Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the E618 Elliptical's sturdiness and quiet operation as significant advantages. However, some users mention challenges with the assembly process, and a few note that the machine's size and stride length may not suit everyone. The accuracy of the distance tracking is also a point of concern for some customers. While many appreciate its robust build and low noise, potential buyers should consider the assembly time and the machine's overall dimensions.

    Good, no frills elliptical

I purchased this elliptical about 1 month ago and so far I like it but it could be better. While there is Bluetooth connectivity to connect to their app, there is not an option to connect to your phone for music. Instead, there is a short cord to plug into your phone which many cell phones no longer have. Aside from that, assembly was slightly difficult, but I was also assembling by myself instead of with the help of another person. The settings are pretty standard and user friendly...no fancy bells and whistles. If you are looking for a good workout and are planning to use another device for entertainment, then this is perfect for you. Oh, I should also note that I purchased this when it was on sale for $1299, so the price was great!

We purchased this elliptical at Best Buy. They came in and put it together. They did an excellent job. We have a small place and wanted an elliptical to work out. It fits so well in our place. We really enjoyed the machine. It had a low noise when they first put it together but as we use the machine more it went away in a couple of days. I would suggest taking the warranties with Best Buy for peace of mind. We recommend buying it. It was a great investment for our family.

After much research, I chose this model based on the heavy flywheel, adjustable foot pads, multi-position arms, and long warranty. BBY delivered and brought the box into my basement, which was very helpful. I assembled myself - which took about 3 hours, with a bit of assistance on the electrical connections. Pro tip: pull up the online manual that has much more complete assembly instructions than those included in the box. As for the machine - I am generally very pleased. I set up profiles for the 4 of us in the household which makes it very convenient to start up a program or begin a workout. The machine is incredibly quiet, no issues at all with TV or conversations in the room. I've enjoyed the workout program options, and the overall weight and performance of the machine. The reason I gave this 4 instead of 5 stars is that although this is a great machine, it still lacks some of the smoothness and features of gym equipment (that may cost between $3-5K). The lowest resistance settings are fairly difficult, which other reviewers have noted. However, once you build up a bit of stamina in your workout this will not be an issue. Recommended!

    Quality Hardware; Misleading Connectivity Features

My ratings and review are based on two areas of the product; 1) the physical device and 2) connectivity and features it provides.   It’s also based on my experience owning the Icon Fitness A32E Elliptical, an equivalently priced and featured machine (in 2012). The e618 is very solid.  The 4 wheel design is outstanding. It will reduce wear on key parts.   The spring loaded adjustable foot pedals absorb some of the impact on my joints.  I give the unit 2 out of 2.5 stars. Connectivity is a totally different story.   The onboard computer does have pre programmed and custom program workouts.  However, none of those will adjust the incline.   The incline can only be manually changed while you are running.  This is different than what I was used to.  Not sure if this is common in the industry or not.  But I was disappointed in that.   The onboard computer does not accurately compute distance and speed.   I realize with these things it’s all relative.    But in two separate 31 minute workouts, both at a resistance rating of 7, I achieved 65 RPM on one and only 54 RPM on the other workout.   Yet both computed distances of 2.0 miles and calorie burn of 181 and 186.   The old machine would have had differences proportional to the RPMs.   On my old Elliptical, the machine and iFit would have measured these workouts at about 3.2 miles and 400-500 calories burned.   Considering I can walk at a fast pace and achieve two miles in 31 minutes without breaking a sweat, I’m fairly certain this unit is not close to accurate and iFit was more realistic. Then there is the issue of what was advertised “Bluetooth® connectivity — offers a seamless transition of workout data to supported smart devices. Track metrics on our free Explore the World™App — or transfer data to any of our fitness app partners."   This is part misleading and part a lie when you consider the logos of Google Fit and Underarmour apps advertised next to this statement.    What I confirmed with their support is you cannot transfer the metrics recorded on the onboard computer anywhere.   You have to be running their Explore theWorld app, on one of their routes/videos, while you do an onboard workout for the data to get recorded in Explore the World. From there it can be automatically transferred to Strava.   But that is where it ends.  No other connectivity (Android platform) is provided.  Not Google Fit.   No MapMyRide.   And no seamless transition of workout data from the device.   False advertising. Finally, while distance and calories burned are very subjective from machine to machine and app to app, the E618 and Explore the World couldn’t be more different.  My 31 minute workouts consistently produce distances of 2.0 and 2.1 miles.  However, those same workouts with Explore the World turned on, it is recording distances of 4.32 miles to as much as 6.11 miles.  It appears the only thing that is getting transferred consistently between the two devices is total calories.   I can’t believe this app is basing distance on total calories though. Granted the app is new and these things might get fixed over time.   I’ll provide updates if they improve.   I’m very frustrated at this purchase, not at the quality of the machine, but the misleading information on connectivity that convinced me to spend more than I should have.   $1299 is not too much for what was advertised, but it is too much for what I received.

