Highly recommended security system!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We bought Arlo due to the recent break-ins in our area. They were very easy to install, are wireless and has a very user friendly app for iPhones and androids. The picture is very clear and there are a lot of different settings from motion detection, continuous recording, and even geo-fencing. What we love best is it’s a one time cost for the system and no monthly fees or necessary costs. The only downfalls are the older cameras do not have sound or the rechargeable batteries. We have recommended this system to several friends and family members and they all love it just as much!

Simple installation security cameras - no wires
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I installed these cameras outdoors. Installation was very easy however only one external mount was included the other mounts are really designed for indoor use with a magnetic base (mounting hardware - screws etc are included). The scheduling feature is a bit quirky but I use the cameras like an alarm system and turn them on at night with motion activation or when I am away and turn them off in the morning via the smartphone app. The battery life is still unknown but so far after a month of use they still show a full charge and that is at the highest recording HD setting. Although these cameras are weatherproof I think they are primarily designed for indoor use. I get about 160 (15 sec clips each night) on 4 cameras each night so if an incident does occur that is a lot of time opening and viewing each clip. You cannot just watch one clip and FF like on a DVR. One other note, it appears that the cameras only record in clips from the time motion is detected. If there is continuous motion a new clip will be created not just one clip is created. The amount it records can be adjusted from 10 sec to up 120 sec however but it would definitely impact battery life with longer recordings. Overall though I would recommend this system if pulling cable would be difficult as it was in my case or if simple monitoring is required like for a baby crib it would be ideal as you can pull up live images quickly via the Arlo Smartphone app.

No wires to mess with!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great product. I chose this product after my home was burglarized because the design of my home makes it very difficult to install wired-cameras and connect them to a base without extensive effort and additional costs. My first impression of the system was that it was of high quality, because the design was aesthetically attractive and the fit and finish of parts were very fine, except for the rubberized material where the cameras connect to the magnetic base. It started to peal and rub off after very little use, but the damage will be hidden behind the cameras once they are attached to the base. The difficult part of installing the cameras was locating and positioning them in a spot that would make full use of the cameras' wide viewing area to cover every point of entry into the home. It would have been nice if Netgear had given buyers better guidance on where best to position the cameras. Another complaint that I have is the use of special batteries for the cameras instead of your normal A/AA batteries that can be found in almost every retail store. However, Netgear does say that the batteries should be able to power the cameras under normal conditions for about 6 whole months. I've had the cameras on for about 6 weeks now, and they still indicate a full charge. Other than Netgears' choice of batteries and the positioning of cameras, which I continue to change periodically due to blind spots and the triggering of motion sensors by swaying plants and insects, the entire system was very easy to setup and connect to the wireless network. All I had to do was plug the base into my router with the internet cable provided and wait for a LED light to indicate that the base was ready for connection of the cameras. Once the LED light came on, I powered the cameras by installing the special batteries that came with them and pushed a single button on top of the cameras to connect them to the base. I then downloaded the app for my iphone and followed the instructions to connect it to the sytem. And, that was all there was to the initial setup. Anyone who can read and follow basic instructions will be able to finish the system's initial setup in very little time. I have been very happy with the system's performance so far. The cameras supposedly shoot HD videos in 720p that are clear enough for security purposes, but some newer systems can shoot in full 1080p. I was also able to connect one camera facing the home from a tree in my backyard that was probably at least 150-200 feet from the base. Occasionally, the camera will indicate through the app that it had a weak connection but it remained connected to the base as long as there was power and an internet signal. I'm currently looking to add a 5th camera to the system, but the cost for an add on camera is pretty steep at more than $150 per item. Netgear allows up to 5 cameras with a basic plan, but my system came with only 4 cameras. I think 4 cameras are the most that you can currently buy in one package. I hope this information will be helpful enough to convince potential buyers sitting on the fence that it is worth the price.

Nice System but a little pricey
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. They are really great cameras. Completely wireless, powered by batteries.Very clear during the daytime, night time views are ok as long as you make sure nothing interferes with the lens, if you have the lens facing outside thru a window there will be a glare which will make your view distorted. The Cameras are a little pricey at 499.00 for 4 cameras and the batteries go dead very fast and they are about $10.00 a piece to replace. I would recommend only because of ease of use as far as cost a wired system would be a better value.

Nice little camera for home surveillance
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. What grabbed my attentionabout this camera was the fact that this was powered by batteries, and therefore, is completely wireless. It truly is. It's also somewhat weather resistant, and can be mounted outside in the weather. I have had mine mounted outside my house to monitor multiple driveway for last three month, and have not had issues related to having it in the weather. It's compact and easy to set up. This little thing captures videos in a pretty decent quality, with not-bad night vision. Now for the downside... my battery that came with the camera gave up on me a little after a month. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but our was nowhere close to what was being claimed. Another downside is that because this camera was designed to run on battery power with no other power source, it is not made to record sound with video to use as little power as possible. If you don't need sound and don't mind switching out batteries every so often, this will serve your needs.

