I'm a laptop enthusiast, always have been and always will be. Let me just tell you what you probably want to know. Pros: Fast, fast, FAST. Thing is speedy as heck, and the 144hz rate is amazing. Battery life? Amazing. You can game for a solid four hours on this thing, heavy intensity from 100% to 0%. Cool boost keeps the temps down! This thing is slim as they come. Quality of a MacBook with the power that MSI is known for. Cons: The temperatures do get pretty uncomfortable which makes Cool boost essential for heavy duty gaming. The keyboard takes some getting used to. That's basically it. It's a great price for a great machine, I'm not disappointed so far.

Overall, this laptop is great across the board and should be on the shortlist or the pick for someone looking for a solid combination of portability, power, build, ergonomics, and battery life. I'll switch it up and cover the points of improvement first. The upgradability is possible but difficult for average user. However, I don't personally think this is something that should be of concern because it performs well without any upgrades and there are cheaper ways to get more storage etc. There is some tweaking that should be done in order to squeeze that last bit of thermal efficiency by undervolting. There is a very simple way of doing it that is rather effective but you can always go as advanced as you want to. One last minor one is that the screen does not get super bright. I can say that this has not been a problem for me yet. Past that, everything major has been great for me. The positives of the screen are the matte finish that makes indoor use with bright overhead lights no problem. The 144hz makes everything more fluid and responsive. The keyboard and trackpad are both responsive and comfortable. The keyboard also has fun, completely customizable per-key lighting that you can do anything with. Using the dragon center software it's possible to easily make this a quiet productivity machine with good battery life, 7-8 hrs. Performance is great in a variety of areas and reliable. Connectivity is also solid. If you are looking for versatility, I'd go for it while its on sale when it's an incredible value!

    Great computer, needs more storage

Picked it up for the price and the longevity that this computer provides for the next coming years. Great specs for any sort of gaming but has the flaw that only a few large games can be downloaded at once. Overall the computer is slick with a nice overall feel, however it would be nice if the interfaces with better shown such as the steel series three back light editor which needs to be searched for in the files. Although it has some minor inconveniences it is overall a great computer for anyone who likes to game and go as long as they can put up with either upgrading or buying an external drive for extra storage.

I bought this laptop without a great amount of expectation but I was blown away with how good this laptop looks, feels, and works. 1660ti is plenty enough of power to run my favorite game, Overwatch, to take advantage of the 144hz monitor. The laptop is easy to carry because of its thin shape. The chassis is decent but it has a bit of flex to it. Overall, this is laptop is excellent!

I love this laptop. It is great for gaming, work, or school, and it has settings to accommodate for performance or battery life. The laptop is very lightweight and easy to carry around in a case. The only downside is the laptop fans can be rather loud when running large programs, but the performance makes up for it.

I got the laptop for 1399 with the student discount. Very high standards with this coming up technology. I'm also impress with this ultra notebook, which I'm new to this MSI brand. I use it for school/work/gaming. It's powerful, and for PC gaming is out of this world. The frames run really smooth with that Geforce 1660ti and iCore 9th Generation that I play Rainbow Six Siege, Starcraft 2 and Borderlands 3. 16 GB Ram is really incredible because I use for programming like Python, Java Script and Java, which it indeed kicks in. Battery is also good nothing to complain about. 5/5 I would recommend to any Beginner gamer/ programmer or just a need of a notebook for school/college.

I got this laptop on sale as a gaming laptop since I can't/don't want to game on my macbook pro. This thing is light, thin, and has a great battery. Games have run flawlessly so far. It also looks professional with just a little bit of edge to it. The screen is beautiful! It does run hot when gaming so some undervolting, etc. may be necessary.

I prefer 17" laptops for gaming, but there are times when they are just too inconvenient to haul around or too heavy to use in your lap. After debating about dropping down to the 15.6" class for a few months, I started doing a lot of research to find the right balance of performance vs portability. After a few weeks of owning this laptop, I can say any trepidation I had was unfounded and it has more than exceeded my expectations, especially after a few addional tweaks. As has been mentioned in other reviews, it can run a little hot (though nothing like my previous 6820hk-based 17" laptop with GTX 980M). Using ThrottleStop, I've been able to bring temps below 33C idle and under 82C under heavy load by activating Speed Shift and applying undervoltage (the amount of which will vary from unit to unit). While gaming, temps are comfortably in the lower 70s. In turn, this has minimized fan noise which is always a welcome side effect. It's quiet, powerful, light, and elegant. MSI has a winner with the GS65-9Sx series of laptops, and I'm happy to own one particularly for the price.

    Fantastic VR-ready Laptop

This high-end gaming computer is perfect for the latest VR titles (Oculus or Vive). I use it with the new Oculus Rfit S, and it performs amazingly well for the size. As an ultraportable laptop, it has a metal construction making is very durable. I can't believe how MSI was able to cram so much in such a small footprint. I was tempted to buy the equivalent Dell, but MSI's built contruction is well worth the $200 difference.

I bought this laptop two weeks ago. I've never had a PC or gaming laptop before. I've switched from a MacBook Pro that I had for seven years. I like this MSI one more because the screen is matte versus the retina display on the mac which I always see my reflection in. The style and thinness is equally attractive as my Mac was. The rose gold is a nice touch looks super slick and is light-weight compared to the other gaming laptops I've seen. Those look bulky and not as professional. The keyboard colors are fun too on this laptop and the keys feel nice to the touch. The touch pad feels nice as well. The speed is great, I don't have problems with heating or fan noise as I always use a cooling pad, so I can't comment on that. The speakers are loud, the quality of sound is OK. pretty average for a laptop. All in all I'm happy with my purchase of it. I would consider this MSI one even over other brands whether I wanted to play games or not.

