Customers praise the Self Heating Travel Mug's ability to maintain drinks at the desired temperature for extended periods and its convenient USB charging capabilities. However, some users find the lid design inconvenient and the mug's size and weight to be drawbacks. The 12-ounce capacity is also a point of contention for some customers who prefer larger volumes. Overall, the temperature control and battery life are highlighted as positive aspects, while the lid and size are frequently cited as areas for improvement.

works as intended and keeps the coffee at the set temp. The battery does drain quickly when your preferred drinking temp is much lower than the actual temp that it comes from the coffee maker. I would assume that the battery doesnt drain as much when heating. Overall a solid product

Was a christmas gift for my mom. Unfortunately the battery did not charge so i had to exchange for a new one. After receiving the new mug i decided maybe it would be nice to have a spare battery in case the new one craps out & the battery life is only about 4 hrs. Got a response and the batteries are not sold separately. This is kind of ridiculous. How are there no batteries out there to have on hand. I mean there are ZERO!! on eBay, amazon, or anywhere you can think. So just a little caution if you're thinking about picking this up.

I work from home and my coffee is always going cold. I thought would be a good hybrid to keep my coffee warm while working in my home office but also when I have to jump in the truck for a site visit or errand. Anyhow the battery lasts half as long as they say and well, my Yeti keeps the coffee warmed and for longer even with the Mug on the lowest setting. I returned it a month ago with confirmation, still waiting on Best Buy to process the return,.

Muggo came nicely packaged. At first I didn't see the instructions which were on the sleeve that the charging plate was in. Turning on is just tapping the logo on the mug. Then adjusting the temp is pretty much self explanatory. The charging plate accommodates 2 batteries or the mug alone and 1 battery. I found the blue led irratting. It does not need to be on ALL the time. Could've been implemented better like downward facing to create a softer glow. The first time I used the Muggo I took just the mug and magnetic battery base. In a standard open cup holder this will probably do fine. But in my cup holder that has rubber stability flaps, they grip the base when removing and it separates from the body. Then I have 2 squeeze my fingers in the cup holder to fish it out. The Muggo keeps my coffee at my set temp for the rated 3 hours. So I will have HOT coffee for at least 3 hours. But I drink well over 12ozs in the AM so it is lacking in the quantity department. The mug looks nice with the matte black finish but it is an utter fingerprint magnet. My favorite ceramic matte black mug has the same issue.
Conversely, the lid is super glossy and is showing scratches after the first wash prior to using it. The entire lid seems too over built. Washing the underside thoroughly is a chore due to the build. It does however do a pretty decent job in not leaking. Drinking from it is not the most ideal experience. Liquid does not pour out smoothly, rather it dribbles out.
A travel charger would be nice or the ability to charge in the car or somewhere away from the base.
When charged, Muggo keeps my coffee hot and is simple to use but there are some definite areas that need improvement. I would most likely use this at home or in the office (without the lid) only and not as a 'travel' mug.

Hasn't even been a month and it already stopped working properly. The digital screen became dysfunctional then it stopped working all together. Unfortunately this started happening right after my return period expired. @bestbuy please extend your return period. This is unacceptable for such an expensive product.

A Nifty Beverage Accessory

The Muggo Self-Heating Travel Mug is quite splendid with a few caveats, but nears the perfect item for a warm beverage drinker at home or on the go.
The parts include the mug and lid, battery, and the charging tray with two ports. The charging tray has two ports, one for USB-C charging and the other for a wall charger. This allows for versatility as far as where the cup may be placed in use or the battery charging otherwise. There is a magnetic connection between the tray, battery, and mug and the charging of the actual items is through wireless charging using the dock which is splendid. The mug and lid screw together, providing a secure fit between them.
The mug itself. The mug turns on when placed onto the charging tray. The mug is also able to be turned on by pressing the muggo icon on the mug itself. Setting the temperature is simple using the touch plus and minus buttons. The mug will also turn off simply, by holding the muggo icon for two seconds and verifying the off command once displayed. I was surprised by the touch aspect of the cup, as there is no demarcation if the cup is off, which is quite sleek.
Now, the lid. The lid is a ceramic halo with a push-to-open lid. The lid made me feel a bit stupid with initial unboxing. I could not figure out how to open the lid. I actually had considered that this “travel mug” would only be able to be used by unscrewing the top. But, after some attempts I clicked it down with that lovely push-to-open and everything made sense! Sounds silly, I know, but I’ve never used a push-to-open lid before, so, caught myself a little off guard.
And finally, the use. Place a beverage into the mug and turn it on. With the mug placed on the charging tray or the battery attached to the mug, turn the mug on and it will warm your beverage to desired temperature if not already there. If above the temperature, the mug will monitor the temperature until the drink falls slightly below desired temperature and then warm the beverage to the desired point. Now, for myself, I know I like my drink warm but what temperature should be used? I looked up a research article (go figure, it existed) and found that average preferred temperature is 136F and I have to admit it worked quite well for myself. The battery and mug (off of tray) has kept my drink WARM (refilled actually) at desired temperature for about 3 and a half hours. An impressive amount of time. I have not tried to heat the drink using the battery versus length yet. I would assume it will greatly diminish battery, so absolutely keep on the tray during this point.
With the use, I noticed two issues I had with the mug. First being the 360 push-to-open lid. Personally, I do not enjoy “pushing” the lid with my finger. And also, the flow out of the leak-proof lid, is slow. This could be considered a good or bad thing, as speed of liquid hinders drinking but also would prevent a lot of hot liquid scorching the mouth. Personally, just not a huge fan of the lid design. The other issue I had, is more of a distraction, and honestly for some I feel would be absolutely frustrating. When the mug is warming (temperature under desired set point), the temperature indicator flashes. The flashing can be quite distracting if in a dark room or if the mug is near line of sight.
Overall, this mug would be great for a busy workplace like a hospital or office, the home, or on the go. And this is advertised as a coffee mug, but you absolutely may use for other beverages, for example hot tea was splendid with this mug!

