This was easy to get set up. I like that you can move the cameras around easily. Works well but the app/website could use a little fine tuning. Good system for what we were looking for. We are using both indoors and outdoors. If you are looking for continuous recording you need to look at a different system. From everything I researched no system had all the features we wanted but this has proven to be a good compromise.

The cameras were easy to set up and adjust. The picture quality is good. If your a novice like me you may need to download the Netgear Arlo users manual to fully understand its functions. One thing that I didn't like was the mounting system. It comes with one permanent type mount and the rest are magnetic mounts . It would be easy for someone to knock them off of the magnetic mounts with anything that they could reach them with. I have not had them long enough to evaluated battery life. Each camera takes 4 and they are not cheap.

I was buying the product to put out side of my house. but find a a problem with this product. Pro - it got nice 720p picture quality and great night vision. it have motion detection for moving object. the distance for the cam to base it great. the app set up is very easy . i got it done within 5 mins. and basic service is free. Con - the reason i end up return it. because there is no function now to record anything on local hard drive or storage. all the record have to be upload to Netgear Cloud. which me if you internet or power go out you got nothing. On Arlo forum said they have plane to work on the local storage but don't know when. i might revisit this when hat function is up. conclusion - if you just want to use as a normal cam not like a surveillance cam to record 24/7 this might be a good choice for you. but if you looking do get his as your surveillance cam they might want to look some where else.

Read a lot of reviews prior to purchase, mostly good and only saw a couple of issues 1-battery life 2 - set up issues. So far, neither one of those things have not been an issue. The system set up was a piece of cake, unpackaging it took longer than the actual set up. I've had the system for over a month and have yet to see battery depletion . . .I don't use them for viewing things, motion detection and recording for 10 seconds and once and a while checking out the porch and to see if I left the garage door open. I was worried so I ordered a bunch of batteries from that gigantic place named after a south american river, and have not needed them yet. The picture quality is good. If a room is pitch black, you will see the infrared lights and a very slight clicking noise. The cameras mount very easy if you have metal surface to attach them too, although the mounting hardware allows for precise camera angles . . .magnets are very powerful. The system requirements state 1 Mbps upload capacity. My phone company internet is .75 Mbps and it hasn't caused any issues that I notice. My only complaint is the motion detection in terms of range and sensitivity. I've tried the adjustments for sensitivity without much luck and the range is not very far, in my experience its only about 12-14 feet.

A friend of mine mentioned this camera - decided to buy and see if it's worth. To me, the fact that it's totally wireless is the best feature - and it works really well. Very easy to connect, install and mount, I can have great images around my house. The only comment is about the sensitivity of the motion sensor - sometimes it seems it captures too much (car passing in front of home, really far from the camera) while very often the same camera does not capture well in advance people approaching my front door. But it may be due to the angle, I may have to adjust it.

Cameras and cloud server are good for the price you pay. 4 cameras that are wireless with the only draw back being the batteries. Be forwarded the camera uses CR123 batteries which for a pack of 12 are $30 at various stores. The app is easy to navigate, it's easy to add cameras and sync them. However if you do plan on using this as a primary security camera you need to set the schedule on the app. If you have a typical schedule (9-5) then it's for you. If you have a crazy schedule with people coming and going constantly, your batteries will constantly be running low. Until Arlo adds a feature on their app that recognizes individual devices (your phones) and can deactivate once the device is within range so you don't waste battery life this is not a feasible system.

Set up was a cinch. Cant beat the wireless cameras. Can pretty much put anywhere you want without worrying about the wires. Apple app could use a little tweaking. But overall easy to use. Too soon to tell about the battery life. Would be better with sound but you have to give up something to get the wireless portability. Night vision is good. Recommended product.

Arlo works as described. A child can set it up. No wires. No mess. Plug base into your router. Sync cameras to base. Set cameras in desired locations. Download the app. You can be up and running in 10 minutes. All video uploaded to the cloud. You can view on your computer or mobile device.

This camera is great for apartments and small space. The video and image quality are great.. However, I think the cameras could end up being a little costly to maintain because the batteries deplete quickly. I had to change out the batteries twice in once month on one of the camera. The others seem to be working just fine, therefore, I'm assuming it's based on how much the camera is being recorded, viewed or sensed motion. Overall this is a great camera. I didn't give it a five star because the batteries run-out quickly and it always seems to be go offline so I have to end up rebooting or restarting the base. Also, It can take hours to fix a problem with the unit as you have to google and basically try to troubleshoot the problem on your own.

