Instructions for replacing and existing thermostat device are clear and company provides an 800# or email support to address special circumstances. Make sure to turn off power in home to avoid blowing out a small fuse in home. I had to replace fuse in my home , cost only about $2 but was a hassle having to stop install to go to store to purchase. Other than this the install and connections to wifi was a cinch. Love using this new thermostat as I can turn on and set the temperature from my iPhone before arriving home. Also makes it very easy to set the proper setting. I highly recommend. Wish I would have purchased sooner, before summer instead of in the middle of August.

I liked my first so much, I bought a second for the upstairs thermostat. It appears to be very intuitive how it runs my A/C and I find it helpful to examine how long my A/Cs run during the day. Additionally, it's nice to be at work and be able to adjust if needed. The Nest has been pretty good at learning my behavior, so very little input has been required from me. They are expensive, and I'd never figure I would ever spend a total of $500 on thermostats but I truly believe iI'll make it up fairly quickly in energy savings. I've bought 2, so I think that means I'd highly recommend.

So far love this thermostat. Easy to install and set up. I can check on the house while away. Only took a few days to learn when we are home and not home. Using the app is great and makes it easy to adjust thermostat from anywhere.

We have a reasonably large house with separate HVAC for upstairs and downstairs. We already had a Nest thermostat downstairs and added this for the second floor. Obviously we like the units or we wouldn't have bought another, in this case I keep my guitars upstairs and having a controllable and monitorable environment for temperature and humidity is important (ok, it keeps our guests comfortable too). It's very convenient to control the temperature from anywhere. We have one in the master bedroom and the proximity sensor also makes a nice nightlight should you get up. They also integrate into my Harmony Ultimate Home Remote Control, the temp can be monitored and adjusted from there as well. We've had one for several years and it's been very reliable, they're also easy to install and setup.

This thermostat is simple to use. It took only ~15 minutes to install and on Nest website you tell them what wires you have and it shows you where the wire will be installed on your Nest. I love being able to change the temperature thru my phone app. Nest does a great job of showing you how much you use your heating/cooling system and what would help you reduce usage. Also, the auto away feature helps you use less without having to think about it.

Simple installation (I have never seen such a simple and customer-focused instruction manual and installation aid before: stickers, implanted level, failure prove wiring instructions), automatic learning of our heating/cooling preferences, automatic saving when away, remote controlling and reporting via smart phone, great energy reports, makes me more conscious about heating/cooling consumption. Easy and intuitive to use. Highly recommend it.

Love this thermostat! Very easy to install and access via mobile app. The thermostat learns your heating and cooling schedule rather quickly and adjusts accordingly. I loved this so much that I got a second one for the home.

The Nest has been great! It was extremely quick and easy to set up. Very easy to use and control from your phone. It quickly learned our schedule and has been operating great and saving us money ever since!

I received this item as a gift and wasn't sure if I wanted to keep it. I live in a very old House and wasn't sure if the nest was even compatible with my furnace. I went through the online test, and it suggested that I take a photo of my wiring and email it to their support service. Not 24 hours later, and on the day after Christmas, I received a message back with additional questions. After verifying some things in coming to the conclusion that yes, it would work with my system, I set out to install it. Installation was incredibly easy and in less than an hour I had the nest installed and running. Since then, we seen a significant decrease in heating costs compared to last year. I'm incredibly happy with it!

We did our research and the Nest came out on top. Our bill kept being outrageous. We like it cool at night but then we aren't here during the day and we kept forgetting to move the thermostat back up in the morning. We saved $100 in the first month with being able to program the temps where we want based on when we're here. We love being able to adjust the temp from our phones too. I know there are others out there that do this, but there sure aren't one that look cooler while doing it! And it just looks stinkin cool on the wall. We love our Nest!

Having had the unit for a couple of months, I can’t really speak to any energy savings, but my bill has not gone up, so that’s something. A major reason I bought it was to be able to set high low temps (i.e., it can switch between heat and air based on the temp) and it handles that great. On the plus side, I like the auto away feature which automatically lowers (or raises, depending on the season) the temp when I leave the house but forget to alter the temp manually. On the con side of this feature, I wish there was a way to set the time before it engages. I have had it engage a couple of times on a Sunday afternoon when I fell asleep on the couch. I awoke to a cold house in winter only to find that the heat had shut itself off, walking up to the unit ends the “away” mode but you have to wake up from your nap to do this. Or of course, you could just use your smartphone to remotely control the unit and turn the heat back on, which is a nice feature. As other reviewers have mentioned, the motion detector is intermittent. I have my unit in a central hallway and just walking by it sometimes will wake it up and display the current temp and other times I have to practically jump up and down in front of it for a few seconds before it wakes up. No real rhyme or reason for this that I can tell, but truly a trivial issue. It was easy to install however I have an electric heat pump with an outside thermometer which the unit does not directly support (it pulls the temp off the web) so I had to contact tech support pre-purchase to verify that my two extra wires which were no on the NEST website weren’t important. The tech quickly diagnosed what the T1 and T2 wires were for after sending them a pic, but it would have been nice had those wires been on the website to begin with. Regardless, like I said the install was easy and only took a few minutes. Another small glitch is that their website doesn’t support all versions of IE, on my Windows 7 Pro machine I had to use Chrome, it works fine on my Windows 8 machine and IE 10. Works great on my Android phone. On the temp accuracy, it will go a degree or two above or below it's set point before kicking in, but I don't consider this to be a problem. Would I buy it again? Yes. Are there areas that can be improved, of course. Like most software driven products, I’m eagerly awaiting the next release, maybe they’ll fix that auto-away feature to let me set the number of hours before it kicks in.

