I have anxiety that bothers me quite a bit, so I tried out the muse. It is a headband with sensors at your forehead and behind the ears. It pairs via bluetooth to your phone, where it has an app called Calm. The sensors read your brainwaves and the app on the phone is able to tell if you are relaxed and calm or if you are actively thinking. The app guides you through a meditation session, and in the meditation session you hear beach sounds - waves on the beach and wind. The more relaxed you are, the more gentle waves you hear. The more active your mind, the more wind you hear. In this way you get real time feedback about your meditation session,which helps you to guide your mind towards relaxation. After the session you get data about your meditation session, including how calm you were, and you can track this info over time. It has helped me reduce my anxiety in daily life and helped me to become detached from the negative thoughts. My girlfriend also uses it a lot, and she says it really helps her to focus and have a clear mind in a way nothing else has done.