Above Average Motion Camera
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent motion camera, meaning that it will only record once motion is detected. It doesn't record 24hrs as most hard wired camera. Camera was very easy to set up and works great. Image quality is great and so far the battery life seems as described, however this will vary upon how you've set up you're motions and recording quality. Only disadvantage is that there is a delay once motion is detected, therefore camera can fail to capture that person/object that triggered the motion. Application for iPhone/Android is great. Nigh vision is above average. I currently have 5 cameras that comes with free cloud storage.

Good cameras. Easy setup
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pros: Setup was easy and the video quality is good both day and night. For me, the included cloud storage is sufficient. Great wireless camera solution. Batteries last a long time. Cons: wireless means it runs on batteries. In this case, lithium 123 batteries which are expensive and local stores but can be purchased online at a reasonable price. There's no local storage. There is a slight lag between the camera sensing motion in the video clip being uploaded to the cloud. So, I often get a video clip with no one in it. Four, just the very back part of someone who has already passed the camera No face.

Easy Set Up!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After struggling with another brand, I gave up and decided to try these. I LOVE them...setting up was quick and easy - no problem linking cameras to base station - magnetic mounting made for easy placement and adjustment. Nighttime picture quality is just fair...but good daytime. No adjustment for sensitivity of motion detection, so it tends to alert more than necessary - but would rather more than less. Cellphone app is easy and intuitive. Easy to save video clips or photos you want to keep. Video quality is ok, no adjustments for quality, but it does the job. One tip for purchasers - even though it comes with batteries - BUY REPLACEMENTS NOW...battery life depleted quickly to 10% - one within 3 hours, one within 8 hours. I'm thinking the batteries were just old. At least I hope so! Overall I am perfectly happy and would recommend.

Great Camera, no subscription needed.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Did my research and needed a camera that was high quality with no wires, no monthly fees and great resolution! This camera is battery operated however the batteries have been in for a month and are still at 100%. And these are the regular batteries, with better quality batteries it will last much longer! It has great range, very clear and crisp, great during the night with night vision, you can disarm and arm at anytime the motion sensor, the camera has a wide view and captures a lot more than most other cameras in the market. I have only one Arlos but I'm ordering 3-more. This is a great camera and it will not disappoint you.

Would be 5 stars if it recorded sound and the
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.batteries lasted longer. Otherwise, functionality and ease of use are pretty good. Here's the pro's and con's: Pro's: good picture, no subscription, multiple cameras, completely wireless, great night vision, decent app for phone. Con's: works on CR123 batteries that lasted about 5 weeks before needing to be replaced, they don't record sound, notifies you of motion over and over as motion continues rather than once every few minutes to let the event continue, zoom could be better. All in all, it does what it advertises and is a good solution if you can't have wires.

Works well, consistently, over a month.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The setup was a cinch. The cameras mount on supplied small half-domes - one screw and you've got a mount. The magnet hold the camera firmly, yet extremely easy to pick up or re-adjust. Had to mount outdoor one very high, otherwise they're too easy to steal. Picture is good, motion sensor & notification work as promised. Batteries can get expensive but shop around, you can find them at $2-4 each. Still on original batteries after 1 month of looking at them daily.

good but has flaws
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Over good quality, super convenient due to no wires installation was very easy. The only thing is that it does not continuously record and when you set it to motion recording it doesn't start recording until approximately 6 seconds after motion detection so you do not capture immediately. When review from phone it is constantly buffering.

Batteries
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Easy to install!!, horrible battery life if you have a lot of traffic. These cameras are good for low traffic environment. I bought them to catch someone messing with my front yard. I have them facing the front of my home so they capture sidewalk traffic and street traffic. ( I love in a Cul de sac with moderate pedestrian and veg traffic) Energizer brand batteries lasted less than one month. PROS: easy to install and set up. 100%wireless. Easy to use app. Good image quality. CONS: horrible battery life. Each camera uses 4 batteries. Batteries are Expensive (CR123) The cameras start recording with plant/leaf movement caused by wind. No audio.

great video quality even in dark
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I received this item as a gift. I was pleasantly surprised at how well this works. This initial setup is super easy (although synching the cameras to the base does take a little bit of time). Once setup you have a variety of options on how to schedule each camera (that's not so easy) but once you figure it out...it's ok. cameras mount really easy to strong magnetic bases. great recording angles, HD picture quality and even records in very low light. They should probably remove the little red light that lights up and says "hey this camera is recording you" **big negative - battery life for each camera is pretty much zero. If the camera gets a lot of activity... you're pretty much done in no time and have to get new batteries again and again...and again...

