I am on cable with 25 - 32 Mbps connection speeds. The very best I have been able to get with Two (2) of these is 2.2Mbps but usually only 1.5ish and that is WIRED not wireless. However it is the exact same speeds on wireless N also. It is Sluggish, I have had to unplug it many times because it just locks up and becomes totally unresponsive. Maybe because after waiting for a couple minutes for it to do the last command I gave it I try to turn it off or go to menu or give it another command in the hopes it will Actually do something............ It is extremely aggravating. I have suspended it mid air so there are no problems with heat (it gets very hot on the bottom if setting on something). Other times we will be watching Netflix and it will start to stutter ( play/pause play/pause play/pause etc forever I guess. Time to unplug it, Again.
I sent in a ticket to support, they emailed me that it would be best to do this via a phone call. I called support which took 5 - 7 minutes to get a real person, however the gent was on Mars I think because it sounded so extremely distant and underwater that I have NO idea what was said. Add to that his first, second or third language was NOT english.
I have had Netgear routers and do to this day and have had great results with them as well as support but this has been extremely frustrating to the nth degree.
I gave it 2 stars for it's potential to be great

I was looking for something to stream Netflix and I didn't want to buy a gaming system to do it. That being said, its ok. Like others have said, the remote sucks. Its awkward to use and you're never really sure if the button you pressed registered or not until your screen changes 5 minutes later. Netflix will hiccup from time to time but its easy enough that my 7 year old can navigate it. Very easy to hook up and I had no problems with passwords. If you're looking for middle of the road than this is the product for you.

Got the unit for the bedroom. Quickly found some issues with it. First, The Neo TV remote App for iPhone was a really good idea, but it rarely works. REALLY NEED TO FIX THAT NETGEAR!!! ARE YOU LISTENING?!?! It doesn't turn itself off after hours of inactivity and nothing streaming (Ex- when you fall asleep watching TV, you'll wake up to a still-screen, erroneous waste of electricity). BUT, it does what it says it will do: stream netflix and hulu plus. Just wish it had a few more bells and whistles.

After 90 days, you have to pay a "nominal fee" for telephone support for your device. During the first setup, I accidentally entered the wrong password for my wireless router. Instead of telling me that it was wrong and letting me retry, the box kept trying for a full month. Your first thought when something like this happens: Turn it off, then back on. Didn't work. Turned it off for five minutes. Turned it back on. Same screen. Plugged it into a different TV in a different room. Same screen. We finally found the reset button and went through the installation process a second time. Great picture quality for the 6 months my TV continued to work.
Now I've moved to a different city and the remote doesn't work. I can't get help from anyone with Technical Support. Screw this product. The tech support was awful. This product is awful. Go Roku.

Looks attractive due to price right? Don't do it!
1. Device is SLOW. Constantly freezes requiring you to unplug and plug it back in.
2. DNLA playback is a useless function even after firmware updates.
3. Remote is disgusting due to the ridiculous directional select button. Trying to move through the interface icons is using this button is an experience similar to chewing aluminum foil.
I replaced this device with:

I bought this from Best Buy as a gift for the holidays. It stopped working 4 months later in April. Nothing but a black screen would come up no matter what was tried. The person I gave it to had not registered it when received, so I tried to register it so I could get it repaired under warranty. However I couldn't even use/access chat or customer support because netgear keeps saying I have entered an invalid serial number even though I typed in correctly at least a half a dozen times. I couldn't even continue with the process of contacting somebody without entering the serial number that the website continually rejected.
Guess I'm stuck with an expensive paperweight + will still have to buy something else to replace it. How embarrassing to give a gift that lasts 4 short months and then can't even be serviced for repair because it's not possible to contact the company that made it!
It looked like this media player would be easier to set up, access and learn for a less tech-savvy person than some other devices and it was, but unfortunately that is of little use when it dies after such a short time. On top of that, can't even contact netgear to have it fixed since their stupid site rejects their own serial number which is required to start the support process!
Wasted my time and my money and most of all, feel horrible since it was a gift to begin with. I will be ordering a Roku or something else that actually works and just helping with the set-up over the phone. Wish I had read all of the other reviews before buying this piece of junk.
With the incredibly bad customer support experience on the manufacturer website, will also be avoiding all other netgear products from now on. . Do yourself a favor and spend a little more and buy something worth having from a company that will stand behind it's products.

