Remote doesn't work.

Setup was painful due to a poorly performing remote. Probably would have been ok if the buttons worked reliably. Hulu streamed fine once I got it going, but navigating the menus was painful as I tried various positions and angles to try and get the unit to respond to the remote. New batteries did not remedy the problem. I will return this tomorrow.

Couldn't get past the setup screen...

Bought this today at my local Best Buy. I planned on connecting it to my WiFi network to watch NetFlix and Sling. I started going through the setup screen and it asked me to update the software which I did. After the update it couldn't connect to my WiFi network or wired ethernet network. I spent an hour on the phone with Netgear tech support and they told me to go exchange it.
I googled the error I was getting which was "Server Error Unable to perform update at this time" and there are a number of posts on message boards from users with the same problem. Seems to be a well known problem and for some reason Netgear doesn't want to deal with it. Don't buy this product unless you want to wasted a few hours of your time only to return it.

This software in product is very poorly written. From my out of box experience, as I went thru the guided steps to setup the box, it asked for a firmware upgrade, and I went ahead and did it. The box just froze on the warning not to unplug power screen forever! After 1 hr, I finally decided to take the risk to unplug, and luckily it came back alive, but I have to go thru the same setup again! And the firmware was not even upgraded so I had to do that AGAIN too!
Then, every time I press the menu key on the remote, the box will reboot. And I tried to check some of the apps, I went in to the Intel one and it just froze there too.
And every time I reboot, it will tell me network connection lost so I have to reset it up again.
This is a junk. Period.

I had purchased this to be used as a media streamer during a tradeshow event because the one I had died. The out of box setup experience was nothing short of a nightmare. By default you can't skip the quick setup section. The device fails to connect to two different wireless hotspot and you can't skip it UNTIL YOU ARE CONNECTED. You can't use the keyboard to enter your network information. Even when managed to connect to internet, you can't skip the check for update section and device will not let you proceed until it has downloaded the new firmware. I wouldn't know how rest of the features worked because the device never finished updating the firware....after sitting at the update screen for close to an hour with no indication of progress (yes, there's no progress bar to indicate statue of update, seriously Netgear?). You're better off paying the$30 extra and get the WD TV Live....I know I will be doing that shortly.

This is not a good product, waste of $69.99 plus tax. It should be able to hook up more easily, should definitely be able to stream wirelessly, that was the whole purpose in buying it. Very dissappointed in this purchase, if I could return it, I would but I bought it during the Christmas season, and did not hook it up until a month later due to time constraints, otherwise it would have went straight back to the Best Buy where I purchased it. I wanted to use it for my bedroom television but there is no wired router upstairs, only down. This is not a good product.

Purchashed to have the ability to stream netflix. Majority of time it works but sometimes does not. Seems wifi signal is not very strong so consider distance from wifi router when purchasing.

We bought this streaming player as it was the middle of the road priced. In retrospect we should have purchased a higher priced one. We should have checked the reviews first. This one sold us because our focus is Netflix but it buffers too often.

This device was terrible. It would constantly freeze up trying to stream, kept dropping signal when no other devices have trouble (20 feet from the router). I took it back and bought a Roku, best decision I've ever made. I wouldn't take one of these if it was free.

I returned this item after putting it through the paces. Mostly, it doesn"t work. Trying to get through the menu to the programming is tedious.
It insists that you check for the latest updates. It finds one, and proceeds for hours trying to install it. Just DON'T BOTHER.

no browser, no IOS apps, no Google play apps, 99% of features are to sell you services to connect to view content. Really poor concept
