I can honestly say for the past few seasons NBA live has been outdone, outperformed and outclassed by a superior title in 2K. EA seemed to focus more on gimmics like SUPERSTAR and ALLSTAR player moves and things like that, and less focused on providing an authentic NBA basketball experience. Well this year, I think someone got the message. LIVE 08 did a wonderful job of making more of a simulation game. The player models are very good (most look IDENTICAL to the actual character) the game runs at a smooth 60 fps. Jumpshots are detailed to the player and not generic, and the total control dribble system allows you to create hundreds of crossover/spin combinations. New to this year's version are the GO-TO moves, in which your favorite players unique shots and abilities are replicated flawlessly. Tony Parker's teardrop floater, D. Wade's stepback J, you name it. Not to mention a revamped post game that looks like Kevin McHale motion captured himself. (He had 1000+ moves in the post.) The All-Star weekend is back and revamped in better detail, and ESPN access is at your fingertips all the time. I do wish the game was in 1080p as the egdes on the players are a little rough, and in the dunk contest the player sometimes dunks next to the rim and not in it. (Rare) The 3 point shootout is VERY difficult on the superstar level too. The gameplay over all is AWESOME. The games are fluid, the AI is challenging, and you really get into the game. Look out 2K this year EA has stepped it up!!!

This game is very good, the gameplay is getting better and better for the ps3 and they have so many things to do in this game including the slam dunk contest, 3 point shootout, and also the FIFA world championship. The one thing i wish they would add is the skills challenge

Every little quirk about previous NBA Live editions that I have hated in the past, have been dramatically improved on this 2008 PS3 edition. I love the improvements that were made to franchise mode: now gives you the option of simulating coach hiring, scouting etc. no more waiting period for potential trades, allows you to use selling points of your team, city etc. to negotiate with free agents, now offers a mid-level exception to free agents . . . you when trying to make trades, you don't have to wait 3 days. you don't have to do the math to see if you are within an acceptable trade range between mutiple players (it does the math for you and gives you a green light when in range). I love the game play on the PS3 . . . player movements, versatility with the remote, accuracy of stat updates while in-game. The look/feel/view is amazing . . . it feels like I'm watching an actual NBA game on TV!

Very fun game to have and the replay value is high especially if you have competitive friends...if not the online feature allows you to play against other players on the net. Controls are easy to pick up. If you've played previous Live titles, not much has changed. All-Star Weekend is a fun game mode which offers the 3-point shootout, dunk contest (a personal favorite), and the rookie/sophomore game (which isn't really all that fun to watch in real life). Some minor setbacks on this game inclue delays on the menu options screen. The rosters in the actual NBA changes contantly so expecting rosters to be up to date might be unrealistic, but EA really needs to have updated rosters available more frequently.

I was always a fan of the 2K series but I decided to venture out and toy with the Live series once again. I was always left feeling let down by superb graphics and poor game play but this year EA stepped up. Just like all games there are some glitches but that is easy to over look. The handling of the players are smooth and crossover dribbles seem a bit more realistic. Player models seem to be dead on with many players. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone.

this game looks so realistic my wife thought i was watching a laker game on cable, not playing one. the controls are easy to get a feel for. online play offers competetive games for all levels. alot of people playing online. my favorite sports game ever! a definite buy at $39.99.

NBA Live 08 is the best basketball game out there. The graphics are rivaled by no other. I really like the Hotspots feature because it forces you to use your players like they play in real life. The only problem is that the refs are a little questionable. Sometimes a weak hit is called a foul and other times hard contact is left alone. But all in all a must for any basketball fan.

Eventhough this game is only 720p, it has really good graphics, the players' uniforms look really cool, shiny. The gameplay is really good, with new attractive features like the Go To Moves and the NBA Hot Spots. Go To Moves are unique moves from the NBA stars like Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Wade, etc. which allow you to step away from your defender and shoot, real handy most of the times. And the NBA Hot Spots which let you know where in the floor, your player has the best chances to score. The Dynasty Mode is also a nice feature, a little bit complicated at the beginning, but once you get used to it is really cool. Overall, it is a really good NBA game for the PS3, you can play de FIBA tournament, NBA All Star Weekend, plenty of things that will keep you busy. If you are a NBA fan, this game is for you.

I do not actually own this game, but over Thanksgiving I played it at my relatives house and i loved it. The graphics for this game are wicked awesome and the controls are flawless, especially the new free throw shooting method. I would definitely recommended this game to any sports fan, and i know what i'm asking for for Xmas.

I love nba live 08.. online is amazing and so are the graphics... the only thing is that i wish there was a create a superstar like there is in madden.. that would be awesome.

Well have nba 2k7 nba 08 and nba life well life is better then all of those together just better handling better gaming experience better sounds and no loading screen my favorite.

Graphics aren't as sharp as they are made out to be on the demo. Some players are more authentic then others. Some flaws in offensive fouls and shooting lay-ups. Other then that, game play is great and this is probably one of the better NBA games I've played. Online play if great.

Nba Live 08 is a great basketball game, if you like real basketball. EA give you the actual shots nba stars make in real games instead on other game you make any shots allday and the nba star don't make a hole lot of shots in that place that's fake. If you don't like to take control of a game by picking the best shots and passing the ball to the right person to score than get the other fake games like NBA2K 08.

freezes up every once in awhile but a great game graphics are great what i expect from ea unlike madden this year look forward to next year

When in "practice mode", your player will basically make every shot that is within his range. While in an actual game though, you miss a lot of high percentage shots like when shooting in the paint. The only shot that you can really depend on is a dunk/layup while posting up in the paint, but just hope that your player doesn't wait to shoot while directly under or behind the backboard which happens a lot. I didn't think it was that easy to miss 3 feet from the basket. When a player takes a charge they do not fall to the ground, so it is not immediately known if it is an offensive or defensive foul for a couple seconds until it is displayed. Free throw shooting is also a little weird. I will probably stay away from EA for now on.

This to me is the best nba game out there right now for the playstation 3. the graphics are great and i love everything about it. i would definetely recommend this game if you like basketball

This game is so real and every player acts like he does on the court. Buy this game, and you won't regret it.

It's an okay game but I would recommend 2k8, Which is better in all senses.

do not buy this product unless you think that a single gameplay option outside of quick play is fun. the controls are weird, the graphics are great, but greatly outweighed by the lack of depth and features.

if you just want to play another nba game, then this is the one. but it is worse from all the previous titles that EA released. plus it plays really slow, control is really not there. good thing when EA dropped the price, this is not even worth it.