Replaced a Roku that was 5 years old and worked great.
This unit took several hrs to finally set up. Locks up constantly which messes up audio sync. Required reboot of everything just a pain.
Very slow and remote buttons work poorly.
This unit is going back. I have Netgear for routers and thought this product would be as reliable..NOT
Will go back to a Roku streamer.

This has been nothing but a problem. I always need to reset the connection, after the first update I had to wrestle with it to get it to work again and today when I turned it on at 5:30 pm it said it needed to update again. It's now 11:00 and it still hasn't completed the download and I have Verizon Fios with the fastest connection available. Don't buy, get, a blue ray player or play station if you want to watch NetFlix with no issues.

I planned to switch from ROKU to this streaming player (NTV300) as ROKU is not supporting YouTube & YuppTV (Some of the apps I use).
But this product is worst streaming player I have ever seen.
This product is useless!
I can't set video resolution to 1080P
The software is extremely slow and the remote is not instant.
When I pressed pause on the remote it took 5 minutes for it to pause...the box would constantly reset itself...not worth $55! Very disappointing buy.
ROKU is 2000% better in performance & quality. ONLY -ve about ROKU is it doesn't support YouTube & YuppTV
DO NOT BUY!

I got this player because I could not afford the Blu-ray player I wanted. It often runs hot, freezes, and does not stream Netflix or Hulu Plus MOVIES. Short stuff it does well, but the main thing, movies, it fails badly. It adds apps often, and has DLNA stuff, but poor performance on Netflix and Hulu Plus takes it away for me. It is past 30 days, or i would return it. i would have gotten the Roku player, but it does not have You tube.

Bought this for a movie buff family member. He's tech challenged, but had little trouble learning to use the NeoTV to watch movies on Hulu+ and Netflix. Figured out Pandora on his own. Controls seem pretty intuitive.

I have always just wired my devices directly into a flatscreen hdtv until recently. this was on sale for less than forty bucks so i picked up one as a gift for my mother. she is older and tech is difficult for her to grasp. the netgear device is simple to get up and going and as for use that couldn't be easier either. my mother who is who still cannot play a dvd/bray disc without assistance was able to search through netflix offerings, add to her list and play movies on day one. i think part of that, being so easy for her to use is not only the intuitive design of the remote but also the logical way the screen is setup. we get 1080P all the time and never once get a "buffering" just plays perfectly. if you are going to go wireless this is a great way to start out. fyi if you have a kid off to college you can give it to them you have a netflix account and they log in select their profile and the whole family benefits paying for just the one plan.

I purchased this yesterday with skepticism after reading the reviews. It works just fine. I hooked up the device, did an upgrade on it and watched shows all night! for the comments that said it keeps getting frozen or keeps rebuffering, you may need to bump up your internet speed, it happened to me when I was trying to stream on my PS3. Once I got more MBPs for my internet, never had a problem again. It's working great

Nice budget oriented internet TV device

I initially purchased this device for use on a TV I have in the garage. I ended up taking the device back because the remote buttons were just to awkward. Other than that, I liked the device - it was surprisingly fast with Wi-Fi and the quality of the electronic device and the user interface was excellent for the price paid.
I would recommend the device if you are looking for a budget-oriented internet TV device. If you have another $50 to spend, I'd recommend the Apple TV instead. The remote for that device is much less frustrating.

I already had a non-wifi blu ray. Wanted to be able to get Netflix in my bedroom. This product was the cheapest & best answer.
Granted, my home is large & the wifi is coming from a netgear wifi extender, but upload is pretty quick. Don't take me wrong, it is not lightning quick, but it shouldn't be under the circumstances. I am now thinking of adding more of them to any tv that doesn't have a component that is nit wifi capable. That means 2 more for me.
This is my first review, EVER! I am totally satisfied.
