Under 4lbs, with i7-2600k, and gtx 1060, and it is thin too, and without all the nonsensical over the top stereotyped gamer looks which is a total plus. Had the GS63VR for over a month now it is working great, games great, and there is nothing close at this price point. Biggest negative is the quality control. I had to buy 3 and return 2 because of bad memory. Thankfully Best Buy was close by the return policy made this generally painless.

I bought this laptop to stream live shows (not for gaming) because it was recommended by the broadcasting software. It is fast enough, however, I needed to customize it a lot first. I.E. somehow it was not configured to use the NVIDIA Graphics card which was odd. I had to disable a lot of the automatic background processes to get the full CPU. Also, the speakers are either defective or just so bad as to sound defective. I still need to check that part out. Otherwise, it runs cool and is lightweight. I'm happy it has a Thunderbolt port and am planning on using that for an AJA Io Capture card. for video inputs (HDMI / SDI ). In hindsight, I would have preferred a larger C : drive - 512 instead of 128 and also a larger screen size.

My first MSI laptop. I selected this model because of its slim size aluminum design and its great ventilation sold me. This is a gamers laptop you are paying for the power. This is the coolest design of a laptop I have ever seen. I am impressed with the dragon center software and the keyboard is just awesome. This laptop looks professional something you will like using for work, school and travel. As far as the sound goes it could be better same with the battery life although at this size with performance like a desktop MSI has proven why they are a leader. As long as they continue to make thin laptops like this I will keep buying. MSI for now on.

Runs great, looks great. 1060 graphics card runs everything i can throw at it. concerns about heat are overrated. Fans can get loud when put under load but I mostly game with headphones on so its a non issue and they keep the machine fairly cool. Screen is really nice. Speakers are so/so

I needed a new laptop for work, my old yoga pro 2 was dying on me after 2 years of use. In my new laptop I needed something powerful that could handle multiple programs running at once without lagging. I figured a gaming laptop would do the job since they're built to handle intense processing. I don't game but use it just for graphic editing, web design, etc. It works well for my work, but here are the problems I've noticed so far after a few weeks of usage: 1. screen is not great, I read many complaints of the -001 best buy variant and they are true. It's a subpar display compared to other models. I'm trying to get use to it but I for graphic editing / web design work I usually have it connected to an external monitor. 2. The fan when running does give off a high pitch whirl/whine sound, this is also true from other people's experiences 3. I don't like the font used on the keyboard (personal preference) 4. battery life is BAD. On battery only I couldn't even get through a 2 hour movie without having to plug in. It died around 1.5 hrs. Horrible for working on the go. given that i usually work at a desk so it's plugged in, just the thought of traveling with it is kind of disappointing. Overall as a work PC it works well for what I need it for. It's powerful. I'm still within my 45 day return period so I will test it some more before I make a final decision whether to keep it.

This laptop is simple amazing, if you purchase it get it. First it's lighter than most macbooks and packs a unbelieve punch. It looks great and plays great. But there are always a few things to complain about. 1st this is a gaming laptop with fully dedicated GTX 1060, Not a mobile version the full nitty gritty GTX 1070. What this means is depending on what you run at certain specs don't expect 8 hours of battery life . But like all device these things can be adjusted also. Speaker quality is decent it no bang or beats but it does the job. I'd recommend headphone when you can. Other than that this Gaming Laptop is a beast in thin slick outfit.

It is hard to believe such a small, sleekly designed laptop can be so good for gaming, but here we are. The processor and dedicated graphics card will have you playing at settings you didn't think possible for this size and price. It's great for work as well, and includes a plethora of ports and slots (many of which are now absent from the more expensive MacBooks...). I really can't recommend this enough. One minor complaint is that the speakers are truly terrible, but headphones easily solve that problem.

I chose this laptop after looking at ASUS, Alienware and HP laptops for gaming. MSI had the best features, slim profile and features. I love that I can play any game out in the market and expand my RAM to 32 GB if needed. The graphics card is a monster too! Battery life is not so great. You get about 2 1/2 - 3 hours, but it is a gaming laptop so this is expected. I am very happy with my purchase and I know I have a laptop that will last me over 5 years guaranteed! A++

To me the most important thing when it comes to laptop is: 1. Processor 2. Form Factor 3. Price This MSI laptop is the best in all those categories. It is an absolute powerhouse once you make some needed hardware upgrades; however, one thing you cannot upgrade is the screen (it's not terrible, but if you're gaming you'll be using a desktop monitor anyways). Here is a list of the hardware upgrades that I made and would recommend: Samsung 850 EVO M.2 (SSD) Samsung 850 EVO (SSD) Corsair Vengeance DDR4 2x16 GB @ 2400MHz (RAM) Killer 1535 (WiFi Card) Also I would recommended a CLEAN install of Windows. MSI like most other brands adds a TON of bloatware which is completely unnecessary. **WARNING upgrading the RAM and SSD M.2 takes some experience as you will be taking the entire motherboard out (this is how MSI managed to make this laptop so small)

This laptop is much better and worth the 200 dollars more than the older model. It all ready for VR in the future and with its built in steel series keyboard for comfort for normal laptop purposes. I would definitely recommend this to a PC Gamer who would love to take his PC games on the go! The laptop is best of its kind! Definitely worth my money.

