Customers are saying

Customers highly value the Gran Lattissima Espresso Machine by De'Longhi for its excellent coffee quality and ease of use. Many appreciate the machine's convenient features, such as the water reservoir and compact design. However, some customers noted that the machine can be a bit loud during operation, and the availability of Nespresso pods might be a limiting factor for some users. Overall, the positive feedback on the coffee quality and ease of use outweighs the concerns about noise and pod availability.

This is a very nice, fully automated Espresso/Coffee Machine with Milk Frother. The quality-built machine which is easy to set up and use. The packaging is clever (see Picture) and does well to protect the machine for shipping, it opens like a clamshell. It comes in a The Milk frother and steamer is easy to break down and clean by hand or dishwasher top rack. The overall unit is attractive and is set up for minimal space. Both the water reservoir and the milk container are easy to fill and remove. The suggestion is for skim milk, but the manual also says that one can use vegetable milk. Operation is easy with 8 different coffee-based beverages, an option for hot milk or foam. Preheat time is minimal, and you are ready to go in about 20 seconds for coffee and another 10-15 seconds for milk-based beverages. The touch panel lights light up according to what is available meaning if you don’t have the milk unit plugged in these selections do not light up. Cleaning is easy, there is a descaling process when the descaling alert show on the machine. Using purified/filtered water will, of course, extend the time for when this is needed. Cleanup after making your beverages is easy – pop the capsule into the temp storage bin which holds about 10. Rinse the coffee area with the ‘Lugo” button and if you used the milk container it is a quick turn of the nob on top of the container to clean and push the clean button. You can keep the remaining Milk (if any) in the container in the fridge and your top unit of the container has been steamed cleaned. The coffee pods are compact and professionally designed, well made and have good coffee products inside. One can tell these are well thought out convenient and quality made pods. The convince of the system to pop pods into the temp container and popping in a new pod is safe and wonderful, especially when making more than one beverage. The sample pods give you a wide selection to try different mixes. The machine is capable of being reprogramed to fit your own profile, but I found it works well for me with the factory settings. The only bad thing I have to say about this product is the manual. It is not well thought out. Some pages are a single language, some are stacked two different languages with different intensity of print and the fonts are selected to make it fancy not clear to read. This makes it hard to speed read, as the other language gets in the way of what you’re looking at. Just split the manual up into the different languages, and things can be accessed much better. And maybe not so bad a thing is the quality and ease of use ends up with me having a couple more beverages in a day!

The Nespresso De'Longhi Gran Lattissima is an automatic espresso machine with integrated milk frother, capable of producing coffee drinks that rival Starbucks with the ease of a single cup brewer. The attractive design features a small (18.8 D x 7.99 W x 10.87 H) footprint, rear water reservoir, detachable milk carafe, and a glass capacitive touch panel for easy operation. After unboxing and testing water quality, the Gran Lattissima is ready to produce quality espresso based drink in less than 25 seconds. Like all Nespresso machines, the Gran Lattissima uses capsules to produce high quality coffee extraction. Though the Nespresso capsules are slightly more per serving ($0.70) compared to some K-Cups, the quality is unmatched apart from much larger, noisier, and pricier espresso machines. I like the drop through design of the machine, meaning your capsules drop into an internal waste bin after use for a clean operation and easy waste removal. The bin holds approximately 10 capsules, allowing me to operate the machine all week without worrying about disposing or recycling (recyclable aluminum) used capsules. The rear mounted water reservoir however, barely makes it a week of pouring daily flat whites and running a purge shot with milk cleaning after each use. I would like to have seen just 8-10 oz more to accommodate daily drinks and cleaning without worrying about capacity, as well as a side mounted reservoir. The detachable milk carafe allows you to easily store it in the fridge, making it a breeze to connect when you are making a milk based drink. The carafe is also easy to clean by simply turning the knob and the Gran Lattissima rinses the milk system for you. For deep cleaning or storage, it easily disassembles with a turn the other direction. During operation, the Gran Lattissima is slightly louder than my retired Keurig but the quality of coffee it produces is no comparison. Thanks to the 19-bar pump and automatic operation, the machine makes the best coffee I have had from any home coffee machine, producing nice crema and smooth flavor. It really is surprising what this little machine can accomplish at the push of a button. If you are looking for a high quality coffee machine that can produce a large assortment of beverages (Lungo, Espresso, Ristretto, Macchiato, Latte, Flat White, Cappuccino, Hot Milk and Foam) that rivals your local coffee shop yet still fits under your counter, the Gran Lattissima is hard to beat!

