I’ve had my laptop for about 2 years now, so now is as good a time as ever to give a review. It’s a solid mid-entry laptop. I play everything from the sims to grand theft auto on this setup and it handles it pretty well. The fan is a bit loud when gaming but nothing major. The battery life is a bit “meh” - but for the performance you get, it’s easy to overlook. The only cons I have about this rig is the amount of hard drive space and RAM you’re initially given. The redeeming thing about that tho is that it is easily remedied by upgrading components. I have since installed a 1TB SSD and plan on adding about 16gb of RAM.

I wanted to give it enough use to really be able to rate it accurately.
I do not play games because, honestly they've all been the same garbage for 20 years so I won't even attempt to state whether this rig has the muscles to run whatever the weirdos in hoodies and shorts are playing these days.
I am going to start off with the cons:
- Not enough ram or storage space. You're looking at about 250-300 dollars more to upgrade to at least 16GB ram and add a 1TB nvme drive and that voids your warranty so if you do that, you've been warned.
- Does not have built-in card reader. It's been decades since I had a laptop without one so this really shocked me.
- It wouldn't have killed them to add just 1 more usb port. As it stands, an external powered hub is required.
- The fan reminds me of my time on a carrier. It is loud to the point you will want to keep the laptop behind something solid if you have it setup semi-permanently at a desk.
Pros:
+ Plenty of speed from the CPU/GPU and that becomes much more usable once you upgrade the ram.
+ Can handle 4k video editing admirably for a relatively cheap laptop
+ I have a bunch of older accessories like mice, keyboards, printers, mics and all seem to work with this machine (unlike my previous laptop). Not sure if it was a power issue or what, but this laptop has brought old stuff back from the dead so that's always good.
+ The usb port speed is upper end from my experience, particularly the usb-c port. I've seen sustained 180MBps transfer rate on large video files on the c.
+ Runs Photoshop, Premier, Aftereffects, web browsers and background music simultaneously with no problem. (this is after the ram upgrade. 8GB stock did seem to have some lag with multitasking)
Conclusion:
If you need a portable machine that can act as a desktop stand-in for more than just web-browsing...this laptop can handle it.
But expect to buy a few upgrades for real computing comfort.

I never really thought about purchasing a gaming laptop for the simple reason they were out of my price range. I had originally purchased an ASUS Chromebook and it was a fine laptop but, the MSi gaming laptop came available for a few dollars more. I took back the ASUS and exchanged it and have been happier ever since. Some reviewers banged on the keyboard being to mushy but I think it's fine. The upgrade options are anther nice feature on this laptop. The keyboard is lit with red backlighting which I think is cool as well. Another plus is the weight, very light compared to other laptops. It does get a little warm, I would highly recommend an after market cooling pad. Great laptop for the money.

immediately undid the back screws opened it up to upgraded the RAM to 32GB the computer was fast even before updating the RAM i only did so to be able to run davinci resolve and gpu intensive applications better with more RAM it’ll be a little less intensive on the cpu and gpu depending on the requirements of whatever program you use i personally like the laptop i already own a gaming desktop i built with a Ryzen 7 1700 and a RX580 8GB card it’s lovely but i personally don’t use my desktop set up because it’s not as convenient as say a laptop would be hence why i got it 4GB of vram is certainly not alot but the DDR6 memory helps you can run red dead slightly above 30 on average 40fps with dips to 30-35 fps never below with a mixture of ultra/high apex legends about 100+ fps with dips into 70s sometimes averaging 76FPS it’s a nice performance i can’t complain i got it on sale for $629 came out to $700 even if you have to spend $800 just save $200 more and grab the $1000 msi with the 16gb of ram and the rtx2060 you’ll be happier and you’ll be set for the next few years especially if you plan on using it long term also the battery life is 4 hours 1/2 surfing if gaming you’ll have about an hour it’s not a big battery

The battery is crap and doesnt last so keep the charger close! but its definitely a GREATTT laptop for sims 4 Mods and Custom Content!! I have nearly 30,000 maybe even more and my laptop still runs great! For the price the battery issues arent very bad to me. Especially when i know i like playing all day everyday and it still works great without any lags. For any sim players ! Try this one out!

Beautiful laptop. The Max-Q design GPU allows for a slim and lightweight laptop with good battery life at the cost of some performance, it will get really loud under load too.
It's only got 3 usb ports + 1 type c port (all usb 3.0) so you may run out of ports quickly, though both the ethernet port and dedicated high res audio input and output jacks are appreciated.
Though it may be considered an entry level GPU the included GTX 1650 is a massive upgrade coming from integrated graphics and can both perform basic rendering at good speeds and handle newer games at mid-high settings, though you won't be able to store many of them unless you upgrade the included 240gb of storage, which thankfully is fairly easy with both a M.2 and a SATA port inside.
Overall this is a great budget option if you don't mind having to upgrade eventually.

Extremely worth it. There are a few downsides— the laptop runs hot and the fan gets loud but it’s not a big deal. The material it’s made of also shows finger smudges very easily. It takes a while to get used to the hot keys (you have to press&hold FN to change the volume, brightness, and to turn on the camera). However, I can run Valorant, modded Minecraft and plenty of other games as well. The graphics are pretty good and i haven’t used up all of 256gb of ssd. I read somewhere that there’s room for more space if needed, so that’s great! Built in microphone and camera. I’ve had it for about a month and I haven’t had any problems :)

This processes games (via Steam) smoothly. The graphics are clear. It also renders animations (via animation software, like blender) quickly. The keys feel comfortable. The integrated mousepad can take a little bit of adjusting to. The MSI Dragon Center helps when gaming, allowing you to turn on fans for cooling and up the GPU (it has more controls there also well). The initial set-up was very easy. I recommend this laptop.

This laptop is good so far hasn’t giving me problems you can play good games on it the downsides is it runs hot but apart from that you can buy a laptop cooling pad or a vacuum cooling pad for it and it will cool it down and increase FPS overall it is a good laptop I’d recommend it for anyone to start laptop gaming I’d give a rating of 9.5/10

It is exactly as a expected it to be. It runs phenomenally. If you are a huge gamer, I would maybe recommend get a pricier one with maybe a better cpu/gpu but for maybe a bit of gaming and work on the side, it handles things amazingly. Would recommend for everyday users mainly for work.

This laptop may not have the fanciest cpu/gpu combo but if you are looking to get started with a gaming laptop, or otherwise don’t have a huge need for power when gaming, this laptop is a great affordable option that will get you going.

HDMI output is limited to 4k 30hz! HDMI 1.4??

Great laptop if you plan on doing gaming at 1080p for the price. I do have one problem with it though. You can't output 4k at 60hz, only 30hz. This isn't for gaming, just for normal day to day use. Doing 30hz feels like your mouse lags and videos just don't look quite right. It's the only downfall I have really seen and I went back to look, and there is no mention of what the HDMI output is. I just figured now-days, everything would be at least HDMI 2.0 since 2.0 came out in 2013. But I guess not. It must be HDMI 1.4 which came out in 2009-2011. I looked it up on MSI's website and they don't mention the version of HDMI included, it just says 4k 30hz.
Only other thing I can assume is that the 1650 gpu is the problem. Maybe there is a limit on those for the output? I'm not sure. Just blows my mind that anything made in the last 5 years or so would still do 30hz on 4k.

Great laptop. It really helped my gaming experience become so much better. Valorant runs perfectly fine, I have my settings al on low and get 150-190 FPS. And even on medium settings I run that same amount. Very nice laptop for Valorant.
