Easy Installation - Saves Money!

Easy installation - cost recovered in about 7 months by not renting from Comcast! I got more than 500 Mbps through the modem. Unfortunately, this meant I had to replace my router as well to get this speed to my computer - the old router was 100 Mbps. I'm not using cable for phone service, but this modem has VOIP capability to keep my future options open. Buy it!

I was initially reluctant to buy my own cable modem to use with my Xfinity - Comcast service but I have to say that I'm VERY HAPPY so far.......... It works great for my HOME PHONE line and it provides good speed to my Netgear Nighthawk Router so I receive the download speeds Comcast stated I have. By the way, the speed I have coming down via Wifi is 200 Mbps and my computer is far from the router ****** Like - over 45 feet away.

This Modem is allowing the phones system to work over cable and is running BLAST internet at full speed. No more slowing down with multiple devices. I should have made this purchase a long time ago. This Modem is allowing the ROKU to run without interruption. Excellent purchase from Best Buy. Fully compatible with COMCAST/XFINITY.

I had to buy a new cable modem with the VoIP capability. After some researches, I landed with this one as 1) the price is reasonable , 2) the speed is within my current subscription with still lots of room to spare and 3) works with my current ISP. I did have a little trouble trying to connect to it to change the admin password when I first set it up. Other than that, it has been working flawlessly and the internet connection speed is good with very clear voice for the phone.

The CM500V is Great Cable Modem

After we switched from ATT to Comcast Xfinity, we needed a new modem. A quick note about why we switched. We decided to scrap our basic TV service and move to streaming TV. At best, ATT only could get up to 25-50 mbps speed, which resulted in frequent wifi slow downs and interruptions. We are currently are at a minimum of 100 mbps speed, and so far no problems at all! We also had an Orbi router to handle our WiFi, and we needed a modem that worked with both internet and voice/phone. The NETGEAR CM500V - 16 x 4 DOCSIS 3.0 Cable Modem - provides the connection to high-speed cable Internet with speeds up to 680 Mbps and supports 2 phone lines. As a DOCSIS 3.0 version, it is 16X faster than 2.0 devices. A Gigabit Ethernet port provides faster access and downloads. It was interesting that when the Comcast service agent came to hook us up, he said we had one of the best systems he has seen. The system works great . . . no down time and no slow downs!! And I don't have to pay the monthly rental fees, and in one year, we will have paid for the unit!! Hopefully this great performer will continue to perform for many years.

After our phone service got so bad with noise on the line, and then worse as in totally unusable after "repair", it was necessary to switch to Xfinity Voice which required changing from my old data modem to a voice modem. This modem proved to be easy to set up and was compatible with Xfinity as advertised.

I decided to stop paying cable company to rent their router and modem. I bought this modem to upgrade from my old one I purchased two years ago and it doubled my Internet speeds. Very easy to connect and set up. So far so good. Don’t pay that to rent a quick minute. It’s worth buying your own

Used for new xfinity voice/internet service. Worked very well. Had initial issues of modem every morning dropping out and having to be reset. Called NETGEAR support ran some tests and said signal strength from xfinity was to high. Xfinity came and checked it out and put filter on line and signal strength still to high so they found issue with amplifier on the Main line which they fixed. Been trouble free since then. Modem seems to be a good choice for basic service

Just changed to Xfinity for internet and telephone. This unit is saving me $14/month in rental fees for an Xfinity modem. Recommended to me by Xfinity salesperson. Compact unit; easy to set up and install.
I made a bracket to mount it in my media cabinet so it takes no shelf space.

I am one of thousands of cable customers who thought it was better to rent a modem vs buy. Hate to admit it, but I have been renting my cable modem for 15 years at close to $10 per month. The most recent modem and router provided by the cable company was spotty from the start and it opened my eyes to finding a better solution. Thanks to a helpful Best Buy employee, I found this simple, but effective NetGear modem and then added a two station Orbi router to improve our WIFI signal/speed throughout the house. My total investment was just over $300. Set up time was just under 2 hours (including the call to the cable company to activate the new modem). We average 8 devices using the WIFI access at the same time and everyone seems happier with the performance over the past 5 weeks. With what I paid in rent, I could have purchased these sooner and upgraded 3-4x.

As of Jan 2019 I feel like this unit is slightly out-dated in its specs & over-priced. But the setup was easy and once the device was installed it turned out to be BETTER than the XFINITY modem that I replaced. I chose this device because I already had a router and WIFI device that supported my home. Payback on elimination of modem rental should be about 9 months.

Instructions say to call Comcast but like other reviewers, I was able to just plug it all in, restart my router and I got prompted to sign into my account and have it auto activate. No more rental fees woohoo. It was even able to activate my telephone line as well without calling. I have triple play from Xfinity. It did restart itself a few times during installation to complete it's set up. Speeds great, I am able to get my full speed tier of about 175Mbps down and 10Mbps up. Once you have it all set up, you do lose the ability to manage it through the Xfinity portal (which is no big deal) and it will say that the device isn't supported even though it is listed on their device compatibility page as fully supported. This thing will pay for itself in about 14 months since rental fees are about 10/month. I paired it with a Netgear Nighthawk R7000 router.

This modem is very easy to set up and works great in any part of the house. The range has been great and all systems function very well on it. Worth the price and having your own modem as opposed to using the cable companies system

Looking to save monthly fees on Comcast modern? This is the item for you. Item is very simple to set up. All you need is your internet provider to establish the connection. Work as well or better than company product. Also compatible with some other cable companies.

The cable modem allowed me to upgrade the speed of my internet system and not incur the providers monthly rental cost which would equal cost to the 2 year contract requirement. I got speed increase and financial reward.
