You can set up each camera individually to your needs. I have my 2 outside cameras set to motion detection and recording (you can even adjust the amount of time to record). The other 4 cameras I set up inside and they are not set for motion or recording - (although you can pick any one of them or all of them to do that) just monitoring - so I can check up on my dogs. Every time your motion detector goes off and your camera or cameras record, you will receive an alert via text message or email or both! You then have the option to review each video and save (and download to your computer to get it off your storage) or delete any or all of them! That way you never reach the free 1GB storage! This system is super easy and works efficiently for basic security or monitoring (my pets) needs. I have a 4500 sq. ft. home and my two outside cameras are mounted on each side of my garage to look down my driveway and towards the front entrance of the house; our base is at the other end of our house (inside); and both outdoor cameras work perfectly! We even tested one of them at the opposite end of our backyard from our shed and pointed it toward the back of the house entrance and it worked without a glitch. As far as batteries, each camera takes 2 lithium CR17345 batteries. I have had my system for about two weeks and have a full charge on all of my cameras - even the ones outside! You can easily check your battery life on each camera from your Arlo app. and batteries are super easy to change! If you are at all hesitant - this system is worth every penny for your peace of mind and its super easy! Also, if you get it home and find that it really doesn't fit your needs - you can return it to Best Buy!

If your looking for a fee-less camera system that is wireless, this is your best option. I ended up returning this item, not due to anthing wrong with it, just decided to go with a security company that will provide camera's, so this was not needed anymore. Other than the occasional buffer on the live stream, the video was really good and the mic on the two internal cameras was good as well. The outdoor cameras would often catch people leaving other than catching them coming; I think this was a setting I could not work out though so this might have been my fault for not figuring out what setting to tweak on this. Overall, if I wasn't going with a security camera company I would have kept this. I only bought it on a whim when in store because it was on sale.

I absolutely love the Arlo system. I can keep regular tabs on our church property from my phone app. Honestly, the longest part of the setup was putting up the cameras outside. The setup instructions were easy to follow and no real problems. I was a little concerned about the battery life of the four outside cameras but after six weeks I am still at 88% battery life. I have the outside to detect motion and they work great!

CAMERA QUALITY AND MOTION SENSITIVITY ARE AMAZING. THE SET UP TO ISOLATE AND SET MODES FOR EACH CAMERA IS A LITTLE CUMBERSOME. OVERALL VERY EASY TO SET UP AND OVERALL A GREAT SYSTEM. I WISH IT HAD TEMPERATURE READINGS. 2.5 MONTHS NOW AND REMOTE CAMERA BATTERIES ARE AT 80% STILL.

Great camera system. Works great with no monthly fees that other companies charge. You get one week of free recordings. If you want longer than a week of recordings, you can choose to pay. Camera resolution is good for most things. They did come out with the Arlo HD which is 1080 vs the 720 for this one. But this one works great around the outside of the house and two cameras at 1080 for indoors.

I previously owned a Arlo Q Plus and was very happy with the quality, software, and app. I decided to purchase a full system so that I could protect and monitor my entire home. Battery life on the wireless cameras could be better. I love that there is IFTTT integration as well as wink integration. The CVR function of the cameras is nice, but a bit pricey. Overall I am very pleased with this product.

If you're looking for a home security camera system without the hassle of wires, this sytem works great. The app is very user friendly. Setup for the entire 6 cameras took a couple hours, mainly due to firmware updates. The range isn't great, but I was still able to mount 2 in my yard facing the house. All in all I'm extremely happy. Have been using the cameras for 3 weeks now.

System installation and setup went as advertised in manuals. Only hiccup was self-inflicted; kept entering incorrect password for my WiFi router. Once i figured that out everything proceeded smoothly. Still tinkering with motion sensitivity, systems alerts when wind causes shadows to move or birds fly close to cameras. Alerts are prompt and system has performed as expected.

Nice looking little cameras and they have a bit of weight to them. They aren't heavy by any means but feel like quality little units. They can sit on any flat surface or you may use the supplied magnetic mounts to install on a wall. They also have a tripod type adapter on the bottom which may open up some additional mounting possibilities.

Easy system to set up. Pretty much place the cameras where you want them within wifi range and connect. Able to log on and see all the alerts and live streaming on various cameras. Now I can see who walks into the driveway area and drops off packages etc. A bit spendy at first, but cheaper than spending $ on a monthly recurring system or a wired system.

Works pretty well for my purposes. The Arlo Qs have pretty good resolution, motion sensing, and nighttime performance. The angle could be a little wider, but it's fine. The Arlos also work fine if you can position them well. Like some reviews say, they really work best for things walking across it. I'm still on my first set of batteries -- about 15% drain in one month (according to the app) recording about 2 minutes a day. The android app is a little buggy sometimes. If you change menus too quickly, I might need to quit and restart the app. Also, lately I haven't always been able to get my live feeds while on my cell connection (LTE). It still records and I can access the recordings, but no live view. Overall, I'd buy it again.

After looking into home video surveillance solutions for several months, i finally made the leap and decided to try the NetGear Arlo 6 camera solution which was easy to install and I had it functioning on computer, multiple iPhones and multiple iPads with multiple users, the second one invited as a guest, within an hour. works perfectly. One minor issue is sensitivity of the IR motion detector so you need to optimize that over time or you get too many alerts. Overall great product for less than $1,000 and no monthly subscription fees to store video in the cloud.

This camera system setup in just minutes. It does support all 6 cameras, but you need to delete un wanted recorded video to keep space available for new recordings. Our only complaint is that we wish the range was a bit better. I wish the motion detection was a little further out to help pickup activity around our house and lessen the need for more cameras. The camera itself shows the picture further away, but doesn't start recording until the detection picks up, which is much closer... so even with this number of cameras we have some uncovered areas... we may add more cameras in the future. It was nice to not have to run wires as we have done with some previous systems.

Batteries die easily. Customer service denies bad batteries. Batteries are expensive. Getting the minimum of what I purchased it for. Do like the fact that it was easy set up though. I'll find a better system once I get my money's worth. Should have returned it while I could. I would have rather purchased something else. Best Buy employees weren't able to give me any help with camera systems.

We use these cameras at a vacation home - They work better than expected. the quality of the video is excellent both day and night. You are notified when you have motion detected right on your phone and to an email address. I would highly recommend these to anyone that wants that extra bit of security.

The cameras are great for a wireless system. They were easy to set up and position in places I needed them. The app also has a position mode that will allow you to get a look at the camera before the final placement. The cameras do need batteries. Your battery usage will of course depend on how often the cameras are used and set off. I will also admit that I have to restart my arlo q's every once in a while. I wish that I could also configure a way to store my own data. This is the reason for the four stars instead of five.

It's a great system since there's no wires on some of the camera's. The ones you actually plug in have 2 way audio which is great. It does take some time to connect when viewing away from home, but once it does the picture seems to be fine. I have one mounted looking at my front door, my neighbors have said they have been being ding dong ditched, I think the camera may keep that away. If not we will know who the culprit is soon!