    For the love of coffee

As a coffee lover this machine spoke to me and it is something that I absolutely had to get. I work overnights and often find myself sluggish and drowsy no matter how much I sleep or how well I eat. Working nights aren't that great but this machine helps and I'll explain why and what I love about it and what I don't like about it. So I'm sure most folk have used some sort of coffee brewer whether it be the traditional coffee pot makers, the popular Keurig, or the nespresso like this. Each has their pros and cons but having tried them all this Nespresso machine has more options for those who want a little variety. :::Initial Impressions::: Upon opening the box you'll find all the usual stuff the machine itself the water reservoir and milk frother reservoir. You also will find a sample pack of coffees the majority caffeinated and about four or so decaffeinated. I like the fact that for a machine that costs as much as this full sized coffee samples are included to get you started. Good job Nespresso that is a plus in my book. You'll find nine buttons on the top of the machine for three types of coffee varying in concentration. You have ristretto, espresso, and lingo. And to the right of those you have the milk options. This can be a bit much for those who are used to the K cup machines where you place the pod and and creamer and done. You have more options using this espresso machine. There is a bit of a learning curve here if you want to try different kinds of cups of coffee but it's worth it in the end. A little bit of research is great to get the most out of this machine. :::Pros & Cons::: Pros: - Nearly effortless to make a cup of fancy Joe. - Variety of types of coffee can be made - Milk frother included to make the perfect latte - Large water reservoir - Samples included :::Cons::: - Nespresso pods aren't as easy to find locally as the K- Cups :::General thoughts::: Honestly this is my first espresso machine and in fact I'm loving it. I own the traditional coffee pot maker with the annoying filters, I also own a Kuerig machine. And now I have this espresso machine which is easy to use once you read up on it a little it isn't quite as simple as the other two at first because of the options you have. Learning to use the machine doesn't require much effort. You can learn about the various cups of coffee by doing a quick google search. You have the ristretto which is the smallest cup which is the most concentrated, followed by the espresso and lastly the lungo which is slightly more water in it. Please be sure to visit the nespresso website for a detailed description on how to perform maintenance on this machine. Yes it is a bit annoying having to perform maintenance on a coffee machine but that's a small price I'm willing to pay for convenience. I suggest you do not skip maintenance on this machine to get the best brew of coffee and to prolong the longevity of the machine. A small descaling strip is included to test the machine for mineral deposits. This is no different from the Keurig which also needs to be descaled as well. The only difference is the way it is performed on the machine. That being said yes it may seem like a whole lot to learn but it really isn't and a minimum of twice a year and you should be just fine. So now that most of the important stuff is out of the way I just wanted to elaborate on the availability of the nespresso pods in retail stores. I took a trip to Best Buy, and a few other retail stores and couldn't find pods in the store. That was a bit annoying which is why I took off a star because you can literally find K cups in almost any store. Don't get me wrong nespresso pods can be found but in very few select stores like their boutiques as they call them which you can find in Manhattan at Macy's and Bloomingdale's and a few other spots. I believe the reason for this is because Nespresso likes to consider itself an upscale brand. I don't find anything wrong with that but I would like to be able to find pods locally for example at Target but I am not so sure that will happen anytime soon. Ultimately i ended up ordering online and it was an easy I went with an introductory offer Nespresso was offering a free gift for those who ordered 100 pods. Nespresso included a really nice set of espresso cups and saucers and potato peeler made from recycled pods because they are made of aluminum. A pack of pods of Zimbabwe coffee was included. And Nespresso takes recycling very serious a bag was included and it's prepaid. You drop the pods in the bag, seal it and then drop it off at an UPS store for it to be mailed back for recycling. I find that to be awesome. TL;DR This nespresso machine by Delonghi gives you options and that's awesome coffee with or without milk or cream that's your choice. I don't make a trip to Starbucks or Dunkin anymore. This is what coffee connoisseurs should be looking to get, or one you should consider as an gift for the coffee connoisseur in your life the holidays are right around the corner. This is also great for those who want a better at home coffee experience. For those complaining about the drip at the end of each cup being brewed be a little patient give the machine a few seconds, eject the pod and it won't be an issue.

