Customers are saying

Customers praise the Nighthawk AC1900 Wi-Fi Router with VDSL/ADSL Modem for its ease of use, strong performance, and wide range. Many appreciate the quick and easy setup process and reliable Wi-Fi signal, resulting in excellent coverage throughout their homes. However, some customers find the router's size to be a drawback, and a few mention that the price point is relatively high. The strong performance and broad coverage generally outweigh these concerns for most users.

    Drops WiFi Connections Constantly

This unit has a firmware issue that makes you have to constantly reset the modem and reconnect your devices to the WiFi. No firmware update is available at this point to fix the issue. I will definitely be returning this unit. Come on Netgear, I was expecting so much more out of a $250.00 modem /router combo.

worked amazing fast for 1 day, the second day, nothing but problems, reset after reset to no avail, tried to get support from netgear, nothing cannot get support until you register, i tried to register and it defaults to the serial number has been registered already, I checked my registered products at netgear.com, and it states i have no registered products, box was never opened...cannot get support from netgear even to correct the serial number issue.returning it asap. customer service with netgear is worthless.thankfully I purchase at best buy and not on amazon, already angry that it does not work and than having to deal with mailing it back to amazon. how angry would you be?

I had a cisco E1200 router and wanted to up grade. On store advice was told the night gear nighthawk ac 1900 was a good choice and was plug and play. I followed install instructions but had no luck. I called geek squad and agent came right over. He messed with it for an hour and a half and finally got it running. It works fine but shouldn't be sold to non tech people. as I said it took geek squad one and a half hours to get running and install cost was $160.49, about what the router cost.

Geek Squad was terrible and more harm then good. I was unable to access the manufacturer's help desk due to purchasing Geek Squad with unit. What a mistake Although the range is impressive and the extender works well the unit keeps disconnecting and requires resetting. I was unable to get a 2nd Ethernet connection made to the back plane as it causes the WiFi to disconnect.

    PICE OF JUNK

The DSL light goes off and on. Talked to Netgear and was told to return it. Got the second one and had the same issue. Returned and got a third one decided to call geek squad and they said I needed a code that should have came with the box. I could not find the code and they told me to call the store and they could help. The store told me that the code is in the box but I could not find it. Then they said Must have not gotten it with geek squad help. One thing that confuses me is that if the code is inside the box then it should be in all boxes unless at the check out they use magical powers to put one in. This was the worst experience I have had buying something for $250 and it not work. Then Best Buy does not want to help when there is an issue. I thought with geek squad they would stand by the products that they sell but I was wrong. On my way now to return the last product I will ever buy from Worst Buy(AKA Best BUY). Thanks have a good day.

This modem/router has a ton of features and looks really cool, but it crashed at least once a day. By crashed, I mean it froze up completely and would not allow access from any attached device. After a power cycle, it would work again. I searched the manufacturer support forums and found several people with the same problem. There were a lot of suggested fixes and none of them worked. I had to return it and get another modem/router. Best Buy was great about it and their service was fantastic!

BestBuy wouldn't return; won't shop BestBuy again

We got this to extend our range. This modem/router was not able to connect to the DSL line after many hours of frustration. We had our internet provider technician come out to the house, and after a couple of hours, the at&t tech still could not get this router/modem to recognize the DSL line, either. We plugged out old modem/router back in and set out to return this. We live in a rural area, and the closest Best Buy is an hour away. When we were able to get back to the city to return the new router to Best Buy 25 days later, we were past their unreasonably short return policy. The manager was unmoving on the return policy. We will not be going back to Best Buy in the future. We are now out $250 for junk. VERY frustrated.

Awful, but not as bad as their customer service

I was told in the store this was the go-to router for ADSL speed and reliability. Nope, not this piece of junk. Stalls almost daily and needs manual rebooting to restore network and internet access. 5G is non-existent unless you're in the same room as the router, and speed overall is slower than my previous cable modem. (I'm regretting my "upgrade" to fiber optic internet.) Service and support are outsourced to India and unintelligible, rude, and after 3 weeks have concluded I have a defective unit and want me to pay shipping to return the unit for exchange. I'm thinking no way and now looking for a different brand.

I purchased this to boost the internet signal in our house. The 1900 is almost impossible to set up. I called the geegsquad and was hung on. After 3and a half hours I finally got the internet to work, then I tried to make the extender work... unable to I called the geegsquad again, this time I was told that I would have to log in on the internet to get someone to help me, when I tried to log in, the internet no longer worked. This may be a great product but the customer service is very very poor. I returned it for my money back and purchased something else at Costco.

This modem/router was working just fine for about a week; after that it started freezing i.e. you can't connect to it even thru Ethernet port. Tried it both configurations --as DSL modem and Router and only as Router --no luck. Upgrading to the latest firmware didn't help. Found tons of people online having exactly the same problem. I didn't expect such bs from Netgear for such expensive modem/router !

This product is really bad! We have not had three of them (each one works for a short time and then dies. Netgear support is even worse. NOTE: that if you need support after 90 days it costs you $40.00 EACH TIME. This is one of the most frustrating things we have ever owned. REALLY BAD PRODUCT - RUN to any other brand!

Worse performance and terrible upload speed

This modem suffers from terrible bufferbloat. This means when you try to upload anything to the cloud, the rest of the people on the internet connection will have their downloads stop immediately until the upload is complete. WiFi performance of this router is also not that good. Don't really get any increase in performance vs. my old wireless N router. (and yes, my devices are AC capable.)

I had connection problems with the first modem and NetGear sent a replacement. Still having the same issues with the replacement. I have had to call technician support a total of 9 times and STILL having issues. Very disappointed.

Nearly 2 years old and just stopped working. Netgear wanted to sell me a "plan" of course but not interested in customer support or refund unless I came up with cash. $250 for this? I don't think so.....
