    Outstanding Modem/Router Combo!

If you are looking for a modem to replace a leased one from Time Warner, look no further! The NETGEAR Nighthawk AC1600 WiFi Cable Modem Router (C6250) is superior to the rental modem from Time Warner and is extremely easy to setup. Plus it comes with a built in Nighthawk router that is exceptional. Setting up this device was a snap. Once the modem was registered with Time Warner, it was ready to be connected to the internet. The C6250 is capable of being set it up in a simple configuration but also contains the features to accommodate a more complex setup. If you are the type of person who is looking for the “easy button”, you can connect to the device using the built in “Push ‘N’ Connect (WPS) security setup. However, the user interface to configure the router is very user friendly and the menus are in logical order making the setup process a breeze. This DOCSIS 3.0 modem/router combo comes with a number of neat features like the ability to setup a guest network (so you don’t have to give out your password) and the ability to disable the network activity with the push of a button when it is not in use. It also comes with an app (Netgear Genie App), which allows you to monitor and manage your network from a mobile device (iPhone, iPad, Android) or a PC/Mac. The C6250 is extremely powerful and successfully sends the WiFi signal throughout both stories of my 2,600+ square foot home. The WiFi signal is equal to, if not greater than, the output I got from my previous standalone WiFi router. My current internet plan is for 100 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up and I am able to capture these speeds on both wired and WiFi connections. I typically get a little faster download speeds when utilizing the 5GHz band compared to the 2.4GHz band. However, the slower 2.4GHz band speeds can likely be contributed to the number of devices I have utilizing this band. With the simultaneous dual band output of this device, you can connect using either. One of the neatest features of this device is the USB connection. The USB connection gives you the ability to connect an external hard drive and access it from any device on the network. I think it is really cool to have a local storage device on the network without being required to carry it around with your laptop and or having to pay for an expensive NAS device. I think that this modem/router combo was intended to either be used primarily as a WiFi router or in conjunction with a switch as it only provides 2 hardwired Ethernet, gigabit connections. I currently use a switch to accommodate my multiple wired connections for the upstairs devices and leverage the strong WiFi signal for my downstairs devices. Since the WiFi signal travels so far, I haven’t even noticed it. If you are looking for a solid modem/router combo to provide a solid signal throughout a large area, I would strongly recommend the C6250 as it provides rapid speeds with excellent coverage. I received the C6250 for free as part of NETGEAR’s First Look Review Program.

Coverage would not be strong for 600 sq.ft. apartment. Room with this modem would have good coverage and other rooms would have a slow connection. Other Netgear router which I used in past were better than this one.

I have the old one Netgear N300, model #C3000, sometimes feel the download speed not good enough. Spectrum technician told me better to have dual band router. But feel the speed of this new router still work the same.

Zero stars. Do not buy. Made the mistake of thinking it might be better to get a cable modem and router in one, especially made the mistake of getting this Netgear C6250 pure garbage of a product. Wasted two hours of time, one hour with Xfinity tech support doing resets, then another hour with Netgear support with a tech support agent who had a noisy child and family in the background, finally for the agent to conclude after three reset attempts that this device is defective. Brand new out of a sealed box. Issue was a molasses slow download speed, this wasn’t an issue with the previous setup of a different (separate) modem and separate wifi router. Another issue was the 5Ghz SSID would not show despite checking broadcast settings being ON. Never touching a Netgear product again.

It seems to work okay. The range doesn't seem to be a problem, but I do not have full bars even when close. My internet cuts out pretty regularly but then comes back. I am not sure if it is the router or my internet.

Got this cable modem thinking it would replace the Xfinity modem that has telephone jacks. This one doesn't - took it back. May work for people that don't use the Xfinity phone.

I order this online and the salesman told me it would replace my DSL modem. I told him we did not have cable internet...he assured it would work anyway. It's probably a great CABLE modem...NOT a DSL modem.

It turned out to be something I didn't need, according to Geek Squad Double Agent Matthew Jorgensen. He suggested a couple eero routers, plus a couple Echo Dots for a home smart system. Kudos go out to Mr. Jorgensen for his expertise in purchase advice and setting up the system on Dec. 27. I did return the Netgear Dual-Band Router-Cable Modem to the store in Maple Grove the day I shopped for the gear that Matthew suggested. I'm really enjoying the smart system.

It works great in our family room however upstairs the signal is super weak. I like that we dont have to pay the 10 dollars to comcast however we wish the signal was stronger. Our house is only 1700 sq ft.