I’ve had this for a month now and I like that it has profiles for each user, programs, the heart rate strap, and it’s smooth and has a heavy fly wheel and a water bottle holder. I like that I can increase the resistance with a button on the arm bar. It also has a good warranty. What I don’t like is that it’s difficult to move because it’s so heavy, it sometimes makes squeek noises from the frame and the arm bars are very narrow so you have to time it to get the water bottle from the cage or else your arm will take a beating. Another oddity is that the calorie count is super low. For example if I spend an hour on it at 155bpm average it says I burn under 200 calories while the Fitbit app says 600. But I guess who cares what the machine says about calories. Also sometimes the pause button gets stuck and I have to tap on it to unstuck it.

I purchased this machine in January of 2021. My goal was to own a machine so that I would use it and exercise often. This machine is definitely worth the $$ and offers you all you really need. No high tech display, but comfortable foot pedals that offer 4 different tensions. I like the setting that offers a spring in your step as it allows me to bounce while running. You can easily change the resistance and incline yet I can not move past the lowest setting on both. It has been difficult for me to use beyond 30 minutes as the resistance is high. I am currently in contact with Nautilus directly to set up an appointment for a technician to check the resistance and fix a foot peddle that came damaged. Nautilus was very helpful in supporting the issues that I had. This is a high quality machine for a good price and Best Buy offers financing and someone to set it up for you for a decent price. I highly recommend this machine and paying extra to have someone set it up for you. FYI I purchased a large floor mat from Best Buy to lay under the machine and it fits perfectly with room around it.

Great packing and ease of delivery. I had to wait over three weeks to get delivered as I could only receive it on certain days. Assembly was easy peasy and did in 3-1/2 hours by myself; female in 50’s. The only issue I have with this elliptical is my stride is longer than what the elliptical allows so I can’t get full range of motion. I’ll have to call nautilus to see if I can change it somehow. I’ll have to see if this will work for me in the long run. It seems like a great sturdy machine but the stride length may be a deal breaker for me and I’m only 5’6”.

    How to fix the squeak

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

After assembling it, I noticed it squeaks like crazy. I had thought that one or more of the wheels were dragging. However I figured out that if you remove the rubber wheels under the footbeds, there is a spacer that is causing the whole problem. It looks like a mangled washer. It’s meant to gently push the wheel away from the inside end of the axle. Remove the washer/spacers and the squeaky sound goes away. And BTW, I paid $999 (discounted from $1399) for this. Why is it on sale, 2 months later, for $490?? There’s another spot where the arms meet the main frame where I had to leave two screws out and heavily coat the area with vasoline. The tolerances between two moving pieces of plastic is too tight

The Nautilus E618 is a pretty sturdy machine. I didn't have a hard surface to set it on, it's currently on carpet so the machine does move a bit but it's a pretty good machine. The customer service at Nautilus is absolutely horrible!!! Thank Goodness I purchased this from Best Buy instead of them directly. Best Buy customer service is way better. This will take some serious time to put together, (took use about 5 hours), you will not get a response from Nautilus for help. Hopefully you have someone handy nearby.