Product is easy to use with simple design and interface. However easy install is a different matter. When they say consider pro-install for those with dual fuel systems I would consider it unless you truly know what you are doing. That being said tech support is awesome as they spent 6 hours over 2 days with me trying to get everything up and running and never once did they make me feel like an idiot for trying to do it myself. The nice thing is they were just as frustrated at having to refer me to a pro-installer. This is why I gave it 4 out 5 stars and also because I really haven't seen much in savings but can see how savings would come over time if you program it correctly. Programming and operation is easier from the internet or a wireless device than on the thermostat itself. Only other minor frustration is that it pulls weather data based on zip code and the internet and not from the equipment at your home. This may cause some problems as zip codes can cover large areas with varying weather conditions.

I bought this thermostat to replace my first generation Nest that broke down after couple of years of use. Yes, I liked it so much that I had to buy a new one. This smart thermostat is great. If you are looking for a good smart thermostat that can handle almost all types of systems this is it. For the average DIY person this thermostat is great. Very easy to setup and start using. Just open the box, grab the instructions and start following the steps. The box contains everything you need to install it, even a screwdriver with all the different tips you could need. You have to appreciate all this little details because this is not only a great looking product, but the engineers and designers thought about every single thing an average user would want from this product. ***Pros: Great easy to use WIFI thermostat, multifunction, weekly schedule, great set of apps and great customer service. ***Cons: There was a hiccup with an upgrade that created issues in the past. Hope they learned the lesson and this does not happen again. Requires more power than a regular old thermostat, make sure you have sufficient power to charge the thermostat. Does not work with Multi-zone systems. Google acquired Nest last year. I am still waiting to see more integration to Android phones and android wear devices. It would be awesome to be able to say “OK google” can you turn my nest to 70 degrees. Anyway we still have to see what Google plans are.

Easy to install and easy to operate. I received a $100 rebate from the power company. I love the way I can control it remotely. I am now waiting for the energy savings to roll in.

I'm very pleased with the Nest thermostat. Installation took about 30 minutes, and that was with me checking everything twice to ensure I had it right. Initially, I was skeptical about how a thermostat could really save money, but I've seen it make adjustments based on my family's comings and goings that a scheduled thermostat would never account for. I actually have two thermostats in my house, and only replaced the main living thermostat. Based on this experience, I will be buying a second for my top floor.

This makes it so much easier to adjust your thermostat and helps you save money. We never remembered to adjust our thermostat before we left the house for the day or even when we went on vacation, this does it for us. We can turn it back on on the drive back home and the house is already working on getting to the temperature that we want by the time we get home. But, what may be the best use we have found for this is when you get uncomfortable in bed at night, there is no more need to get up and do downstairs to adjust the temperature...just pick up your phone and set it to whatever you like and go back to sleep. AMAZING.

PROS:Looks great and gives the house the modern look motion sensor is still cool to see after a month when i walk by it Installation was very easy love the mobile/internet ability to be able to see reports and adjust settings CONS expensive there is a know battery issue with these little puppies, so make sure you call NEST support before you buy and talk with the tech team to make sure you will be ok. most newer houses are good to go.

I purchased the Nest with 2 sets of Philips Hue lights, a bloom, a nest protect smoke / co detector and a Dropcam Pro to start my conversion to home automation. This thermostat not only looks great but it links with my dropcam and the nest protect smoke detector so if there's an issue the thermostat automatically turns off, the dropcam takes photos of the room and sends a notification to my phone. I am also seeing the benefits of the usage tracking for energy consumption. So far money well spent.

Consolidated 2 thermostats into one Nest - had one for boiler and one for separate AC system we installed about 10 years ago. Installation was so easy and intuitive even combining the 2. The control and customization with Nest is great with the ability to adjust away from home. The learning aspect with the Nest being able to tell when you are home and away and making adjustments to the temps and schedule on its own (you can also adjust) make it even more appealing. I will be purchasing another Nest for my first floor level which only has a heat thermostat sometime in Oct. Highly recommended.

I purchased this about a month ago. The compatability checker the nest has online is easy to determine if it'll work in your home. Install was a breeze and it walks you step by step to set it up. After the first day it recognized our preferences and started automatically changing temperatures from that point on. It remembers when we leave for work, when we come home and when we go to bed. The only time I have to adjust it is when my boyfriend turns it up (since I don't like the house to feel like a sauna and he does, lol!). Anytime we leave the house I turn it down to the energy saver... And when we are on our way home, I use the app to turn the heat back on. So when we get back in the house, it's nice and toasty! I don't know how much I've saved on energy costs yet, but I don't even care, lol! It's sleek and modern and looks cool on our wall. I never have to think or worry about it. And if for some reason I wanna check what the temperature is in my house when I'm away, I can just check my app. I highly recommend this product to everyone. My co-worker, who's in his late forties, said I was crazy to spend that much money on a thermostat, but I have no regrets. I love it!
