Easy to Install and Set up out of the box!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Arlo camera was an ease to set up and get running right out of the box. We have metal siding on our house, so I was even able to attach the camera's temporarily at certain points around the exterior in order to find the best camera angle. I'm even able to set one up quite a distance from the house with good reception to the wireless router. The only downside was that two sets of the batteries died within two days of purchase. I replaced them and have had no issues with them draining quickly since. I appreciate the fact that the storage is cloud based, and thus, I am able to access it any time. It took me a bit to learn how to adjust the camera and record settings, but it wasn't difficult - I just needed to play with it to get it where I wanted it.

Pretty, but poor software + critical hardware flaw
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly I hate to be frank, but really these cameras should have never been released, they have a critical design flaw and some lack-luster software support. I will elaborate, however here are my minor complaints. 1) the 2nd day my app said my base station was offline, it however had green light to cameras and internet. While i had the app open i power cycled the base unit and low and behold it all came back to life. Having a cloud only unit that does not properly reconnect to the cloud on problems is unacceptable. I have my entire network battery backed up including the Arlo base unit, power wasn't an issue. Needless to say this does not instill confidence in me as a reliable product when I need it. 2) The software while looking pretty is practically functionally useless. 10 seconds to 120 seconds recording option? Really why not record X seconds after motion stops. If you leave it at 10 seconds (factory setting) it's just garbage since the clips are not consecutive. IE lag, 10 seconds record (of UPS truck driving in), another maybe 10 second gap (where important stuff happens like UPS guy throws package down that you missed), 10 seconds recording (of UPS driving away). So as a user your forced to select 120 always making the other settings useless. Related note on Android you can't even scrub the video playback, you see a play button that you can toggle between playing and pausing but you can never go back in time. The only way to do it is to force refresh the chrome page. If you're going to use built in web pages to play the video make sure the actual player web pages work. I have a Google Nexus 5 so it's not like this is a custom setup. 3) Last and by far the most critical. Motion detected to camera recording lag. Wow this is bad, and I mean REAL bad. This product should have never gotten made if this is indeed a physical design problem. I have the camera over looking a large area, so lets say a person walking is like 20 feet away, they are able to walk anywhere from 1/2 the frame to 3/4 of the frame before it kicks into video mode. So basically you're forced to put the cameras so far back to give adequate boot up time for camera recording that the video quality is useless. People have reported online anywhere from 5 to 20 seconds of lag, mine was definitely over 5. The solution posted on your forums is to use 2 cameras to over lap an area and daisy chain the detection of one to start the next one. At $150 a camera that is NOT acceptable. You've gone and said, look that base station, really is a 2, maybe 3 camera max, at 300 a camera. WOW, and hopefully you have enough space to not care about the initial 5 to 20 seconds of video. Sorry to sound harsh but I'm just amazed that this product is on the shelf at major stores and costs this much for these major holes. As soon as another company makes a weatherproof battery powered wireless camera you're going to have some serious problems.

Security camera that goes anywhere
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Arlo system was easy to set-up and has been easy to use. We have one set-up in our yard where no electrical outlet was available. The video quality has been fine for our application, which is monitoring the activities of pets and children in the backyard. The motion sensor also works well, along with the automated alerts. The free cloud storage offered has been adequate for our needs.

Almost great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This cam is perfect for indoor or outdoor security. The video quality is excellent, with panning and closeups. I was impressed by the ease of setup with the base station, but ultimately was able to bypass the base station and connect directly to my netgear router. My only complaint is the short life of the expensive batteries. Hopefully netgear can improve upon this in the future.

Perfect product for minimal effort in setup
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did a lot of research before purchasing this product. The key to my decision was that I didn't have to drill a lot of holes in my walls to route cables. Out of the box it took me minutes to install batteries and link to wifi. I did purchase some additional hardware to get the best angles on my outdoor setup. 6" extension poles $12.00 and some rechargeable batteries $60.00. I set the cameras up beginning of Sep and they are still showing full battery life after about 150 personal views (keep an eye on construction crew installing my pool)and 30 motion sensor at 10 sec recordings (downloadable to your smart phone). Cons: motion sensor is inferred(not made to be 24/7 viewing) which means a change in heat will set off motion sensor. Took a long time and switching cameras around for ones less sensitive for outside use. Batteries are not common and difficult to find (use Amazon) suggest rechargeable (will not last as long as new batteries per charge but cheaper option in long run). Would buy again. Love the access from anywhere

Nice-VERY easy set-up. Terrible BATTERY life
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the live feed ... Sharp video. SUPER EASY SET UP !! One star minus since batteries last maybe a month. Really!!! Not even close to the 3 to 6 months stated by EVERY blue shirt I asked...

