    Built to fail..........

I've had my router for 3 years, has performed well. Although maybe not that great....It's dying now so I wouldn't be able to give it a good review. Do they build these things to break down at a specific time? I had a Arris previously and it seemed like it broke down also around 2 or 3 years later. Must be a reason none last that long....

Slower Wifi than Arris, Even Slower Ethernet(16Mb)

I bought this after seeing the price online was $100 less than the in-store price. The reviews I initially read sounded promising and "I've always had good luck with Netgear routers in the past..knock on wood", were my exact words to my fiancé as I actually made sure to knock on my hardwood floor. Well, that was not the case here. I only received 70Mbps Downstream and 6Mbps Upstream,on wifi, with my 100Mbps plan with Time Warner, but they've been throttling everyone down in my area anyway(it's been rumored they need to send a new satellite up into space(due to problems they can't fix with their current satellite and don't want to make the investment..YET..class-action lawsuit currently happening) and their Arris Modem/Wifi Router was about the same speed. The real shocker came when my PC, with a wired ethernet connection directly to the router only got a maximum of 16Mbps Down and about 2-3Mbps Up. I tried a different ethernet cable and the other of the two ethernet ports on the back and still got the same slow speed. I came back on here to search the reviews, sorted by lowest rating, and was disappointed to see many people having gone through 2 or 3 tries of purchasing this device with them being duds every time. I'll be returning or exchanging it tomorrow but just wanted to be sure to warn others to stay away. I come from an IT background and it's not worth it. Don't assume it's you because there's some trick to it. There's not. Right on the bottom of the brand new box, in fine print, it pretty much states it's made from recycled components(refurbished is how I read that or not far from it). "This product has been tested for quality assurance and it or its components may have been recycled". Check the box yourself in the store and you'll read the same. It's quite apparent they haven't tested it or else it would work properly. I hope this review was helpful and saves some people from the trouble.

    Netgear support sucks

    Posted .

I'm not sure if others are having the issue but I am not getting the advertised speed of 300 mbps. I had my ISP (Xfinity) do a line test, resend the provisioning file and they're saying that it's the modem/router's problem. I opened a ticket with Netgear support and that's when I found out how terrible their support system is. The first time I called, I had to call back TWICE because no one answered after being on hold for 45 minutes. I tried a third time and this time, I was transferred twice before being placed on hold for another 45 minutes then the rep just hanged up on me! If you're thinking about getting this product, don't! Save yourself some headache.

Easy set up but really doesn't work

This set up so easily! I was so thrilled to be up and running. But since then, it flakes constantly, sometimes 10 or 12 times in the space of an hour. It is nice that I can reboot it from my phone, but when I have to reboot it so many times, it gets old.

    Do Not Buy Netgear!

Netgear support sucks! I would not reccomend this or anyother Netgear product. I used to love their products and support, but they have gone way down hill. My router resets every time I power cycle it. I have had to re-program it 5 or more times in the past 3 months. In order to get support you have to jump through hoops and answer a bunch of irrelevant questions. I'll use this one as long as I can stand it, then I'm going to use my 12 gauge on it so I can get some satisfaction.

    Constant loss of Wifi

I lose internet access constantly and have to keep rebooting the modem (very annoying) I even had Cox out today to check and they said everything is good on their end. It seems most people have no trouble with this but I am taking mine back to the store today and will have to purchase something different.

We bought this in late February early March and by late April we were have issues with the 2.4 GHz only getting about 20 mbps and the 5 ghz was getting an unstable 70 mbps and it took Netgear forever to get back to me to try and fix the issues so I have up after 2 weeks.
