Best Robotic Vacuum We've Used

The Neato BotVac just works. It cleans our hardwood and carpeted floors without a complaint. In fact, we liked it so much we bought another one to handle the upstairs cleaning so we could have both running at the same time.
We were frustrated with a Roomba that constantly got stuck and wouldn't find it's way back to the charging base- the Neato was a great choice and blows it away in terms of ease of use and actually cleaning our floors.

Great little vaccum does a decent job. After a month of working he seems to get lost occasionaly when returning to charging dock. Like the bigger dirt bin.

I have three dogs in a small cluttered apartment. Using an upright or canister vacuum has become difficult because of a physical condition. After reading the reviews on the different brands and models of robo-vacs, I hesitantly decided to purchase the Botvac 80. I am happy I did so. I pick up dog toys and other items that I would move anyway with a non-robo. The Botvac 80 does the rest. I found the initial orientation necessary--learning to read the commands, what pressure to use on the "keyboard" and the like. Although I have used it several times, I still wouldn't start it and leave the house. The floor presents too many obstacles to the machine. On the other hand, I can do other things while my new friend makes its way around, seeking out all dust and hair bunnies. The machine is fairly quiet, a bonus in my mind. Another bonus--the dogs are fascinated by it, watch its every move, and aren't bothered by the sound. All in all I am more than satisfied with the purchase.

I first saw Neato at a Costco special event and thought, that solves everything! I was going to pick it up a few days later but before I could get back, it moved to another store. I kept thinking about it and started looking online, only to find Neato makes several different models then that changed everything. In my usual way, I started comparing all the models only to find all the Neato Botvacs are the same even though they have different colored caps. The difference is in the accessories in the box.
Now, if I couldn't get another, I wouldn't sell it for twice what I paid, what an awesome device. My floors and baseboards are cleaner than ever and what's more, instead of my usual lazy once a month vacuuming, they are cleaned every other day. Now, under the bed, the vanities, the kick spaces, everything is cleaned. Pet Hair, no problem! It still fills the tray every time, but the floors just look so much better. My house is 1,800 sq.ft and it takes an entire charge so perfect. As the instructions recommend, run it to complete discharge and then charge fully is perfect for my size house. You will need to "Pick Up" your house first, make sure the fringed rugs are tucked under and just do just a few preparations, but I highly recommend this little guy.

It works perfectly 75% of the time

1. As a vacuum cleaner it is an excellent device. It picks up a significant amount of pet hair/dirt/dust. The suction is excellent and better than the Roomba units I have experience with.
2. While we never intended the unit to be our primary vacuum cleaner, it has taken that position. We vacuumed the main floor of our home before using the Neato for the first time, and have not had to pull out the larger vacuum since.
3. The Neato works perfectly 75% of the time for us. It turns on, works the room, and parks itself to charge. The other 25% of the time, it gets lost, gets stuck, or ingests a cable/wire.
4. You need to prep the space to allow the Neato to really do its job. Neato does not like cables.
5. Overall we really like the device and have recommended it to others.

We were able to get this vacuum on clearance. It has performed pretty well, though we were surprised at how hard this vacuum bumped into things. It is pretty quiet for robot vacuum, Much quieter than the prior generation.

This is the second Neato unit in my household, replacing an original XV-11. My spouse absolutely loves them. The BotVac is a noticeable upgrade from the first generation units, much quieter and larger dirt bin. I wouldn't call it a necessity, but my spouse might.

I really wanted it to work

I set up and charged the unitpeor the instructions. At the first sweeping, it worked impressively, navigating around furniture with the exception of the loveseat and sofa. Unfortunately, the purple bump on the top of the unit was just enough to make it too tall to go under these pieces of furniture. It would go most of the way under and then keep bumping on that purple dome. It would then ask me to clear it's past. It was not able to go about its business without assistance. On the second use, it would stop in the middle of an open floor and ask for me to clear its path. I guess mine was just defective. I put it back on the charger. The third attempt to use it, it continuously would asked me to replace the dust bin which was firmly in place. I removed and replaced several times to no effect. I really wanted it to work, but mine just didn't. I returned it and bought a Dyson stick vac to do this sweeping manually.

