Great Nest Hub that doesn't have a camera

My first foray into Smart Home products and this Nest Hub is pretty good. Although the Nest Hub Max has a bigger screen (10") and has other features, I didn't want a Hub with a camera. This is a step up from the Nest Mini speaker (only) and not as intrusive as the Nest Hub Max. Easy to setup with the Google Home app on my 5Ghz Wifi and the sound is loud and clear. I use it mainly for the weather/news/youtube. My kids use it for answering questions that I (thank goodness) don't have to answer. Mostly spelling and nature facts. I do wish the screen was bigger but at this price point I can't complain. Audio quality is decent but to get some bass, you might want a beefier Bluetooth speaker, which you can set as the default speaker for this Hub. Great purchase and just the beginning of my Smart Home journey. It's been a good start with this Nest Hub.

What Apple should be in the smart home

The evolution of the smart home has come a long way; it’s cheap and really easy for anyone. This product is no exception. Beautifully designed, packaged, shipped and intergrated into the smart home experience. If you have a google account the set up will take less than five minutes. You might have to set up a few things, but the app makes it very enjoyable. After setting everything up, the hub explains exactly how to use it visually and audibly. It just works. The assistant understands you; this is a very different experience compared to Alexa or Siri. It’s a nice addition to our home. It works with our lighting, cameras and syncing with YouTube, Netflix and other commonly used apps. Ask for directions, weather, recipes or anything! It quickly will help with just about any tasks you need.

    Beautiful smart display!

The perfect smart display for your home! At first, I was not sure if the 7" screen was going to be big enough and was interested in bumping up to the Nest Hub Max with its 10" screen. I am glad I did not. This screen is more than large enough for use in our kitchen as a display for recipes, a smart home controller, and a Netflix display. Set up is quick and easy. It integrates seamlessly into the Home app on your phone or tablet. The display can be used as a digital photo frame and usually displays whichever albums we choose from our photos. It also works well as a smart home controller when we need to adjust the temperature on the thermostat or keep an eye on our baby through the baby cam. And for the occasional Netflix viewing, it works well as a device that you can watch Netflix on while you're working nearby. For anyone with Nest or Google devices, this is a must have device for its many uses. It's also great for anyone with smart home devices that are compatible with Google Assistant or the Google Home app.

This is a great small sized smart display. It is a nice display if you want don't want to have a connected camera. . It's great for playing news, sports, music, radio, etc. It's plenty loud for my purposes. Since this does not have a camera, it's great for private rooms like the bedroom.

I love electronics. They fascinate me. I have been using smart Alexa speakers but was very intrigued by the google home hub so I wanted to try it. I use it on my night stand right now and love it for being my alarm clock. There is no camera so it doesn’t have video chat features like its Alexa competitor but that was not a minus for me. No matter how secure, video cameras in the bedroom create privacy concerns for me. It’s very simple to set up. I works great with all my smart lights. I use it with Wemo smart switches, tp link smart switches, c by ge lights and LIFX lights. Google definitely works better with my lights then Alex did. One of my favorite features is seeing my nest cameras at my beside with the simple command of Hey Google show me the drive way. The only thing I say so far that google speakers are worse at then amazon is music. I find amazon speakers a little more intuitive there. That is using google play music vs amazon music. I’m going to try Spotify and see if that helps. I would definitely recommend this product. I’ve been using it for 3 weeks. I’ve been using Alex for years so that should say something.

I was avoiding the whole smart home setup because I wasn't familiar with how it works and I wasn't ready to learn how to use the new devices. However, I saw the Google Need Nest Hub being used at relative's home and saw how easy and convenient it is to use. I am already familiar with using Google Assistant on my phone and this is the same exact thing. The setup couldn't be easier, just connect Wi-Fi and your Google account, DONE! I have it in the in the kitchen and I can ask for recipes, the weather, play my music or news while I cook, etc. It even answers questions like liquid conversions, trivia, and tells jokes. It has games and lots of other thingsI haven't discovered yet. Even better, I already had a smart TV and I can tell Google to turn it on/off or change the channel. I'm very happy with the Nest Hub and ready to expand by purchasing some Nest Minis for other rooms.

I bought this so my parents could listen to music, see some pictures of their grandkids, and settle arguments about who is right. I was surprised that they also use it for recipes and watching youtube videos. This is a great device, that is easy to use (after I set it up for them).

I absolutely love my Google Home Hub! I cook a lot, and was so tired of relying on a phone screen, iPad screen or even a computer screen for recipes--eventually the screen goes dark and you have to fool with the device to bring the screen back, which is not the easiest while cooking. With the Home Hub, the screen stays lit and you can give it verbal commands to move onto the next recipe item or to the next step in cooking. Once you have prepped the meal, you can then have it set a timer. And once the meal is cooked, you can then ask it to play mood music. Aside from kitchen use, it is incredibly helpful with my calendar and the weather. And I love that you can be viewing something on your phone, and have it sent to the Home Hub for better/easier viewing. In sleep mode, it pulls photos from my Google drive, so it also operates as a digital photo frame. While I haven't used it with my security system or a chromecast yet, I am hopeful that it will work perfectly!