I have always been an Apple, specifically MacBook fanboy but when I found out I needed a Windows computer for a few of my classes I decided I should get something with a little power under the hood so I could also do some gaming since my PS4 recently broke. I chose the MSI GS Stealth because it was the best looking computer as well as had the best specs for the money. I managed to get it on sale using my student discount. At first the computer was running really hot but then I discovered the wonders of undervolting. I managed to get my CPU temps down to 75C while increasing my FPS as well! Now the laptop is a dream, I love how light it is in comparison to other gaming laptops and the 1660ti allows me to run most of my games on max settings. This laptop in my opinion is the best bang for the buck laptop and I feel extremely happy with my purchase.

    Good Dell XPS replacement

I've had two generations of Dell XPS 15's, and both had thermal issues when playing games or extended compiling/rendering. Bought this to replace my daily, and it works well so far. Primary uses: Excel, Python + .Net + Embedded C coding, 15% gaming, vector/3d illustration. Pros: - Better heat management, fans can get loud - Excel runs way better on 1080p, plus 144hz refresh is awesome - Screen is pretty bright and doesn't look dull - Quick switching between color profiles - Haven't had and BSODs - System is quick fast and responsive - Not much bloatware - Webcam is in the right place, up top - I like having three usb 3.0 ports - An actual ethernet port Cons - System does have a little more flex than the XPS - No SD slot - Arrows keys are a little awkwardly placed (can get used to it) - Touch pad has a little more play than I would like Overall it is a quick, stable machine that looks nice. A few more small changes would make this a solid machine and a good competitor to the XPS. If you are doing data analysis/coding with occasional gaming and don't need a 4k screen this is the one to get.

I needed a new laptop for grad school and work, but I didn't want something with the gamer aesthetic. The new GS Stealth delivers! I compared this to ultrabooks in the same price range and the this gives you more power for your money. PROS - Design: This laptop looks stunning. The materials, the styling, the finish are all top notch. - Screen: The 144hz screen looks fantastic and has great colors. - Keyboard: Keystrokes have a shorter travel distance than some people like, but I love it. It feels responsive and was my favorite of the 10+ laptops I tested. - Webcam location: Even with the thin bezels, MSI managed to squeeze the webcam above the screen. I refuse to use a laptop with the webcam under the screen for video conferences due the the up-your-nose angle it creates. CONS - Thermals: The processor runs into thermal throttling issues very quickly. Undervolting can help, but most users probably don't feel comfortable doing that. I'd love to see MSI use a top quality thermal paste on future models. But to some extent, this is a trade-off for the small form factor (which was more important to me than thermals). - Flipped Motherboard: The flipped motherboard means that anyone other than expert users may find upgrading memory and storage out of the question. I've built my own desktop and upgraded laptops before, but I still wouldn't feel confident doing the same to this model. - A/C port location: The power plug is on the right side of the computer and occasionally gets in a way when using a mouse. I'd prefer to see it on the left side in future models.

When I was looking for a gaming laptop, I actually had something above specs that I was looking for and that was something that didn't scream "gamer". This computer is slick and all metal no plastic and runs like a dream. The specs only add on to the fresh and cool look that the laptop screams out. As a college student, when I tell people my laptop is a gaming laptop, people are actually surprised. This computer is great for work as well. A six-hour battery while not the best is great for a gaming laptop like this one. All in all, I would recommend picking this modal up.

I got this computer during the Black Friday/ Cyber Monday sales for $1299. I had absolutely no issues on start up. Screen is beautiful with its 144hz refresh rate. I'm not a hardcore pc gamer, just light stuff like Runescape. And it runs flawlessly. Keyboard is nice. I do miss the number pad but it's not a big problem for me. Performance is amazing. Battery life is probably average. Better than other gaming laptops tho. You might get 4-6 hours doing normal things. The gold and black theme is beautiful. I would reccomend. This is easily the best laptop I have ever owned. My favorite thing about this laptop is the design. I love how sleek it looks and the gold edges add a really nice aesthetic. Second, the laptop performs better than expected. As a graphic designer and avid gamer, this device handles everything I throw at it with ease. And lastly, it is so light! Compared to other gaming laptops, this one is much lighter than others which makes it very portable for when I am on the go. My only complaint is that the battery life doesn't last as long as was advertised. But other than that, I absolutely love this laptop. I'm glad I bought it, it was so worth it!

I bought this laptop to run cad on in college as well as some games. I was more than blown away, the visuals of the laptop are stunning yet subtle which gives it a slight professional look. It out performs my current Alienware pc and haven’t had any trouble running any games or programs yet. It has some amazing features that a lot of other laptops don’t come with. It also is perfect for school because of the size, weight and how quiet it is. Great price and a great buy.

First off, I'm a new player in the game of gaming laptops, or gaming PCs for that matter. Suffice it to say that I pestered both the sales representative and a more experienced friend of mine with an adequately large host of questions. The MSI GS Series Stealth lives up to its name with its low profile---the machine is thin, even lighter than its less-powerful competitors, despite packing more of a punch. Its "dragon center" configuration center is a lot more helpful and actually useful than many other manufacturer programs that come pre-installed on certain PCs. It passed various gaming benchmarks with solid scores, and has basically no delay for non-gaming things. Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase.

I originally purchased a larger laptop with slightly better specs. After using it for the night I realized it was way to big for my needs. This MSI laptop is not only the perfect size for taking on the go, it’s build quality was immediately noticeable. The keyboard felt great and the body of the laptop is high quality all around. This thing also performs like a dream. I was looking for a machine that would allow for productivity and some gaming and this thing delivers all over. Highly recommend.