After using the Mr French, that's what we named it, for about a month now, we feel that the house is cleaner and we don't have to spend our weekends vacuuming the house. Only problem I have noticed are cat stools and the very long shag area rug we have. Both are a pain. I wish this thing had a wet floor sensor.

The price point and quality of the unit make this a great choice for a robotic vacuum, occasionally acts funny when the battery is low or it's trying to charge but overall a good buy.

I was unsure of robot vacuums. But this product, neato botvac 80, is amazing! I am very pleased with the job this vacuum does. The cleaning job it performs is very good. And the way it navigates a room is mesmerizing. It's like it has eyes. The dust bin holds quite a bit. I am very satisfied.

I was torn between the Roomba 650 and the Neato Botvac 80. I eventually wen with the Botvac for 2 reasons: 1) The Botvan cleans a little closer to the edge of the wall. 2) I have seen a friend's Roomba knock into everything in his place (once knocking a vase off a table). The Neato does that a little bit, but it has yet to damage anything. It cleans very well and very quickly. I have it scheduled to vacuum twice a week while I'm at work. It just makes me feel better to come home to a clean place without having to do anything myself.

It does everything we expected. It can't pick up larger items, of course, but otherwise it does a great job. We were amazed at how well it navigated our floor plan.

Overall a good vacuum, works well on hard surface and carpeted areas. Had an issue with the first one we bought after about 30 days but Neato sent out a replacement within a week. This is not a replacement for actually cleaning your floors in your house, unless you don't have animals or kids then you can go quite a while. Even with the issue of the "eyes" not being able to read the room, we are very happy with the job this Botvac does in our house.

Coming from using the Roomba, we wanted this as it seemed to be more "efficient" at doing its job at cleaning...
I found that it was not as thorough as the Roomba, its "weight" is not "op-top" of the brushes, so does not "scrape" the floor as hard, and therefore does not "scrub" the carpets as hard/clean as the Roomba.
It is slightly more intelligent than the Roomba in that it goes in more direct-lines in its task of cleaning, but is "stopped" but the edges a lot more (where it just stops, and asks you to clear its path) so is not efficient at cleaning completely UN-attended.
It also does not get "into" all the corners in an UN-even path (where the Roomba goes around obstacles a lot, the Neato avoids the area more (so is not cleaning that area as well)
Battery life is also not great. Even though it is more efficient in the "lines" that it takes, and cleans "faster" as its does not go over the same place repeatedly in different directions (like the Roomba does) ... the batter runs out after cleaning half our house, where the Roomba, with it's thoroughness and preparedness, still manages to clean the whole house on one charge.

I have been using the NEATO everyday, especially since I have an indoor pet and it does as great job, as can be seen when the dirt bin is emptied. I influenced my parents and three of my children to buy one also, by telling them how much I enjoy it. We all love the job it does and the time we save as well as the carpet having the just vacuumed look each day. I have wood, tile, rugs and carpet and it transitions to each. It does not get stuck on the fringe on rugs either. Being able to schedule the cleaning is great too but sometimes I just start it without scheduling in advance.

We have 2 German shepherds that shed like crazy. I needed something to help assist me. It does pick up the hair. And a lot of it. But it dies so fast. After every room it dies almost every time. You'd think I live in a mansion. My house is like 900sq ft. And after the bedroom, dead. Kitchen, dead. Living room, dead. Doesn't matter how late my you charge it for. It can go to full bars to dead in sec. It does not navigate back to the docking station well. We've had it a month and I think it made its way back to charge 2 times. Both of which it was near by. For the price I wish it wouldn't die.