Good if hardwire not an option
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We purchased the camera to install on our 2 story home. Getting wiring out to the eaves was difficult so wireless seemed the way to go. The setup is fairly easy. Don't be fooled by the magnetic bases, they work. Ours have been up for almost 2 months and not a single one has budged. Not even the one on an out building a racoon became fascinated with and just loved hanging over and looking into. However, there are 2 issues we have encountered: 1. the recording doesn't start very quickly. We have found that the camera doesn't trigger immediately when someone or something comes into range. It can take 5-10 seconds for the camera to start recording, so a lot is missed. 2. difficult to set the sensitivity to only be set off by people in-lieu of bugs or bushes. The picture quality is great and hopefully we'll get the bugs with the sensitivity worked out. We put one on a back fence facing the house and so is a good distance from the base and there is no issue with connection.

Good system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This system is very easy to install. I had all 4 cameras set in place and operating in less than a half hour. The videos are very clear during the day. Only fair at best at night unless the movement is pretty close to the camera. My two negatives are that the sensitivity is not as good as I'd like, for example I sometimes pick up (record) a truck going by in the front yard, yet that same camera won't pick up a person until he is so close to the camera that I only have a second to see who it is before they are past the camera (that's my second complaint, many times I just get a second of a facial shot... I'd love it if the camera, when sensing motion would be able to start recording from, maybe 5 seconds BEFORE it actually sensed the motion). Still, it is a good, basic system.

Great Video Quality and Easy to Install
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did my research and found this to be the best rated wireless home security. I am very happy with the quality of the product and how easy it was to install - takes less than an hour and all you need is a drill. Netgear Arlo Service/subscription could use some improvement - they only allow four cameras to stream at the same time. I bought additional set of cameras so this was disappointing (you have to choose the four you want to stream and the rest are on pause). Additionally, they only allow you to be signed in and view recordings from one device at a time. So my wife and I cant both monitor when I travel. Hopefully Netgear will work through this service issues as the product is amazing.

Cant be beat for the price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simply put, these are by far the best option for the price. They are completely wireless, the batteries last about a year, depending on use, and are easily replaceable. they are extremely easy to setup, the app is easy to use, and they record to the cloud rather than the camera itself, so if its damaged, taken down, or stolen, you can still see who did it and when.

Great cable free security system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the price and simplicity of setup, this system can't be beat. Pros simple setup(no wires), battery life is acceptable, I'm getting about 2 1/2-3 1/2 months on the batteries depending on how much I view each cameras live stream. Free basic plan. The magnetic camera mounts are ver well designed, however only an option for inside or very high locations outside as the cameras can be pilfered very easily off the magnetic mounts. Other mounts are available. The kit I purchased came with one pole mount that the camera screws into. I used this one at the front door. Cons-Free Basic plan, yes I know I have it listed as a pro as well. It is listed as a pro as most similar systems have no free plan at all. The free plan is limited to 5 cameras with 1GB cloud storage with 7 days of retention. Would prefer at least 8 free with the same storage plan. Can't store video to a local NAS, I'm hoping this will be a future upgrade for this system. There is a short 3-5 second delay prior to video capture begins. This could be eliminated with a local storage option. Does not record sound. Overall- a very well designed system with a little room to improve.

Very Easy to set up
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This system was the easiest system to set up ever ! There are some issues with them that I hope they fix, the cameras motion detection works best when going side to side and not so great when coming straight on, the camera mounts are really easy and versatile but if you need to purchase more of them be prepared for sticker shock. The WiFi range is based on line of sight so you may need to purchase a WiFi extender, the night vision is not the best on it's own but if you have some lights on around the outside of your home then they work much better. This is a really nice system but it is a bit pricey in my opinion and depending on your internet provider it may take a little bit to log into the cameras to see what is going on.

