has a familiar appearance, easy to install, the ability to monitor and control the heat and A/C in the house remotely is a great advantage. compatible with most systems, and seemless integration with other zones that have the nest. no separate battery to support works off existing power supply which is a big plus compared to other wi fi thermostats.

I hesitated to purchase and due to the price but after I purchased it, the first month I noticed that my electric bill was reduced by $20 if this continues over the next several months the unit would have paid for itself in about a year. I highly recommend homeowners consider purchasing Nest thermometer. It has several great features it learns very quickly, it was easy to install and the monthly energy reports are excellent and best of all if you forget you can adjusted on yourself phone

After setting up this thermostat (which is pretty easy on it's own), it's super simple to use. The large dial is the perfect way to set temperature. This is far superior to a few small buttons, in my opinion. The display tells you exactly what you need to know, like what temperature the thermostat is set to, whether it's currently heating or cooling, and what temperature it actually is. There's a sensor to detect movement, so it will go into auto away mode if you aren't around, which is a super easy way to save money when you're not there anyway. The app is also pretty awesome. I love being able to know what it's like at home when I'm not there and to be able to set the temperature remotely if I'm about to head home. In short, if you can afford it, buy it.

Had to replace our old thermostat so figured I'd give this a try after reading reviews. It was very easy to install, and so far has worked flawlessly for the past 2 months. Never bothered to program the old thermostat very well so the Nest is saving a bit of money on each heating bill, so should pay for itself eventually. Best part is, my wife can adjust it from bed using the app instead of waking me up to go do it!

We purchased the nest for the learning capabilities. It quickly learned when we are awake, get home from work and that we lower the heat before we go to bed. It is very easily to change the temp. settings in home, from our phones or even while at work. It has saved around $100 so far and we have had it 4 months! The only con is that as we are getting closer to spring and summer, it will have to re-learn our schedule for the a/c.

This device was a breeze to install and configure with online tutorials and a well-written instruction book. It also includes several mounting options and even the screwdriver needed. I've had it installed for about three months in our new house. It programs itself and after a couple weeks it learns your routine and you really don't think about it anymore. If placed in a common area, it can even turn turn off ac/heat when you are not at home. This feature works well and was one of the selling points for me. I did a lot of research and this was easily the best choice for a wi-fi connected thermostat.

I've had this for a month now and I LOVE it! No problems, I was able to install it myself...which only says that anyone can do it. Once installed, it takes you through the setup in the app itself. Equally easy. Then you are ready to start using and controlling it from your phone. Within a week it will learn your habits, but you can change what you don't like about your habits easily. One thing that worried me that I found out was completely normal was that your energy history takes about 48 hours to show up. Then, you will get details about when and how long your thermostat turned on and whether you earned a leaf for the day (conserved energy more than your weekly average). I have become obsessed with earning leaves because...I save money! I've actually become less of a freeze-baby because of this device and I love it. I had a few questions and an issue (with another Nest device) and I can tell you that the customer service is top-notch. They back up their product and they will stick with you until it is solved. Because of this, and because all of their products are dependable, I have everything they have made. Can't wait for more products from Nest. I highly recommend!

Easy to install (save $100 and do it yourself) Easy to set up. Using the iphone app or nest website to turn this off and on. AC, fan, heater; it does it all. You can set up a timer, let it learn your schedule or just manually do it all. I have this paired with 2 dropcams/nest cams and its awesome to be able to monitor both the area and climate. Very useful for keeping a napping baby and a old dog comfy.

I have used these in an office setting before and loved them. Finally got one for the house. I did the install myself and it took ten minutes tops (though I've done a few before, so take with a grain of salt). Works great, and the option to edit from my phone while I'm on the go is fantastic. Is it pricey? You bet your butt. Will I make up for the price in energy savings over the next decade? Ohhhh, yes!

I love this thermostat! Everything about it is easy to use. I also had to call their customer support, and I have to say...they are fantastic! The product was beautifully packaged and installation instructions were spot on. I love how the thermostat learns how I set my temperature through the day and then it just happens automatically. The schedule can also be altered to suit your needs. Again...love it.

I love my Nest thermostat. It is so simple to install and they provide great guides to help those that may be challenged. HOWEVER you should beware if you do not have a common wire which is also called a c-wire. This is something that Nest Says is not required but I found out it is a must and after doing some research this is a very common problem with this thermostat or any of the smart thermostats these days. If your current thermostat uses batteries you probably either don't have a common wire or it is not connected. With the Nest it is very important to have this wire because it is the wire that provides constant power to the device. Without the wire, the Nest tries to charge its batteries by stealing the electricity from your condenser and as a result you get very loud noises in your AC system. They were so loud in mine I thought my AC was on its final legs and I had to buy a new one. After doing the research I found out it was caused by the missing common wire. I had my AC guy come in and run a new wire that had a common wire included and after an hour and $100 later the Nest was working perfectly fine. Now I just hope I save enough on my electric bill to make back that extra $100 I spent on this. The device itself is very well thought out and works great. After a few days it already had our patterns down and I don't even need to change the temp anymore because it learned it all. Very cool!!