A Great Addition To My Day

I always bring a cup of coffee from home to work every morning and one of the things that irks me the most my coffee going cold. Coffee gone cold is wasted money. A vacuum seal mug does help a lot, but it's those last few sips that are disappointing. This is where the Muggo shines.
Each brew of coffee maintained my desired temperature of 135 degrees for about 2 hours, which was plenty of time to keep my coffee hot down to the last sip. My only minor complaint was the lid that seems to only allow sips of beverage at a time. I found it much easier to drink with the lid off; it's only purpose now is to make sure that I don't spill coffee on my way to work. I'm guessing with the lid off, it has to work harder to maintain temperature and shortens the battery life for the day.
Controls are all capacitive touch and this helps keep the mug water resistance during washes. The Muggo logo, which sits a quarter of the way down from the top, is your on/off and temperature mode selection button. Towards the bottom are your temperature controls seated on either side of the temperature reading. The mug will give you a real time temp reading for as long as there is battery life. I find the capacitive temnperature controls to be hit or miss sometimes, like you have to tap it in just the right spot. But once you're dialed in, this thing doesn't disappoint.
It comes with a charging base with two charging slots. If you know you're working at your desk all day, you can just simply put the mug right on the charger without the battery and it will keep your beverage warm and keep the battery on the other slot when you need to be on the move. You can even charge the battery while attached to the mug and still keep your beverage warm, although it does feel a bit bulky with the battery attached.
I'd like to share that I was initially given a mug that was defective; since then, the kind folks at Muggo were able to provide a replacement mug and I have not encountered any problems that I reported initially. My only real complaint is the lid.
I will continue to use this mug daily.

This mug turned out to be a waste of $130. Within a couple of months, the spring-operated top broke (quit opening/closing). A few months later, the cup stopped heating. We wrote to customer service and never heard back.

Nifty Mug

This is one of the more curious piece of tech that I have ever reviewed. It looks great. It is easily the best looking coffee mug I have had. The packaging is beautiful. Instructions were lacking though. Most of the set up was intuitive.
The battery charging station does not quantify the charge BUT it does change color. Red means less charge and blue light means charging has happened. It does not show when charging is complete. The light and the charging set up looks great as well.
It keeps your drink warm. The lid is leak-proof. Period. But the hole is just too small and you feel more comfortable drinking with the lid off. The battery held charge for at least 3 hours in my testing.. The entire set-up works nicely and you have your coffee warm for a long time. It looks good in the car. If looks could kill this would be a stunner, though the tumbler is a fingerprint magnet.
Do you need this? It's a question the consumer needs to answer as this is not cheap. It is more of a novelty item in my honest opinion. If you really want this for whatever specific reason it might be, you will like it. This can be a good surprise gift as well. But if you are busy and like to run with your coffee out the door and don't have time to hand-wash your tumblers then this may not be for you. 3 hours of warm coffee is great but it will also become a little stale.

This mug works! It will keep your coffee hot for hours. Personal preference will depend on how long the battery will last. It has a great range of temperature, from pleasantly warm to scalding! It would be perfect for an office setting. The "Coaster" charging plate can charge 2 batteries or just set the muggo on it to keep warm. The way the battery attaches is awesome! Just stick it on and go.
This is a great start for a companies first product. I would like to see bigger sizes, 12oz doesn't last very long. (I need at least 20) The top is a great travel mug top (drink from any angle!) but hard to clean. It needs to be able to come apart.
I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed for a larger size and hopefully the company is working on a cooling mug for the summer!