Very easy to set-up this system. Easy to set-up the monitoring schedule online. I have disabled the motion sensing option as I have primarily used to check on what the dogs are up to when I'm gone. My wireless router is located in the front room of the house and I installed a Netgear AC750 range extender in the room on the back side of the house to extend the wireless signal inside a metal building approximately 100' from the house. Wireless signal is great and no problem getting images from the camera in the building. Bought a bunch of extra spare batteries online, but since I'm not using the motion sensing option, the original batteries are still working fine. I actually just purcahsed a fifth camera to add on to the system. Since this is a wireless system it really is nice to move the cameras around and not be limited by hard wiring. Extreremly satisfied with this plug-n-play security system!

I researched this product for a while. I passed up the opportunity a couple of times and finally pulled the trigger. I have to say, I had my doubts. First, it was super easy to set up. It has been a week and I am very happy. The quality is astonishing for its size. I thought the batteries would be drained. They are still fully charged. Being that you can control how and when it activate helps. The online access is a cinch and you can share with others securely. They ARE INDEED water resistant. The WiFi range is spectacular. I have 3 outside, one of which is up in a tree overlooking the yard. They range is about 300' from the base. I will probably by additional cameras.

Battery power offers flexibility, but limitations

The Good: Very easy to set up. Battery provides flexibility in both indoor and outdoor locations. Compared with other cameras, nighttime camera is good. App is straightforward. The Bad: Arlos manages battery power with the motion sensor and when motion is detected, the camera turns on an starts recording a clip. However, there is a significant delay between when motion is detected and the camera starts recording. Therefore, the beginning of the event you want to capture is missed. Also there is not yet enough control over when/how notifications are received and they are currently overwhelming.

My wife and I own a garden center and have been looking for an affordable solution. The biggest issue is that we don't have power anywhere that we would like to place cameras. Arlo fixes that with these totally wireless cameras. We purchased the 4 pack (which keeps us under the limit before you have to pay amp they fee to add more). We couldn't be happier with the quality of the cameras or the video. We've had them for a few months and everything is working great. The batteries seem to last a long time (they advertise 6 months). The motion detection works pretty well on these too. You'll need to make sure that when you place the camera, the motion that it will detect will be side to side motion (Netgear also recommends this). The night vision works pretty well too. We have ours in complete darkness at night and can still see what we need to. Another thing is that the Arlo app has been updated twice since we first got the cameras and it keeps getting better and better. The one thing to remember with this system is that it isn't a DVR system that's always recording. It only recordings when either you tell it to manually or it detects motion. The scheduling feature is pretty nice and gives you a lot of flexibility. All in all, this is a great starter set for someone looking to add piece of mind. It is well worth the price.

This is a good wireless solution for security cameras. However I've only had it up and running in warmer weather. I am deeply concerned about battery performance when the winter comes. I have foundThe iPhone and desktop interaction with the application just fine. I like the picture from my Dropcam better.however the wireless solution makes this a better alternative to the drop cam. As does the price.

PRO - Easy Setup, Easy to use App on android and IOS CON - Expensive but thats what you pay for a wireless setup. Others mention that battery drains quickly but its probably dependent on if you put it in areas with high traffic for motion detection. This is very easy to setup and the connection is good. There are times where it takes a minute to connect to a live feed but expected since dealing with wireless. I see bad reviews because of connection but its always up to how your wireless speed/signal is. I have a camera on a tree in the backyard that is about 25 yards from the house and connection is good. Only problem is night time vision is harder to see details from a distance. You do have to play around with the sensitivity of motion detection. No issues so far with the battery but its only been 2 months.

Setup is easy Picture is great If constant live monitoring is your goal, get a wired system with a hard drive. Live monitoring will eat up your batteries, and they are expensive. If you just need it for motion detection when you are away then its perfect. Ive had them over a month and batteries are still going strong. I disarm them before going outside to save battery life.