Could be great but needs work
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm having mixed feelings about this system. The concept is great! A truely wireless system that is very simple to setup. Install and setup only took a matter of minutes. The image quality is far better than others on the market. The motion detection and alerts are pretty consitant. However here's where the issues are. Netgear has been great but I truly think this product was released too soon. Hopefully most of these bugs get worked out for later users. First one camera image kept turning red. Netgear replaced it for me. Second two of the cameras went dead within a week and had to replace batteries. Once replaced they worked fine, but only after buying 8 new batteries. These cr123's aren't cheap. Netgear said it was an update issue. Third is the scheduling and app settings. If you for any reason your base losses power or resets for an update all your settings are lost. Netgear's been great, but the issues still pop up.

Great camera for wireless installation
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I loved the ease of installation and set up. I had it up and running within a half hour of opening the package. It would be ultra fantastic if there were a camera that could be plugged into and outlet to be powered instead of only battery operated as my front door has an outlet next to the camera and then I wouldn't have to worry about going through batteries. I must say that I'm impressed that it has been working through the -10 degree fahrenheit temps for the last couple days.

Superbly Easy to Set Up and Use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Simplest thing yet to set up the cameras, synch them to a home network and be underway. On/off timers settable for each day, but for simple turn on when leaving, you can leave the cameras synched all the time and turn on the interface when you leave. Camera quality is quite good, 720p. Zoom feature goes into pixilation after a couple steps of zoom, though. Color rendition is good in moderate light. Night vision is fair. Model now available with sound as well as video, which is a reasonable and helpful upgrade. Buy as many cameras at first as you think you'll need, because adding them is $159 each. A multi unit can handle 5 cameras, which gives most homes good coverage. Email notification of events very good, especially to remotes through smart phone. Archive of videos saved readily available on the site you set up. I like this kit.

Great security cameras...no wiring required.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was first interested in the Arlo cameras because they are wireless and weatherproof, plus the mobile app looked great and cloud storage is free. After having the cameras up for 2 months or so I can say that I am very happy with the purchase. Setup of the base station and cameras is very easy. Adjusting the settings with the Arlo iPhone app is also tremendously easy. The picture quality, even on battery savings mode, is very good. The night vision mode also produces good quality images. The battery indicator shows full on all 4 cameras after over 2 months, even for the camera mounted in an interior room that has quite a bit of foot traffic. The one piece of constructive feedback here is that there is a 2 second delay in capturing images. So you must think about putting the cameras in a location that will keep any subject in view for a little bit of time. Not a huge deal, but it is mentioned in other reviews I have read. Overall, a great product.

Good system overall
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was very easy to set up and start using. The motion detection part is a little tricky. But the tips sent by email from Arlo helped. Side to side motion is better detected. The wireless system is great, no running wires! Overall it's pretty good and I've already recommended to a few people.

Nice camera system
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've only had it for a week, so take this with a grain of 'newbie' salt: The picture from the cameras are good quality and the whole process was amazingly simple to configure. I installed the cameras at my cottage because I'm only there on the weekends and we wanted to be able to make sure that no one was messing with our boats and things while we were gone. I've been notified this past week of my lawn service wandering around my lawn, two deer, and my flag waving....guess I'll need to adjust the sensitivity and aim on that last camera. But overall, this system is a good system for beginners. You can configure the length of time that your camera records after motion sensing, the night vision is good (although not great), and generally it's a pretty simple system to operate.

Fantastic product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Incredibly easy setup, wireless strength/ease of installation makes this a great option for even the least tech savvy/handy person. Magnet-dome mounting bracket is ingenious way to make positioning each camera easy. Picture is fantastic, especially on a smartphone. Only drawback from a 5 star rating is only one person can be logged on watching the cameras at a time. 2 working parents + 3 kids + 1 house = need for simultaneous logins. Other than that I would highly recommend this product over wired options for quick and easy setup and instant HD monitoring.

4 Camera Kit
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great product that you can change back and forth between locations without rewiring or anything of that nature. I just don't like it take 4 CR123 BATTERIES FOR EACH CAMERA! Easy Setup but if you using this as an everyday security system the batteries will get drained especially in cold weather areas. Plus 5 Cameras and you get free service is not bad considering if you don't want a wired system or a monthly subscription for run cameras. I only wish this also had audio as well and this would get 5 stars for the capabilities that it has.
