The sound quality is surprisingly good, but you do need to mute it if another device is in the same room (they get confused). It does have latency issues because this is still an AC(WiFi 5) standard router which is ancient tech at this point. As this is my home (kids) network it's not a big deal but something to keep in mind, I do manage to get DL speeds of 350-550 Mbps depending on who's using what device and that includes full smart home automation.

We recommend ensuring that your Google Wifi primary and secondary points are within a straight line of sight to get the best signal from each other. You may also want to check for possible interference since appliances like your microwave oven, or other equipment like a refrigerator are known to cause signal interference. If you're using a modem/router combo, set it in bridge mode and disable its Wi-Fi functionality to avoid double NAT issues. You may then hardwire your Google Wifi primary point to the modem using an Ethernet cable and connect the other Google Wifi secondary points to the Primary to create a mesh network.

Even the Verizon Fios extender was a disappointment. My internet service was slower than before and it kept dropping my internet service. Now I don't have that issue. They didn't have the 3 pack at the store and had to buy another google point to extend the coverage for my house. The one issue I had was that the instructions could have been better. I found more information online. Have had this for only about a month but it is working great.

Google Assistant might activate when you don't say “Hey Google” or “Ok Google” when it detects something that sounds similar. Also, Google Assistant might not activate when you say “Hey Google” or “Ok Google,” particularly in a noisy environment. You can control how often Google Assistant responds to voice commands with the “Hey Google” sensitivity setting. This setting lets you choose how sensitive devices are to phrases that sound like “Hey Google” or “Ok Google.”
- Open your Google Home app
- Select your Nest Wifi
- At the top right, tap the Settings (Gear) icon
- Then tap Audio.
- Then tap""Hey Google"" sensitivity and adjust the slider to make your Nest Wifi more responsive to the hotword.
Retraining your Nest Wifi with the Voice Match may also help, especially if you have other family members sharing your Nest Wifi. You can try these outlined steps:
- Open the Google Home app on your mobile phone or tablet.
- At the top right, tap your account.
- Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap another account or Add another account.
- Tap Assistant settings > Voice match > Add devices.
- Make sure any devices you want to link your voice to are checked.
- Tap Next, I agree.
- Follow the in-app steps.
- To get your personal information, you must turn on Personal results.
- Tap I agree and proceed with the Voice match setup.
- To invite others to set up a Voice Match for tailored results, tap Invite, choose your communication method, and send the invite. To skip this step, tap No, thanks.

Wi-Fi never worked downstairs, so no ability to move about the house without losing Wi-Fi on laptops or mobile devices. Now, with Google nest mesh Wi-Fi, everything works perfectly, and vice calls on mobile device are great with Wi-Fi calling. I have no idea why I waited so long to pull the trigger. Everything works better, from mobile devices to internet TV. Get this!

Most devices use DHCP, which assigns dynamic IP addresses, as a default. But sometimes, you want devices to always have the same IP address. For example, a wireless printer. When you print something, your computer and printer locate each other using IP addresses. If your printer’s IP address keeps changing, your computer may not always be able to find it. Giving your printer a static IP address ensures that your computer always knows the address of your printer as it won’t change if it’s rebooted or if a DHCP IP lease expires.

However, installing the nest wifi would only give me 200 mb downloads, even right next to the router. I replaced it with an asus ax11000 and speeds immediately went to 400-480 mb downloads. Loved the ease of use and if your internet is in the 200 mb or lower range, this is probably a great option. However, for higher speed services, not great.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend Awsome Wifi. Google Assistant.....not quite Alexa