Great device to work with google home devices

Love this device. Works with my google home system. I have three of these installed in the house. Works with my nest doorbell and announces who is at the door if facial recognition is setup. This also works with my Arlo camera’s so I can see who is downstairs without having to go downstairs. I also have semi smart plugs to turn on or off devices from the display. I also have C by GE smart lights and Mercury smart lights as well as LED strips that also you can turn on from the display. The best part is you can use your voice and talk to the display to turn your devices on or off. You can play music and YouTube videos. You can cast from your phone or computer to the display. It’s missing a front camera. The larger more expensive unto has a built in camera and sounds louder.

Nice Addition to Google Home Assistant Products

The Google Home Hub is a cool addition to the Google Home Assistant product line. Overall, I like the product and find it very useful. I use if mostly in my kitchen for recipes when cooking. For that, it has a nice feature of reading the ingredients and instructions off to you as you're ready for them--which is nice when your hands are otherwise occupied or dirty. It connects seamlessly with the other Google products (ie It will play my Netflix shows on my living room TV with a voice command). The speaker is decent enough for playing music and the screen display is great for pictures (which it will pull from your Google Photos). It is very easy to set up. I think my only complaint with this product is that there is no keyboard function. I think I thought that it would function like my Nook, but it doesn't. Everything has to be done via voice command or casted from your phone. You absolutely can not type anything by touching the screen (which is why I gave it 4/5 stars). Other than that 1 thing, I have no complaints and definitely like the product.

If you thought the Google home was awesome!

If you thought the Google home was awesome wait till you get this HUB, it does everything the google home does, but now has a screen so you can see what's going on. Need a video on how to do brake pads, or a video on how to cook French Toast? ask the HUB and it will bring it up. So basically this is a google home with a screen, but it can do a lot more such as being a visual alarm clock or cooking timer, it can be used to display photos personal or otherwise like a digital picture frame. The only negatives are the speaker is not as good as the google homes and there is no camera to do video chatting. But for the price and what it can do, it is really worth having if you have a house with any google home products in it.

From taking it out of the box it only got better. Setting it up was easy and the screen I thought was beautiful. When I tried doing a google duo call to it It followed me around and had a good range. You can use the camera as a security camera. It would be a good device to watch loved ones and to do duo calls. I thought it would be nice to have an auto-answer. This would be good for children or grandparents or parents. The screen resolution is awesome. I've watched many youtube videos and found that you can do Netflix and sling tv. I am truly impressed with it and it is one of the best investments. I wish the smaller home hubs would have a camera. The only drawback is I wish it had a physical switch for the camera. I like the fact it makes home automation easy. I like that all lights and devices are at your fingertips.

Love! Love! Love! I have one of these in my bedroom and the Nest Hub Max in my living room. I tried using the Google Home Mini in my bedroom but it's just not the same being able to visually see your smart home at a glance as well as the Nest Hello doorbell when someone pushes the button. This is the second one I have bought and am gifting it to a friend who just bought a new house. This 7" screen is the perfect size for a night stand or a dresser and doesn't have a camera so doesn't make someone feel weird that you have this screen facing your bed haha. Definitely would recommend this to anyone starting out with a smart home and connecting several devices. Makes it easy to view everything at a glance and adjust settings easily.

I purchased the "Google - Nest Hub with Google Assistant - Chalk" for my kitchen. It was on sale for $79.99 so I took advantage of the savings. I wanted to have the 7" screen to view recipes without looking them up on my computer. The screen is also great for viewing directions to a destination, instead of getting out a map or gps. I also play music on it and ask Google a lot of questions. It gives me up to date news and weather. I also use it for a timer when baking. It does not have a camera so I can't make video calls, but I didn't care about that. It does what I need it to do. It was very easy to set up. I just plugged it in to the wall outlet and the Google Home app on my Samsung cellphone recognized the device. I completed the setup on my cellphone. I am very pleased with my purchase.

Hands down the best Smart Hub Google has released to date. It goes above and beyond what its claimed to do at the minimum. I find myself using it more and more each day. It syncs and communicates with all the other smart devices in my home, such as lights, door lock, thermostat and so on with EASE. I highly recommend that you pick one of these bad boys up. Bonus!!! They've got a promotion going right now that If you buy one of these, they throw in a FREE Google Home Mini as well. I couldn't walk away from that deal, could you? But don't take it from a weirdo on the internet, head into the store and check them out with your own eyes, ears and (Credit Card) LOL. I included a photo of the Hub on my night stand casting some white noise and thunderstorm recordings to all the speakers in my room simultaneously. Surround sound SON.

I was getting frustrated with my Amazon Show 8" being wonky with bluetooth connections and displaying almost entirely useless things to me (basically trying to sell me on things) like recipes for pork chops (I've been a vegetarian my entire life) and music I have no interest in. I am very happy with this the Google Nest Hub- the screens it shows me are useful, it does not have an invasive camera and it works very well. I love being able to set me favorite images from google photos as my screen saver. Only complaint is when you trigger it, all devices in earshot hear "hey google" and sometimes the wrong one triggers. I assume they will get better with that/

I have been using this product for a few months now and I must say I am truly impressed with it. I keep it in my living room where I spend like 80 percent of my time at home. I use this device every single day. With that being said to truly get the full experience with this device you should have other google smart home assistant or nest products to compliment this. I use this device to sync with my nest IQ camera which I use as a baby monitor to watch the baby while she naps. I also use this product with my nest hello doorbell to see whose at my front door. I also use this to play music or to stream YouTube videos. Works without a hitch every time. Makes everyday task easier and quicker. Every home should have one.
