Customers often highlight the impressive performance and sleek design of the GS Series Stealth 17.3" Gaming Laptop, along with its large screen size and relatively light weight for its power. However, some users mention that the laptop can get warm under heavy use and that the fans can be noticeable. Other potential drawbacks include battery life and the sound quality of the speakers.

TLDR: Awesome laptop after some software tweaks. Add a stick of ram, and get thermals under control and its amazing!
My initial impression is that I'm blown away by what this thing can do. There is a lot of negative reviews of the Nvidia RTX Max-Q cards because they are underclocked so much. In a laptop this thin where heat can be a big issue, the 2070 max q performs wonderfully. I think a lot of people expect desktop performance from a laptop and that's just not the case, especially one this size.
If you are trying to decide between the GS65 and the GS75 from best buy, The 2060 card in the GS65 is the non max q variant so performance between the 2 are quite similar. Ultimately I chose the GS75 for the screen size and better thermal management of the 2070 max q and the extra 2gb of onboard memory.
If you start playing games on this right out of the box, things can get very hot very quickly, to the tune of 91 Celsius from the CPU and thermal throttling occurs which cripples gameplay. There is also only one stick of 16gb ram which is not helping your FPS. So why am I so happy with the GS75? Because I did the following:
1. Add another 16GB DDR4 SDRAM 2666.
2. Use MSI Afterburner to set a custom curve clock speed
3. Use Throttlestop to undervolt the cpu.
4. DO NOT USE THE SLIDER SET TO PERFORMANCE. Leave it in the middle at balanced.
*I also upgraded to Windows 10 Pro, but it's not absolutely necessary.
I can game at ultra settings in Division 2 for hours with both my CPU and GPU temps in the low 70s! I cap the FPS at 65 and its butter smooth, no tearing. Benchmarking yielded an average FPS of 78 on ultra. If you want to take advantage of the 144hz refresh rate of the screen, you will need to switch to lower settings or you should have went with the RTX2080. 65fps is plenty for me.
Im running a .250 core undervolt and a .125 cache undervolt. Speedshift enabled and set to zero. BDPROCHOT disabled. While up to 2 cores are active, I allow the CPU to boost to 4.1Ghz, but when all 6 are active, I allow 3.2Ghz. I capped the GPU at 1365mhz. I experience low 70s ALL DAY BABAAYYY!!! No thermal throttling here! Plenty of resources online explaining this process.
Adding RAM is a bit tricky as the mobo needs to be flipped to access it, but it's not too bad. Watch a couple videos on youtube first.
As for the screen, no gsync, no 4k. That doesn't bother me though because a laptop this portable with such smooth gameplay more than make up for that. It would have been nice to get a QHD screen, but thats about my only complaint. Gaming at 2K resolution though, would be pushing the limits of the 2070 max q. The fans are pretty quiet actually, all things considered. You hear them, but they don't take over the room.
As for durability, I just got it so I cant comment, but it seems solid enough. I'll probably get a hard shell case for it since I travel a lot, which is also a reason I was interested in a gaming laptop in the first place.
All in all, I am happy with the cost/performance ratio.

This things absolutely ROCKS! Hands down the best laptop on the market for the price. Above average battery life, huge screen with slim bezels, small body, Steel Series keyboard, tons of ports, ridiculous performance... I rarely game, but was able to run Anthem on ultra settings and maintain 85 FPS....

This is the second MSI that was unusable. Purchased this model a second time from BestBuy brand new and like the first one once I opened the box I noticed the case was not aligned. I could not even plug anything into the USB slots because the case was misaligned. Glad I passed on MSI if they are letting this lack of basic quality out of their factory doors.

So let me just start off by saying I love this laptop! Everything about it from opening the packaging all the way to booting it up for the first time down to the design of the chasis and keyboard lighting and colorful display! Im coming over to windows from a Macbook pro and I was kinda nervice because I love love love my macbook and I beleivee if I did not buy this MSI that I would have returned any other computer and went back to apple. This computer is powerful and quick and I love the preformace control panal that MSI includes for easy adustments to preformace! The only con that i would have is not reallya con to me but i know that it might be to someone elseis that the fans come on quicky and regualry but for a laptop this thin thats packing this hardware i would expect nothing less at least i know its cooling properly! last but not least I love the huge trackpad which is twice the size of my macbooks track pad~ I 100% recommend this laptop to anyone that is looking to upgrade!

First computer I bought in a while and it doesn't disappoint. Beautiful sleek design. Amazing visuals in gaming and the machine itself with it's lite multicolored keyboard. Very powerful for a laptop. Not to heavy but doesn't feel flimsy either. Lil pricey but well worth it!

Very thin and light for the power it has.
It effortlessly runs the games we play at high resolution.
A very good solution for a personal, portable laptop that plays games well.
And... the keyboard is just cool.
Downsides - the 512G SSD without the addition of a 1TB or higher extra drive is tight for modern games. I installed two on the D: partition and could not fit a third with the space taken out for emergency backup. But, there are some very good additional SSD drives you can add to get around that limitation. Since it has a thunderbolt 3 connection, you can also go with a very fast external drive.
The fan is a bit high pitched and louder than my last gaming laptop, but this is a "real" video chip set rather than a cut back mobile one, so you have to expect more cooling is needed.

Finally! I have gone through several RTX laptops, including most of ROGs line up (Strix Scar II, Zephyrus s GX 701, etc) While they look nice they under preform. Especially when it comes to the screen. Don't get me wrong, most ROG screens are fantastic, but the ones they use in there slim forms are trash. Mostly because of absolutely terrible screen bleed. if you paly any game with even the slightest bit of contrast, ROG falls flat. MSI picks up on this and runs away with it. While there model has some screen bleed, it is no where close to ROG's models. Its almost impossible to get an ips panel screen with no screen bleed. preformance wise this thing is a beast! Runs everything i could ever ask it to on max setings. The battey is actually great aswell. I was shocked that I can get a solid day of school work out of it and still have plenty of power to play around. Something ROG completely whiffed on. Granted, if your playing games on it, dont expect to get more than 1 1/2 out of it. Its slim form factor also makes it very versitial and easy to move around. Waytago MSI!

Upgraded from an Acer Predator 17' and I'm blown away by the portability of this Laptop. My work involves a lot of international travel, so I was looking for gaming performance in a more sleek, compact chasis. Was going to downsize to a 15' but at these dimensions was no need. Yes, the RTX 2070 Max Q is quite underclocked, but that's to be expected in such a slim Laptop.

I'm not a gamer. I bought this laptop to run 3D modeling and rendering software. Many laptops don't run these sotwares smothely but this one is excellent for it. Also, the screen size and resolution is great for working. The design is beautiful, also, thin and light weigh which makes it good for travel.
Absolutely loving it

The laptop has a high-end processor and dedicated graphics, so it will get the need to circulate the air to cool down the electronic components. You will hear the fans when they run during heavy gaming to cool the high-end CPU and graphics card, but it's not obnoxious. The speakers are good considering the laptop is extremely thin and light, but some may expect better. The bloatware is extremely minimal, which I very much appreciated

This laptop is defiantly one of the finer ones that MSI has put out. The power that it has is amazing for its size and thermals. The bezel on the screen is also quite impressive.
Pros: +Great key board
+Amazing track pad
+Amazing build quality
+quiet for the power that it has
Cons: -speakers are a little meh, but headphones solve that
-sometimes you can bump the track pad while typing.

I really like how fast it is and the video quality. 17 inch is a good size for a travel laptop and it is not very heavy. I love how slim and sleek it is. I like that it only has an SSD instead of a traditional hard drive.
