Great help to keep house clean

It has a very smart navigation system, can walk around the house and get back to charge station very easy. The downside is it can stuck to cables and carpets really easy, so configure your home before unleash this robot alone in the house. The filter is small and get dirty really quick, to clean it can be difficult, I use a toothbrush to brush the filter and remove as much dirty as possible. After a while you have to put new filter as with any other vacuum cleaner. I really recommend this saying that I can't live without it right now.

Unit runs well and does a good job of cleaning. It does have some issues but overall with additional software updates it will be a solid purchase.

Neato is a very strong competitor to Roomba. I bought a Roomba before, it bumps into furniture before it turns. Whenever I hear that sound when Roomba bumps, I often worry overtime paints on my furniture will be chipped away. Neato is better as it use laser to detect things.

works well for short period, then stops working

I have gone through MANY MANY Neato's. I had the XV21, well 4 of them, they all would work great for a couple weeks and then something would go wrong. Whether it was battery life going down to literally a couple minutes, or not being able to dock anymore. I then went to the signature pro (literally the same vacuum just black rather than grey/purple) Same thing. I then upgraded to the Botvac series. Again, these work well for a while, and then something goes wrong. I had a few of them just start getting "stuck" in the middle of an open room. I went through 12, yes 12 botvacs. I have completely given up on this. They work SO well for a short period of time, and then something happens. I tested out the botvac in our new house, when we had NO furniture whatsoever in it, it was just an open space with square rooms. It would get stuck. I found myself spending more time babysitting the botvac than if I just would have vacuumed myself the old fashioned way. The botvac is quiet, and does pick up a good amount of dirt and pet hair when it is working correctly.

Works very well! I have it set to vacuum the house every day. It does get stuck occasionally, but you can purchase additional magnetic strips to keep it away from the areas that cause it trouble. It's simply amazing how much dirt this can pick up on "clean" carpets. Great purchase.

A great robotic vacuum. Does everything I expected. The shape alows it to reach into corners and it cleans in a normal vacuuming pattern. For faster results, move chairs and other obstacles from the area being vacuumed. It will go around them fine, but it takes much longer to finish a job.

    GREAT Robot Vacuum Cleaner

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Well I would say that the Neato Botvac 80 is well worth the money as I bought Gizmo (that's his name# a few weeks ago after doing a lot of research and I decided out of all robot vacuum cleaners out there it came down to two at first Roomba and Neato and I decided to get the Neato because it maps the room out and decides the best way to clean whereas the Roomba just bumps into things and at that point changes it direction and you have to hope it gets the whole area where you want done. I read that the Roomba has issues in regard to go and do multi rooms will with Gizmo #Neato Botvac 80# he has no problem at all as I was impressed when he did my upstairs I have three bedrooms and a bathroom #which is tile floor and I do not have him do that) that come off a long hallway. So I put his charging station in the middle bedroom and I watched him do that room first then the bedroom next to the bathroom then he does the long hallway and then go to the master bedroom and then returns to the middle bedroom where his charging station is. The job he did was great. When I have Gizom do downstairs his does a great job as well and I love the trail that he makes. I have him do the living room and dining room which I use for a den and kichen which I block off as my parrot does not like him and goes crazy so I do not let him do the kitchen which is okay as I never vacuumed it anyway as it is tile and I always swept it with a broom any way. He is able to go around my love seat and recliner as well as the sofa and gets under my end tables with no problems and when he is done he goes back to his charging station which I have a special place for. I tested Gizmo a few times downstairs by cutting up 30 small squares of paper and placed them in different areas and he got 29 out of 30 which is 96% and then I tried it again a few days later but just 10 pieces of paper and he got all 10 a perfect score. I also did 12 upstairs and I placed them in different spots and he got 11 out of 12. Overall Gizmo vacuums as good if not better then I can do with a regular upright. I have not used my upright since Gizmo's arrival. Cleaning the dust bin is easy as I do it just once a week on a Sunday and I also wipe him down with a damp cloth to keep him clean as he has a dirty job and I also clean the rollar brush to keep it nice and clean but usually that is not bad. I use him three times a week on Sunday he does upstairs and then Monday and Thursday at 10:00am he vacuums while I am i am in work and when I come home I can see he did his job and did it well as I can see his vacuum pattern on the rug and the rug looks really clean. To sum it up I would say that the Neato Botvac 80 is WELL worth the money as it does a great job and it gives you time to do other things. I read that people say they have to move pet toys or chairs or electric wires and even about cleaning the vacuum filter well think about it you have to do that with your regular vacuum cleaner! Wow! I love my always clean floors!