Decent wireless camera with MAJOR defect!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally purchased my Arlo set in February of 2015 and even encouraged family members and friends to buy the system. Unfortunately, some time later one of the two camera began displaying a RED tint when viewing day light images/video. This is happening to my family and friends as well. This issue is well known by the Netgear Arlo staff and their solution is for you to pay to ship it back in hopes that the next one doesn’t do it as well. Considering that the issue is as widespread as it is, you’d think that the company might warranty the items and pay for the shipping. It’s not as if this is happening to one or two cameras. It’s happening to a great deal of them. It really is a shame, because other than the red tint and the fact that the cameras can chew up some expensive batteries with regular use, the system is great. I have provided a link to the Netgear Arlo support forum in order to help those with the issue and to give advance notice to any future costumers. You’ll clearly see, that this is not a small issue. It doesn’t seem to be a matter if it’s going to happen to all the cameras, but more like when. https://community.netgear.com/t5/Troubleshooting/Picture-turns-red/td-p/812

Great Security Camera for Certain Applications
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Arlo camera system has turned out to be perfect for my needs. It would not be ideal for everyone so let me explain why. The cameras are completely wireless and are battery operated (and weatherproof) so they can be placed anywhere without adding power lines. If you want to constantly record video throughout the day, it would probably drain the batteries in a relatively short period of time. I think this system is best for someone who wants to record potential intruders that occur infrequently. With infrequent recording the batteries appear to last quite a while in the cameras. The system also excels in how it can be configured for different applications, how it stores video, and how it can notify you of potential intruders. In addition to activating recording only when motion is detected, the system allows you set up daily schedules for when it will detect motion and what it will do when it detects motion. It can notify you immediately when motion is detected on your smart phone through an app and then show the video it recorded and saved. The videos are saved at no additional charge for 1 week on a cloud based server. If you are in bed and someone walks in front of an activated camera near your front or back door, you can receive an alert on your smart phone and can immediately view the video it recorded on your smart phone. This can give you peace of mind knowing that it will alert you before someone enters your house. You can also receive the alerts from any location where you have service on your phone, computer, or iPad. To use all these features you must have good internet connection speed at the location of the cameras and a router port (ethernet connection) for connecting to the Arlo base station. The cameras seem to work best when they are within 50 feet of the base station. They will work at further distances but might drain the batteries faster. I decided to add a wifi extender from Netgear with an ethernet port connection to move the Arlo base station closer to where the cameras would be located. Wifi extenders are easy to install and will improve your wifi signal for other devices as well. A nice feature is that you can receive alerts when traveling out of town from this system. If you are the type that may worry when away from home or out of town, this system will give you peace of mind. Occasionally, a bird may trigger the alert, but you can verify that by simply looking at the recorded video. You can also adjust detection and recording parameters while traveling away from home. This system was not the least expensive option available, but it was the best solution for our particular application.

Great security for an even better price
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great wireless security cameras from Netgear. The Arlo video quality is excellent. Very easy to set up with your home network as well as mounting on the walls. I purchased 2 stands which i use for shelves in the interior of the house. The stands are great as you have more wiggle room to set an angle as opposed to just putting the camera on the shelf. The online interface is a little confusing at first but once you start playing with it you'll see how to set up rules and turn on only exterior camera's while keeping interior ones off. One thing i noticed that battery life goes pretty fast on high trafficked areas. I've lowered my sensitivity settings to 80% and record time to 30 seconds instead of 45 seconds. The iPhone app is great but i highly suggest shutting off email notifications. With this 4 pack you have 7 days of cloud storage which is fine as I delete video daily. Also the package is free up to 5 camera's. 6 camera's is $99 a year service and that gives you 30 days of cloud, better tech support and the ability to have 6+ Camera's. Been looking for home video security for some time and friends and others have had the Arlo and I can see why. Great quality, great price and great features to protect your home/office! Overall a great purchase!

Excellent quality camera, easy to install
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After pricing wired systems and realizing the difficulty in the installation, it was an easy choice to pick the Arlo system. The base is attached with a single screw, then the camera attaches with a strong magnet. They connect via WIFI, I can access the cameras live on my phone, tablet, and computer. These all are recorded and can be downloaded to keep if needed. I also get an email each time there is activity. There are only two negative points: 1. It is almost impossible to set the cameras so they pick up motion where you want them to and record what you want to see. I have been adjusting them for weeks and I still don't have them exactly where I want them. 2. The downside to these not having to be wired is that they run on long-lasting batteries, which are expensive to replace. I have had the cameras up and running for over a month, and battery life looks to be about 75% full, so the batteries should last about 4+ months, but when it comes time to replace them, it will be pricey. Overall, I would not hesitate to recommend these cameras to anyone, especially if you don't want to spend a lot of money on installation.

Excellent cameras and functionality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Cameras and functionality work as advertised. Easy setup and easy to use from the phone app and browser. Once the sensitivity for motion detection was adjusted, they only triggered when someone was actually moving in front of the cameras. I have three cameras outside and one in the garage. Outside of basic security they are also very handy to let me know when a package was delivered and where it was left, or if I remembered to close the garage door. I am having my kitchen remodeled and it also comes in handy to know when the contractors come in the morning and when they leave at the end of the day. Battery life has been excellent because they only get triggered on the schedule I have set up and only when someone triggers them. As I mentioned, I've adjusted the sensitivity to eliminate leaves blowing or any other every day effect from falsely triggering the cameras. They will trigger if a bee or bird moves into the picture but that is to be expected. The picture at 720P is crisp and you can easily make out people. I have it set to record for thirty seconds when motion is detected which I have found to be the perfect length. People who complain about battery life just aren't setting them up correctly or have unreasonable expectations for these types of cameras as they are not meant to be recording very often. All in all very satisfied with my purchase.