First I love my coffee black and strong and I always drink double Espresso's. I have my own Burr Grinder Espresso Machine and used to grinding my own fresh dark roast beans. The Nespresso Grand Lattisima takes some getting used to recipes and button selection and volume settings after that it is very fast and simple to use. The Espresso brew is not as good as a Espresso Machine but pretty close and not bad. The maximum brew on any selection is only 7-8 ounces I'm used to full size 12-16 ounce cups when I make Latte's or Cappuccino's. The capsules you can only buy online and are very expensive from Nespresso direct but you can find other brands which I have tried and are just as good for one third the price. What's great is the machine takes up very little space the hot milk and frother is very quick foam and brew excellent. The machine is very easy and simple to clean. But for full size Espresso, Latte or Cappuccino and coffee shop flavor I will stick with my Espresso Machine which takes a lot more time but the end brew is much better. My conclusion the Nespresso Grand Lattissima is very expensive and I will only use on occasion I guess it depends on your needs. If you use your own coffee with the stainless steel reusable pods they will not achieve good flavor no matter if you tamper press or don't tamper.

    Great milk based espresso drinks

An amazing coffee maker with a few quirks. I have enjoyed using this device, but it resulted in me making a few changes to my coffee routine (good and bad). The quality of the drinks is great, but I had a few concerns about hardware quality. Here is my detailed review. Unboxing: The packaging is great with a premium unboxing experience. Inside you will find the machine, the milk assembly (multiple parts), an extra tray (for espresso shot glasses), a few manuals with various guides, and a drink variety pack sample. Set up: I highly recommend you read the instructions prior to set up. The device says it requires a cleaning for the first few uses. You should also review how to assemble and disassemble the milk unit. In addition, there are cleaning instructions which should probably be done after each use for milk-based drinks. After setting up I tried to make my first drink, a latte macchiato. It worked flawlessly adding a generous amount of foam. I made the wife a caffe latte and was very impressed by its ability to switch between milk foam and steamed milk. It is highly suggested in the instructions to use skim milk to get the highest quality, I was using whole milk in the beginning and the milk output was never consistent as a result. General use: One thing you might expect or be surprised by, is that your drinks are going to be smaller than usual. The max drink size it makes is about 8oz so not Starbucks sized drinks here unless you use multiple pods. Cappuccino’s and flat whites will be at around 4.6 oz. There are a few settings you can mess with to get some slightly longer shots of espresso and milk, but it is only by about an extra oz or so if you program it for a longer shot. Drinks are highly consistent, but you will need to figure out which pods you prefer. I became a fan of lungo pods (Starbucks sells lungo for this) due to the larger shot. The manual recommends which pods types go best for which drink. For example, a cappuccino recommends a ristretto or espresso, a caffe latte recommends a lungo and so on. In trying to replace my drip coffee maker with this I found you can pour a shot of lungo, empty the pod and do a shot of water with the lungo button to make a pretty good americano. Cons: My main gripe is some concerns about hardware quality and how long parts might last. Overall, the build is solid in most parts. The water tank felt like they saved a few bucks in the plastic quality as I have seen better water containers on cheaper units from competitors. My main concern here was with the milk container. In order to thoroughly clean it, you must disassemble it to ensure the milk is cleaned out and does not dry out. It consists of about five pieces. The piece that attaches to the actual spout that allows you to aim the milk had some issues with poor quality plastic after a few install/removals for cleaning. I took a picture and attached it to the review. It still attaches fine to the unit, but it looks a little rough. Hopefully this is just an isolated incident, but it did have me a little concerned that it might get worse with time as it feels a little too easy to pop it off the unit when I take it off for cleaning. Next, the milk assembly seems to require you ensure every piece has a firm fit. The tubes that lead into the milk do not always stay 100% in place. This is annotated in the instructions, but it feels to me that they slip out too easily. Most of the time it is not issue but if the slip out of their spot just the tiniest bit, it does not seem to pour milk effectively, similar to drinking out of a straw with a hole it, it will work but it also sucks in a little air making it less effective. Summary: If the milk container issues were not present, I would not be able to fault anything on this unit other than the wish it could make a 12oz cup of coffee, but that is just a preference (there are other units in the lineup for that). As a pure espresso maker, I would give it 5 stars. But as a machine meant to make milk-based espresso drinks, I give it more of a 3.5 stars rounded up for the review system.