Very easy to use, and oddly fun to mess with. I live for the times when I can kick the temperature up/down just enough to get the little energy-saving green leaf symbol. With the warm weather starting up again, I'll be interested to see just how well it learns my habits like it did during the winter!

This device was easy to install and get connected via the phone app - it is simple to use, and has already helped reduce my energy usage. It learns when you are home or away, and shows you trending of your daily energy usage, vs that of others in your area. Along with IFTT you can easily connect this device to other NON nest devices for easy home automation - as well as the fact that a huge list of devices and brands are designed to work directly with NEST - the 250 dollar number is a bit steep to justify at first, but given its ease of use, ability to function with other devices, and ability to reduce your energy output - you can generally find a cost savings enough reason to make it worth while. Some of complained about its accuracy - I have used an infra red thermometer several times this spring as the temp has varied from 30 to 90 degrees outside in the last 2 months, and the reading on the NEST has always matched the reading on the output of my thermometer.

I bought this thermostat to go with a new unit that I had installed. After researching several different thermostats, I decided to go with the Nest 2nd generation. Out of the box I had to call customer service because the wire configuration for my unit was not recognized by taking a picture of the wiring like the instructions state. The hold time for customer service was around 20 minutes which was long but not unbearable. Once the agent came to the phone he was very courteous and went above and beyond to ensure that I would get the thermostat working that night. Not only was he knowledgeable, but I felt as if I was a valued customer and not just a number in queue. Once that was done I knew that I made the right decision by going with the Nest. The thermostat works well once installed and it is certainly convenient to be able to change the temperature from your smartphone using the Nest app. The learning mode takes a little over a week to get used to your schedule but is pretty accurate thereafter. The app has some useful functions especially the energy history report that allows you to see how much the unit runs for the past week. If you are in the market for a smart thermostat... Look no further!!

I purchase this thermostat after recommendation from a friend. The installation was easy and works well with my heat pump. It only took a few days for it to learn my schedule. It has learned the temperature that I prefer when I get home and when I'm away.

This was super easy to install. We purchased an older home and weren't sure if it was going to compatible with the current heating and cooling system. We were happy to see it would work, it took less than an hour to install and program. I love that I can control it from anywhere and that it gives tips on saving on energy!

Thrilled with the Nest. Very easy to install, and to control remotely. I would like if it pulled more local weather info, but this is a secondary feature to me. I'd like more reporting to give me more options, although it does provide some basic information. The device looks sleek and unobtrusive, just a twist of the dial adjust temperature, and it gives some nice control features. Have had a couple times where it seems less responsive to my Vera controller, but still early and working through it. Industry reviews were very positive about it, highlighting the Nest lead for the last couple years, and lamenting the lack of updates during that time but saying it still remained a top choice. I would agree. All in all I love it, would buy another one, and think my father is going to transition from Honeywell with Wi-Fi to the Nest.

I'm not an electrician, but I was able to remove our old thermostat and hook this one up without much difficulty. The only problem is a c-wire. It is needed to provide enough continuous power to the Nest Thermostat so that it can remain connected to the wireless internet, and therefore connected to the app on my phone, and allow me to monitor and control the temperature when I am not at home. I have kids who LOVE to have the house nice and chilly, but I HATE electric bills that rival the national debt! The c-wire isn't always wired from the air handler, so you might need an electrician or an AC repairman to come to your house and wire it there. Wish I would have known that when I purchased it, and I might have looked for a Nest option to have a thermostat with a battery instead. Oh well, you live and you learn. I'm not taking it back for that. Easily fixed with the wiring of the the c-wire. Still love the thermostat. I can program it from my phone or the thermostat itself. I can even lock my kids out of the thermostat so they can't change it! I'll keep them cool when it's hot out, but I'm not letting them put me into foreclosure!

I had a programmable thermostat that went berserk, so I needed a replacement. My brother suggested that I check into the Nest. It costs quite a bit more than most programmable thermostats, but this one is supposed to "learn" your preferences and program itself. The old one was programmed by the installer and we never had a lot of luck trying to reprogram it ourselves, so that sounded like a good feature. My brother and I installed the thermostat. He looked online and it suggested getting schematics to match your setup. When my wiring information was entered, it said to call customer support. That was a lousy experience. The guy was extremely rude and didn't seem too informed. We ended up pretty much figuring it out for ourselves although he did help us figure out what to do with a couple of wires with no obvious destination on the Nest wiring platform. The setup was easy enough and it seems to be learning our routine. Our schedule is pretty strange since my husband works rotating days and nights. I have adjusted it manually a few times both on the device and from my phone. It is great being able to adjust it while I am still in bed, using my smart phone. The device itself is probably worth 5 stars, but Nest customer service was bad enough to lose it a star. I wouldn't call them unless you absolutely have to.

This was my first Nest purchase and I have to say that I love it and the rest of the family of devices they manufacture. From the start of opening the package you can see this is a quality company, it reminded me of opening any Apple device for the first time. The instructions are excellent which made the installation very easy. The addition of the device to the app is simple and I love the fact that I can monitor my HVAC from anywhere. As I have a dual zone system I have since purchased a second device and have also started to add the Protect smoke alarms to the house. Nest devices are a little expensive but can be added over time and are a great option for the automated home.
