control, and to toggle special settings like disabling the Windows key or having the Windows key act as a second Fn key.

This is a very thin and powerful laptop and is worth more than the sale price. The only thing that is missing is a touch screen which was not as important as the video card, memory, and ssd it came with. Great laptop for the price!

Excellent balance between professional & personal

I needed a laptop that would be able to run all of my programs while still being lightweight and portable for school. I work as a civil site design engineer and needed a laptop that would be able to run programs such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and HydroCAD. This laptop runs them well enough to a point that if I am not in the office, it will not be an issue for me. Obviously, my work desktop runs them better, but being able to take work with me on-the-go was an incredible benefit. I also wanted a laptop that would be lightweight and portable so that I may bring it to school with me. It needed to run the basic programs for an MBA while not being too cumbersome to lug around. This fits perfectly in my backpack, and what's best is that I don't even need to worry about carrying a charger around because the battery lasts so long. It lasts the entire day so long as I am not drafting constantly. The only negative I could really say about this laptop is that the speakers are on the bottom which makes no sense to me. The sound often comes out muffled or as if it were echoing on my desk. They sit in a position that seems they could have easily just been put on the front. Also, the USB C port does not charge the laptop which I feel would have been an easy addition to make and for some reason it was not done. All in all, for the price, this is an incredibly powerful machine that runs even complex programs smoothly. The professional look that MSI gave it was a huge benefit because I wanted something with the power of a gaming laptop, but that I could also bring to meetings while still having a professional appearance. For the ability that this machine has, it is definitely one of the most competitively priced machines in the market. I believe that it is worth every penny I spent.

I started my first semester of college in need of a laptop with qualities of a gaming computer as I was going to be studying engineering. Typically, I don't like the general look of most gaming laptops but this was the perfect balance for me as it had a sleek look along with all the specs I needed to be successful. Would highly recommend this laptop to anyone in a similar situation as me!