The Nespresso DēLonghi Gran Lattissima is a whole new coffee experience! I got this unit at no cost for an honest review and, being a coffee/espresso aficionado, I was not disappointed! I am in no way associated with Nespresso. I used it for a little over a week. Why do I like it? - It has multiple coffee/espresso settings for more customization The nine brewing options are: Lungo Hot foam Hot milk Espresso Latte macchiato Caffè latte Ristretto Cappuccino Flat white - The milk frother is self-cleaning feature (to a certain extent) via a "clean" knob setting. What this does is run got water through the frother tubes do that the milk doesn't crust there. I do this every time to keep it clean. Make sure you put a cup below the frother spout when selecting the setting so you don't make a mess. - The frother is easy to disassemble to clean, and it's dishwasher safe. - If you happen to fill the frother with milk and have some left over after making your espresso, you can store the frother in the fridge, though Nespresso recommends no longer than 2 days. This was handy so that I didn't have to pour the milk back in the jug or throw it out. BONUS* The pods are recyclable, and Nespresso sends you a pre-paid labeled recycling bag which you can fill and drop off at any UPS location - When you send your recycled pods in, they will surprise you with a small gift made from recycled aluminum. - Nespresso will send you a welcome gift with an order of 100 pods or more, and their pods are very reasonably priced. The gifts were 2 espresso cups with 2 metal saucers, 10 espresso pods, and a recycled product (mine was a peeler). - As far as pod prices, they range from under a dollar a piece to a little over 2 dollars a piece, depending on what you order. However, the more you order the more you save, and my variety of pods ended up around 70 cents/pod. Also, Nespresso will send you coupons and discounts/offers to make it more enticing. - How about the coffee? Well, the pod selection is very wide, so there are pods for every taste. *You may not really taste the full coffee flavor if you add flavored creamer, but that's just a side note. - I ordered the pods directly from Nespresso via their app. 2 orders arrived in 2 and 3 days, so I was pleased with their quick delivery. (They delivered in a white van so maybe they should their own logistics, but I'm also in California so your delivery times may vary). - Once you set up your Nespresso account on the app, reordering is super easy. I highly recommend this machine. It's the best one I've ever owned and I see myself using it for a very long time.