I purchased this a week ago at my local BB. I have loved it ever since. Since it has been so far a short ownership, I do not have any indication of long term relability. This thing does amazing work on my floors. I have a mix of hardwood, tile, and carpet. It gets them all. It is slower on the carpet, but no problem. It even gets under my couch. That thing was a pain to move come cleaning day, now I let the Botvac do that work. I have two dog large dogs that shed endlessly. This Botvac takes care of that problem (at least at floor level). It cleans close to the walls as well, and gives the corners a pretty close cleaning. And I do enjoy sitting back and just watching it work its way around. It gets every inch it can, and does it smartly. I am hoping that it holds up long term. One last note, the filter does get messy quick. I have been putting a cheap dryer sheet over the filter and it has greatly reduced the amount of hair and junk that gets down into the filter folds. Now I just quickly vacuum out the filter when it starts to get too dusty.

    Solid improvement over previous generations

I have had several versions of Roombas, a few earlier Neatos and an IClebo Arte. The Botvac 80 is by far my favorite. Neatos navigation is far superior to any other robot vac that I have tried and this newest generation is a solid improvement over previous generation Neatos. I really don't have to do much more than make sure there are no wires (or socks, dog toys, etc) lying about. It is excellent at cleaning under the bed and under furniture. It is able to go under my bathroom vanity without getting stuck on pipes, although it is a very tight space. It cleans under chairs without getting confused and I have never had to play "hunt for the vacuum robot" when I get home with this one. "Hunt for the vacuum" was pretty much a regular daily game for me with just about every other robot vac that I have ever owned. Like earlier Neatos, the botvac is extremely easy to keep clean. The brushes don't get filled up with junk like Roombas do. What is the point of having a robot vacuum if you have to spend 30 minutes cleaning the stupid thing's brushes? So far not a problem with the botvac. I'm really not crazy about the new version of filters, they are more expensive than the earlier design. So I am less likely to throw them away and get a new one. But they work and I will get a little brush to help clean them eventually. So far it's really not been a problem. I am really lazy about housework so I have the Botvac vacuum for me every day and the IClebo Arte go out afterwards. It vacuum and follows up with dry mopping. The IClebo's dust bin is almost always empty which tells me that the Botvac is doing a good job. And I really only need to wash the IClebo's microfiber cloth after about 5 or 6 trips. My floors are really quite clean. Now granted, it's not mud season. And the robots are running every day. But my house is way cleaner than even if I were to hire house cleaners. The robots are WAY better at cleaning under furniture. ps this is not an IClebo review, but I will note that occasionally (maybe 10% of the time) I DO have to play "hunt for the IClebo" when I get home. :P It is clever, but not as clever as the Botvac. Neato has done a good job with this one. Now if someone would just invent a dusting drone, I'd be all set. :)

    Great for Dark Floors

I have dark hardwood floors that show everything. I had to vacuum and mop daily for them to look good. The Neato is amazing and cleans everything for me so I don't have to. It fits under the bed, under tables, places I would never vacuum before. The first time we used it, it picked up so much dirt and pet hair. The next day, it picked up another good amount, it definitely does the job. The best part is it finds its way back to the charger to recharge. We left while the botvac cleaned, and when we came home, it was in its dock and our floors were spotless! The not so great part- it took probably an hour to vacuum the whole house where I could do it in 10 minutes, but it saves me from vacuuming daily!

Not bad for a small bot

Bought this from Best Buy about two weeks ago and I just begin to use it. Per other users' reviews online, I did discharge the battery once before my first usage in order to extend the battery life. Unlike the Roomba, it does make pretty vacuum marks and it takes less time to vacuum. The vacuum result by comparing it with the actual vacuum machine, I would say 7 out of 10. It does have a bit of hard time to pick up some dry leafs on the carpet, but overall, it still does pretty good job. While this botvac is doing its job, I was doing my laundry and fixing my friend's computer all at the same time, which it allows me to multitasking. I did quite a bit of research before I purchase this item, and I did purchase 2 boundary markers and some cable management clips from somewhere else to make my place botvac proof. However, this thing still got stuck under my recliners. Perhaps I will place another boundary marker around that area in the future. But after it returns to the charging station, it does not seem to be charging itself and I had to manually reposition it in order for it to recharge. I will probably relocate the charging station to a different location and see if that can solve the problem. But overall, I think this product is great. Hopefully this botvac will last more than 2 years.