I got this elliptical after lots of shopping because it has the best warranty. I've been using it 4 to 6 times per week. It seems like a good machine, but the display is very unimpressive, and for $1,500, the display is a joke. First, when you read that it has Bluetooth, that's a lie. You can only use Bluetooth with a few useless apps. You have to plug your phone into it to play music. Second, the display doesn't count calories or distance correctly, and it can be difficult to get a heart rate to display. Finally, just don't expect anything like you would at a gym. The screen is a solid blue background with lighter blue/white blocks to make words and numbers. It's the same look and technology as one of those old computers from the '80s, except it's blue instead of yellow. As far as assembly, I was able to do it, but there are no instructions...just weird pictures with arrows that had me turning the book all around with a strange look on my face wondering who would come up with such a bad idea for instructions. Overall recommendation... maybe just get a super cheap elliptical if you're not overweight. It will still get your heart rate up, and you can use your other $1,300 towards a gaming computer or something.

Was a little nervous buying this expensive and heavy contraption without seeing it. Reviews on Consumer Reports indicated ok, and I had used Nautilus equipment in gyms for years. The 230 pound box arrived by truck, and I incented the drivers to lug the contraption upstairs to my bedroom (current exercise facility) The assembly went well, although I am a builder of 'stuff' for many years. It works and I am slowly getting a little healthier as my normal exercise program (Handball and Softball) has been blown away by the COVID-19. Device works well, I suspect the display will get the next update, but that is ok for me. in general a good purchase so far, and the only problem is my motivation for more exercise.

The elliptical was installed and assembled by Geek Squad members, so I cannot comment on that process if someone wants to do themselves. My elliptical seems to have everything it is supposed to have except for the chest strap to monitor heartbeat. It came with a shorthand guide which did not answer all my questions so I downloaded and printed out the full user manual. I found the controls less intuitive than gym models and had to refer to user manual to work some of the features. After doing so, it is a lot easier to use each time and presents no issues in terms of loading a preloaded program and adjusting incline as needed. In looking at other reviews of this elliptical, I have a few comments. The arms are as noted, pretty close together. This makes getting water I place in the central cup not so easy. I have to watch it to not get hit by one of the moving arms. Learning curve. I also can see how if someone wanted to read something placed in the top section. The machine also is not the steadiest/rocks a bit (knocked my cellphone off once from top shelf) when machine used to go faster. I am not sure if the machine was leveled correctly by the Geek Squad or if a machine issue. The machine also under reports calories severely. This is taking into account the known fact that fitness devices cannot accurately portray calories burned. It still only measures a third of what I would at the gym on a similar machine or equates 30 minutes of medium effort and working up a sweat to same calories burned by me walking at about 3.3 mph, which is simply not possible. So if the measurements matter this wouldn't be the device to go with. I am fine with it as I know I am working out and don't need the calorie counter as proof to my level of engagement. So far I am happy with my purchase. It will hopefully be usable for several years.

Heavy duty piece of equipment for the home market. Very sturdy with a very heavy flywheel. Being made for home it will squeak as compared to gym machines but it is one of the best values in home ellipticals. It took about a month of consistent use to break in and now works very smooth.

Very very quiet. My husband doesn't even know I am working out and we live in an apartment. But the stride was a little to long for me. I am 5'4" and still way to long so my arms also feel like they are reaching too far. If I knew that i would not have purchase. But I do like how quiet and easy it is to use. Maybe if the feet were wider so I could stand closer and not have such a long reach I would like a lot more. Oh and was pretty easy to put together. But no way would i attempt to take apart to return. So I will just deal with the long reach
