I usually don’t buy movies on 4K from categories other than Action/Adventure or Sci-f. But certain films in other categories merit a look when they have a punch sound mix or score that is incredible. The picture quality is great, but I think the soundtrack alone merits the upgrade. True they could’ve added a Dolby Atmos soundtrack to a remastered Blu-ray, but the film is old enough that it seemed to benefit from the 4K process. Not too grainy, and I said before, the score, especially at the end of the movie sounds excellent.

I don’t know who I would recommend this to except for people over forty. This is the quintessential raunchy 70s college campus humor movie. I think it’s supposed to take place in the 60s. While it can look dated and not as bombastic as it would be if it were retold today, it has a simper approach to this kind of adult material. That being said, I could this film charming and the humor stand up to the test of time. From Wikipedia: (2001, the United States Library of Congress deemed Animal House "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" and selected it for preservation in the National Film Registry. It was No. 1 on Bravo's "100 Funniest Movies". It was No. 36 on AFI's "100 Years... 100 Laughs" list of the 100 best American comedies. In 2008, Empire magazine selected it as No. 279 of "The 500 Greatest Movies of All Time".)

Frankly, John Belushi's performance alone is enough to make this movie an incredible classic. He may have been the funniest comedic actor ever. It's truly a shame that he died so young. In fact, he was supposed to act in Ghostbusters. (I think he would have been hilarious as one of the Ghostbusters.) In any case, compared to the edited-for-TV (cleaner) version that I saw as a kid, I felt like I got to watch the entire film in its full glory. Glorious indeed! Toga! Toga!

Despite its rightful status as a classic comedy, I never thought I would see Animal House ever get a 4K Ultra HD release. Yet, here we are and the results are quite impressive. The John Landis comedy has always looked rather bland on previous home video formats, but the new 4K transfer finally gives the comedy some vitality. For the first time since its theatrical days, a home video release of Animal House looks like a really nice film print instead of an oversharpened, noisy mess. Are there drawbacks? Only a couple. It would have been nice to have the original theatrical mono sound (only a 5.1 DTS track is included) and there are no new extras included, only the legacy one from previous blu-ray and DVD editions. Still, if you love the film -as do I,- this is a must have for your 4K UHD library.

A classic and worth the price for the steelbook edition . 4K AND BLUERAY option delivers cleaner picture and sound quality to enjoy in your home system, alsokinda helps you forget that the movie was mad3 in 1978 and at the much of the gags had to rely on writing to achieve cinematic effect. Although in todays social climate some people are going to have issues but its still holds up as a great American comedy.

This raunchy, rollicking, good time of a movie where anything goes brought back a lot of memories from back in the day. Watching it again took me back the 70's. A joy. The 4k picture is a solid transfer, even better is the sound which really stands out. It is strong and detailed throughout the disc even for an older film like this. A must have for your collection.

This is hands down the best edition of this film to date. The steelbook perfectly represents the film, the matte finish feels great, and the on disc content has the looking version of the film ever. Top it off with some great extras and you have a the best release of Animal House possible.

Unable to gain acceptance at the snootier fraternities they pledge, the Deltas, a a motley crew of misfits and sociopaths bent on disrupting the well-starched status quo, engage in various illegalities that land them in hot water with both the stern college dean and the neighboring jock fraternity. Their exploits eventually cause them to be placed on double-secret probation, until finally, they are kicked out of school and, as the dean reminds them, newly eligible for the Vietnam draft.

4k scan shows as grainy copy on my 4k player, and, like WW84, freezes intermittantly, & have to stop & reload then go to scene last viewed. in other words, normal operation. who can forget John Belushi in his role ? very good frat comedy. still a joy to watch.

John Landis and John Belushi. There's not much to say about this classic that hasn't already been said. This belongs in every comedy fan's film library. The transfer is about as good as to be expected for this type of film from this era, so I am quite pleased.

The classic comedy finally hits 4K. This isn't the kind of movie that's going to wow visually, but it's a respectable transfer, and the politically incorrect humor is as funny as ever. Fans shouldn't be disappointed with this release.

This movie has never looked better this is what 4K is all about this film is still very funny today as it was when it came out it brings me back to my youth I recommend this film and if you have it on Blu-ray this is a big upgrade on 4K’s so don’t feel guilty if you double dip

If you like Animal House, this is the edition to get. The 4k picture is more impressive than I could have ever imagined. The previous formats did not do justice to the film. Some of the aspects have not aged well, but if you are a fan of the film, get the 4k.

I absolutely love this movie, it brought back so many fun memories. I got the steelbook limited edition 4k movie, and the special features for the the Animal House movie are so frickin awesome and funny . I'm really happy with this purchase, I Love this movie.

Very good transfer. Very colorful. Better than the blu ray I have. Worth the double dip. Very impressed with John Belushi. Gross but funny. John B is sorely missed. Too bad he had to die the way he did. My frat life was not anything like in the movie

I love the class picture as the cover. Everything else is exactly the same, though the colors are much nicer (much like Blue Brothers transfer). Let's be honest, if you're here... You've seen the movie and are probably upgrading formats. Just do it.

I was upgrading my movie collection and noticed I did not have this. I do not normally get the Steelbooks, but it was the same price as the regular 4K version. I highly recommend this movie to anyone looking for a classic comedy in the college genre!

Animal House is a timeless comedy classic. You either love or hate the film. Im on the side of love and think this movie is still funny today and the standard for all other college humor movies to live up to and compare themselves to. Buy the blu ray the transfer is decent and extras are great. It was only 5 bucks at Best buy on sale