We have been big Nespresso fans for many years and this is our second machine (we used to have a De'longhi that was great!). However, after many pods and faithful service of the old machine, we upgraded to this but it has been a horror show when trying to use the milk frother. After a couple of milk-based coffees (and we clean it religiously after every use), hot milk or froth just won't come out. What comes out is some white-colored water. We already returned our first machine (a different frother problem they knew of and didn't complain about replacing) and got a replacement. However, problems persist. This has been a waste of money and I would highly recommend you AVOID this if you need to make milk-based drinks. Why is this not a one-star review? Because there is no problem whatsoever with pure espresso drinks.

The Nespresso De’Longhi Gran Lattissima Coffee maker has really improved the quality of my coffee drinking experience. I love the compact Barista machine design and its ability to work quickly while providing optimum results. This machine is very easy to keep clean which surprised me due to the fact that it can steam and froth milk. Its sleek design looks great in the kitchen and would be perfect for a coffee bar also. The unboxing was very easy and the setup was just as much of a breeze. This machine has a water reservoir that holds 33.8 fl oz, at max fill, and calls for filtered water, which I assume will increase the flavor quality of your espresso and reduce mineral build up in the machine. The reservoir easily lifts off the base for refilling and cleaning. The milk reservoir holds 16.9 fl oz and calls for skim milk to provide optimal results. You can keep milk in the reservoir for up to a week as long as it is removed from the machine and stored in the refrigerator. The milk container is simple to disassemble and dishwasher safe. You are given a choice of 8 different coffee based beverages, an option for hot milk and an option for hot foam. No beverage seems to take longer than about 25 seconds to make which I love because most of the non-traditional coffee makers out there require a long preheat time. After making a milk based beverage you simply remove your cup, place an empty cup below the milk steaming spout and turn the dial to the clean icon; after about 10-15 seconds it has been sanitized and ready to be placed back into the fridge. The Nespresso pods are a great compact size and easily drop into the lift-top chamber. After your beverage has been made simply raise the Nespresso pod lid and the used pod will drop down into a removable waste pod receptacle. The removable used pod receptacle holds about 10 pods which has me emptying it about once a week. I greatly appreciate this design because it doesn’t force you to remove a hot pod with your hands if you want to make two drinks back-to-back. With most new beverage making appliances I expect for the first few drinks to taste a little like plastic or metal but not this machine. The first drink I tried was a flat white and it was perfect! The roast of the coffee was bold without being burnt or overly acidic, the milk was smooth without being too hot and the option of frothed foam topped it off to create an exquisite drink. I highly recommend this product to anyone wanting something close to having your very own Barista in your kitchen.

I love coffee, and I love espresso, so I was pretty excited to receive this product. The Keurig of Espresso. The good: - It is incredibly fast to make espresso, like stupid fast from the time you turn it on. Within 30 seconds of turning it on you can have a nice cup of espresso ready for you. - It tastes good! The quality of the espresso is fantastic, and you can even fine tune this machine depending on how hard or soft your water is etc. I haven't gotten to this point yet of fine tuning it, but plan to. - In theory, it is easy to use. I will go more into detail as to why I have some gripes with it. - Easy to clean. Everything that you need to clean comes apart easy and is easy to wipe off and clean. The bad: - I don't know if it is user error, or if I have a bad unit, but I can not for the life of me get it to make me cappuccinos or any of the milk based drinks accurately without it complaining I need to clean it every time! I filled the milk to the top, secured the milk container, put my cup and a pod and it only spits out hot milk and a little espresso but never froths it. I tried reading the manual, but it is a little convoluted. - No easy quick start guide included. You have to read the manual with this product, I wish it came with a little quick start guide on how to make the most out of your machine, but instead it is in a manual that is hard to read and follow. - Hard to find nespresso pods. Even Costco doesn't carry them! They have other brands but those are not guaranteed to work. So you can find yourself spending a fair amount of money on trying to keep up with this machine. I will probably need to mux around more with the machine to get the most out of it and see if I am doing something wrong with the milk frother. I've used other espresso machines before and never had an issue with making milk based drinks. If I do have issues, I will contact the manufacturer, but it may just be me not doing everything correctly (which goes into user friendliness)