I bought this system to replace an existing camera that I used for my daycare. The camera I had was very complicated to set up and use for both admins and guest users. You had to be very technologically savvy to use and monitor it. It did have a few features that were better such as being able to have a general user schedule for live feed but the admin could see all the time. It also had sound that you could disable if you wanted to. That being said the Arlo camera has a very simple user interface and you don't have to have a separate program to record, it's all included in the login. Also, you don't have to program the system at all. Just create your login and start viewing. I love that it's completely wireless. I was a little nervous about battery consumption because of the type of batteries the camera takes but it turned out to be better than expected. Also, if you go online you can find the batteries for a pretty good price if you buy them in bulk. The customer phone support has been really good so far and they have forums and blogs where you can get advice from advanced users or from a customer support person from Arlo. You can also make suggestions for software upgrades and other improvements you'd like to see and they actually do read them and respond. As far as price. It is a little pricey but worth the money. No one else has a completely wireless system and that is weather proof. The hardware is great quality. I accidentally knocked one down outside by my back door. There wasn't a scratch and it still worked perfectly. Very happy with my purchase and will probably purchase add on cameras in the future.

Netgear Arlo - a very simple and efficient system

Netgear Arlo - a very simple and efficient security system After installing a wired security system at my previous house, it was clear I did not want to deal with all the wiring issues I had (headaches, extra cost, etc). Seeing Arlo made me changed my mind about getting a new security system. The promise is clear - and I like a lot about it. The cameras - good quality video during the day - not so good at night. If you put them outside, you may want to add a permanent light or a movement detection one. Camera design - very pretty. The magnetic mounts - awesome! Way better than the traditional type mounts. I've installed three out of my four cameras up high so you can't take them down easily (they're not within easy reach). Battery operated: mixed feelings. I love the "look ma' - no wires" concept - but the CR123(A) batteries are not very cheap - and you need four per camera. I guess buying in bulk helps. The fact that up to 5 cameras have free 7 day recording lifespan more than compensates for the batteries cost. It's too early (for me) to tell how often I'll have to change them - but based on a few days of usage I believe the four months estimate may be a bit too optimistic. Mileage depends on application, of course. iPhone app is also very easy to navigate and has a very logical and intuitive design. It does occasionally crash - but that may also be all the stuff on my iPhone. Similarly - the website design is also very nice and intuitive. In summary - for a no bells and whistles system (that I did not actually need or want), this is a great system. Cost is a tad higher that a lot of the low(er) cost wired systems out there - but the convenience it offers is worth it for me.. If the cameras hold up well (time will tell), I'd say this system is better for 90% of the non tech savvy users - or the tech savvy ones that value simplicity. The only area where you may have to think twice is the lack of sound - but I just saw Netgear came up with a new design camera that has full sound (you can listen and you can speak). Not sure if it's full duplex, but I wouldn't care much about that anyways. If your application requires mounting a camera at the entry door you may want sound. It was not a big deal for me - more a nice to have. Have I mentioned how cool the magnetic mount is:-)?

I originally was skeptical about buying ANOTHER camera system. I have bought so many of them, then I got the ADT system with cameras, which just wasted more money. HOWEVER Arlo is a total different story. I HAD to buy a system to watch my 4 year old who just been in the hospital and was in a coma. We brought him home but he needed to be watched all the time and all of our friends and family always want to check on him. Well Arlo does this and so much more. Though you can only have one MAIN account you can invite other people to have access to just certain cameras or all of them or you can give them admin priv. to change recordings etc. The night vision is truly amazing. We also have one at our front and rear doors and in total pitch darkness you can see a good distance away as if it were daytime. You can have it record all the time or on motion only or set up a schedule to record. Each camera can be different. There is zoom feat and though it does not pan, the wideness of the lens makes it that you really don't need to. NO wires. not for power not for connecting to base. It uses 2 camera type batteries(included energizer) that last for between 4-6 months depending on recording amount. You can check battery levels and mine have not moved. Total setup time 5-10 mins. You cant beat all the features and there are just to many to list!

I would definitely recommend this camera. I've used a number of network cameras over the years and this by far is the easiest to setup and use. The image quality is superb and the night vision is better than expected. This review would be for 5 stars except for the battery life of the camera. The complete wireless functionality is amazing so you can put it even where AC power is not available, but the batteries are expensive and do not last as long as I would like. My camera has said low battery for two weeks (original batteries are only 2 months old). While they make an AC version now, it is not the same camera. I wish a power pack was available that would allow for an AC adapter to be used with this model.
