The build quality is great, the backlit keyboard is bright, the Touchpad is good for a Windows laptop, and the display is a lot better than I expected. If you're looking for a thin and light portable laptop for office work, school, and basic tasks, this is a steal at $350. Just keep in mind you'll get the most from it if you're not doing too much at the same time. The only downside for me was the storage since you only have 48 GB of the 128 available. After about 5 hours of doing Windows updates, uninstalling bloatware and apps not needed, and then disabling hibernation, and removing garbage, left me with 41 GB of storage. Another 24 GB could be reclaimed by deleting the windows.old folder, but I didn't do that yet for this review, so you're really getting about 65 GB in storage after everything is done.
The only games I played were Unreal Tournament 2004 (which it had a hard time with), Guilty Gear (which stuttered a lot) and Street Fighter Collection (which ran fine). All my retro games played great and I didn't notice any major ghosting on those games.
Based on how I've used it, it's a wonderful laptop for basic tasks and office/school use, but don't expect much else from this and you'll be pretty happy with it.

I managed to buy this laptop on sale and with all upgrades (wifi 6, larger SSD) it cost me close to $500 altogether. Honestly, I can't complain for that price. Everything did exactlt what I needed it to do. I run multiple apps and multiples windows with little to no problem. I don't think this is for you if you're looking for an ideal context creating laptop. This is more for those workers/students looking for a laptop that can juggle Office Applications and browsing on laptop. Also, not ideal for gamers UNLESS you stream games.
Some of the cons I would say is low sounding speakers, not ideal ports, and display isn't my favorite. However, for the price you're paying, it's HONESTLY not bad. This is half the price of your MacBook or Dell Xps, but it does everything I could ask for at this price.

For the price, this is definitely one of the best choices. Keep in mind the hard drive is only 128GB so you'll have maybe 50GB of free space after updates and what not to store your own files. If you don't need to store a ton on the laptop itself (I don't) that's not a problem, or you can always upgrade the hard drive later on.
The screen is fabulous at this price point; 1080p, anti-glare, and very sharp. I also don't have much eye strain, I feel like this screen doesn't use PWM to dim (a good thing) but I don't know for sure. The *backlit* keyboard is also very good (I can get up to 100 words per minute) and the touchpad is good too.
It's quick for everything like email, web, social media, and office/school work. You'll need a separate CD drive like the majority of other laptops out there these days, but that's why laptops are thin and light now. One big downside for me is the speakers are terrible. They don't get loud enough.. so, plan on headphones or an external speaker set if you want to stream movies and TV shows.
All in all, I definitely recommend. MSI may not be a well known brand to a lot of consumers but they've been around forever making computer parts. I had an MSI laptop maybe 10 years ago and it was a tank. One good thing about this laptop is that you can upgrade the hard drive and RAM, which is becoming increasingly difficult or impossible to do now.

Literally an amazing buy for the price! I bought this computer because I needed a windows backup for some terminal related needs. The specs, price, built quality and this being an MSI is definitely a really good buy. Like I said, I needed a windows backup for some software testing and I loved it's performance. Considering it's performance; this computer is def great for your everyday needs.
It has backlit keyboard and a usb-c port along with traditional usb-a ports. Not a touch screen incase that's something you need.

I think as a budget laptop, this is good. As a mid-tier level system, it blends the best of quality build (without it being single-aluminum casing or whatever sure) it’s not an apple product, but it was less than 4 bills on sale total with an ssd an intel 10th, more drive space would be cool like a 256, but that and things like entry to mid level quality materials with mid level guts and in-between (REALLY DECENT SCREEN I mean I see these ips and rather high resolution screens in 6-800 laptops) so there are a lot of wins here. It’s msi too, you’re not paying for branding.

Great quality computer. Price point is very attractive especially on sales. I used to avoid i3 Intel processors because how slow they could be. I wanted to give this one a try and I am glad I did. This computer is pretty fast. Feels like quality built. In summary, great computer for people with basic computing needs

PROs:
Bought as deal of day for $349 5/7/2021
CPU 2.1 to 4.1 GHz
Good screen color and resolution.
Backlit keyboard has several intensity choices.
CPU good, mid-ranged though, imo
Lightweight easy transport.
One USB-C, but 2 USB-2
As a backup for basic work good.
Battery life acceptable 5-8.
CONs:
128 SSD has only about 45 GB free to user.
8 GB ram shared with integrated graphics slower response time.
Per manual, RAM ungradable to 32. Only one memory slot,
DDR4 3200 16 GB at $95-135 not cost beneficial for me.
This unit seems to be an international version.
2W speakers ' volume too low.
Specs say Discrete graphics adapter model. (??)

It's very small and lightweight, perfect for college. The battery is ok but it doesn't last long if you play some games (I only play fortnite). For school, it is more than enough. It boots fast and runs smooth. Doesn't have much capacity but you could a portable USB HDD of 1 TB for like, $50? Sth like that. Good choice, always recommend MSI, one of the best brand out there.

I am impressed with this laptop's speed, visual HD colors, and all of this packed in a light-weight shell. The illuminated keyboard makes it look so stunning. I understand this is a gaming laptop, however I wanted something light but powerful enough to transport when needed. It does the job for me.

I needed a laptop that I can use while traveling that I wouldn't care if it gets damaged or stolen. I found this one on sale. I picked this laptop because it has 1920 x 1080 (Full HD), it's light and compact, backlit keyboard, and has a good amount of memory. It feels premium and the screen is great.
I use it for daily basic tasks, check email, web surfing, youtube, Google docs, etc while traveling without any issues. It has good battery life. This isn't a gaming laptop and I knew this when I bought it. Highly recommend it when it goes on sale.

I was pleasantly surprised with all the features on this laptop. The back-lit keyboard, 8gbs of ram, full 1080p screen etc. A couple of cons that i found is the volume for 1. It could be a little louder and the hinge has 2 raised bumps on the back that when you have it on your lap can push into your legs. For the price i dont think you can go wrong though.

This is an excellent laptop for basic use - checking emails and browsing. 14" screen size is nice and compact. The battery lasted for several hours before needing a recharge. The best I loved was the keyboard backlit functionality for such a price. Intel I3 processor is a decent one that gives enough processing power and 128 GB SSD ensures stability of the hard disk. Value for money overall.

Love this laptop! It has a great screen and easy to use keyboard. I got this to do 3D rendering and it handles everything I have thrown at it. I also use an m1 Macbook air and this doesn't feel like less of a device. Do yourself a favor and upgrade to a 512 ssd and then it will be the perfect machine.

I usually get Dell, now I am an MSI convert. Love this portable laptop. I have purchased 4 for the family in June 2021 as I have been replacing media consumption devices. Perfect for streaming and carrying around. I was hesitant because it is I3. But have not had any problems with multiple windows, Zoom, or anything that I need to do for work from home. I have a pad, smartphone, gaming laptop, and desktop. Nice Build quality, Backlight keys. 1080. Volume is lower due to downward speakers. I use earphones or bluetooth speaker when needed.

I’m an APPLE MACBOOK SNOB, and i was impressed with this little metal laptop.
- Keyboard light is bright LED white.
- Screen brightness and clarity is excellent but not macbook retina level, but still good enough.
I exchanged a HP OMEN as that had a clumsy keyboard and dim keyboard lighting and an awful screen clarity.
I use this for occasional lightweight tasks, that requires windows OS.

Nice overall quality for the entry level to the brand.
Humble specs but good performance for the price. Very nice backlit keyboard and display. I hoped it could be charged via USB-C.
Keyboard layout a little bit weird. I don't get used to the last column of the keyboard.