I picked this up about a month before this review. The Actual laptop is quite the looker. It is thin and light, but along with those great features this is super powerful laptop. Quick and responsive, plenty of power to run the most demanding programs. Because of the power to weight/thin ratio, the battery life severely suffers, 2.5-4 hours on average. The biggest issue is the on board speakers, for some reason the left speaker is super tinny and sounds blown out. Apparently this may be a software issue, but they still haven't fixed it, if ever. MSI actually told me to return it. Quite annoying. I've noticed forums and youtube videos of owners who have the exact same issue. Plug in headphones and things sound great though. For the price, this is a pretty sweet device, but it has some major setbacks also for the price.

    Four Pound Gaming Laptop? What?!

Four pounds. Thin. GTX 1060. Amazing. I really wanted an alienware at first because of the ability to use their external graphics chassis, plugging in a desktop graphics card while at home. That being said, Alienware laptops are incredibly heavy and thick when compared to this MSI laptop. Everything about it feels high quality. Buyer beware: This unit is very difficult to get inside of. It requires a steady hand, a guitar pick, and a large amount of caution to keep from deforming/breaking clips or bending metal out of shape. I opened to install an SSD, replacing the 1tb 5400 RPM HDD it comes with. Also, if you ever wish to upgrade your memory, that is quite the task as the motherboard has to be removed, as the memory slots are underneath the motherboard. I am a Systems Administrator by trade and have spent years and years building/repairing PCs for a living and for a hobby...the steps involved in replacing this memory even make me a little squeamish. There are some tear down articles/videos online that you can review to see if this process is for you.

The Laptop For My Every Need

I had always been hesitant to buy any kind of "gaming laptop" because they usually appeared overpriced, bulky, and I questioned their performance compared to my purpose built desktop. I really just needed a laptop to do work away from my desk, whether it be on the couch, at work, in class, or on the road. However, this meant performance compromises and needing various dongles to use any number of accessories. When I was in the market for a new laptop I couldn't take my eyes of this new MSI laptop when I saw it in the store. It seemed to have everything: numerous ports for accessories (USB 3.0, Thunderbolt 3, even Ethernet!), relatively compact and slim, a full GTX 1060 graphics card, and came at a price below other gaming laptops but inline with high end portable laptop models. It was no contest what I was going to walk out with. I bought the MSI, and it runs great in every respect no matter what I use it for: games, streaming, coding, media management, or web-surfing.

So simply reading the specs you can tell this is a powerful machine, with a quality feeling that you must see and touch to appreciate. Only the the latest games will give it a work out, anything else it can do multi-tasking like it's nothing. The brushed black aluminum case feels so much nicer than the standard plastic affair, the steel series keyboard is a nice touch (definitely recommend one of their mice, not just because of the color matching), the overall speed is impressive, especially at its price point (better if you can catch it on sale), and Msi gives you enough freedom with the machine that you can get just that little more out of it, or possibly hurt it if you're not careful (I do assume there's thermal protection to prevent immediate damage, but I'm in no hurry to activate. Again for the money amazing piece of equipment. And I couldn't be happier with it.

My 6 year-old laptop had tanked out a couple days prior, and with "back-to-school" promos going, it was a pretty good time to grab a new one. Only annoyance was 1TB HDD, which I swapped for a SSD a few weeks later. Very powerful, slim, and the look/color isn't ostentatious, so I could use this at work if needs be.

When school started this past spring I was searching high and low for a machine that I could program on for school. In the past I had bought a yoga and MacBook Pro( with out paralles) so I did a little research on best rigs and pcmag and Engadget recommended a gaming machine I had a budget of 1700 for a laptop and msi machines had better specs then most top brands but I had never heard of them so I took a change and man it worked out. It handles visual Studio and ,net beans with ease also plenty or memory for game development with easy access to components. Keyboard handles like a dream the i7 and 6g graphics card is excellent for 3D development it’s light and not a massive 17.3 inch machine like the Asus ROG. But I love it

This laptop is thin, light, and packs a heavy punch. With plenty of ports including HDMI out and DP out. The 1060 GTX card eats up what you throw at it and the SSD has you booted to the login screen in less than 20 seconds most times.

Went into a Best Buy while on vacation in California looking for a gaming laptop to use while I am not at home and came across this one from MSi. After comparing all the gaming laptops available at this particular Best Buy, this one came out on top in regards to price, parts, and portability. Since I have purchased this laptop, I have not regretted it in the slightest. Everything loads up quickly, the GTX 1060 inside runs all the games I currently own, and even some of the newer games such as For Honor, and Ghost Recon: Wildlands on High graphics settings, and the hard drive space, while it could be a little bigger, is good enough for what I will be using it for. Would definitely recommend this laptop for anyone looking for a good, portable, gaming laptop to use while on the go.

I was looking for a laptop that I was comfortable carrying anywhere that I went (strong build, light, 15' or less) yet had the power to do anything I could ask of it. Ultimately, I purchased this laptop after a huge amount of research and comparisons, and have not regretted it. This laptop is blazing fast, and can do everything I ask of it. The Witcher 3 at the highest settings 1080p runs at 60 FPS, GTA V runs at the absolute highest settings 1080p at 60 FPS, and Skyrim Special Edition on the absolute highest settings runs at 30+FPS. The Keyboard is amazing and has great backlighting as well as a wonderful feel while typing, the trackpad isn't amazing, but it is enough. The speakers are strong but not amazing, and the screen does a very good job for gaming. The quad core processor, 16 GB of DDR4 RAM and GTX 1060 6GB are future proof for at least three or four years, and I don't recommend settling for anything less if you want it to last longer into the future. Would I recommend it? In a heart beat.

Laptop is a great size. Does not over heat. The felt under the laptop keeps it from doing so. I wanted a 14 in laptop but it's best at 15 for the keyboard size. A lot of bloatware though.
