Bought two days ago. It has a triple core CPU but only uses 2 cores. It takes for ever to go to each screen when trying to set up very slow. Weak signal compared to our old Linksys router. It keeps dropping internet connection even for wired devices. The only fix it to restart the router. Completely unacceptable. Save yourself the time and hassle of this product and pick something else.

This router did me great for 3 years. We have a heavy gaming household so I don't know if it overheated at somepoint or fell and I didn't get told. The DLSS server in the router did go bad but happened 3 years after I had gotten it. Great router, upgraded after it broke for like $100 with the Geek Squad protection plan. I got Full instore credit for what i paid 3 years prior, and just got the next model for $100 more.

I purchased the XR1000 gaming router to replace the puma chipset router provided by Spectrum. The router is connected to my Netgear CM1000 modem. I have the 400/20 bandwidth plan with Spectrum. I actually get around 450/23. The Wifi 6 works great, providing a strong and reliable signal to multiple devices within my small sized apartment. I have a LG OLED smart TV and XBOX Series X hard-wired to the router. The performance of the router, both WiFi and hard-wired is amazing. Streaming Netflix or on-line gaming has never been better. As for the gaming, the included Duma OS 3.0 software is wonderful. Apps do sometimes load slow, so be patient. You can optimize and allocate your bandwidth for live streaming and cloud gaming. There are tools designed to help you only play on the highest performing gamer servers, while filtering out the rest. Options go on and on. Duma OS is easy to use with very helpful instructions as you go. I had a few bumps and questions that were quickly resolved by checking in on the Netgear community site. I am very happy with the Netgear products. Works great for all around use as a router, but if your main focus is on gaming, this is a must have.

Works great and the setup was easy with the app. I use this router for over 10 device and I haven’t had any issues with connectivity or speed Ron the router side. The added protections that are part of the router are nice for that extra security.

I've been using this for about 6 months, after I had fiber installed at my house. Ridiculously fast wifi speeds compared to my old router, regularly get 400+ mbps download and upload. I can be streaming from 6 devices with zero drop in speed and no issues. Range is pretty decent, speed drops the further you get away from it. I haven't setup all the nifty features in it for gaming and streaming, I just wanted something fast. I will say that if you are going to do port forwarding for hosting game servers, I could not get this sorted out even with a family member who works for Netgear. I think this is because of the security measures that Netgear uses for this particular router.

I purchased this particular router to replace my aging one as I have faster speeds now and numerous devices as well as some serious onliine gaming with my self and 3 other gamers in the house. This router handles it all with ease. The interface is NetDumaOS and is a massive step up from the original Netgear interface and dare I say on par with better navigation than DDWRT, (if you know, you know) Set-up was a breeze with the Netgear app and everything has worked as it should. Only hiccup I had was a remote management issue, but it may have been user error. I love this router and if you game and have many devices, you will love it too.

I live in a two bedroom two bathroom apartment and I couldn’t believe there were dead zones. All I wanted to do was poop in peace, but I would have to wave my phone around hoping for some connection to buffer the rest of my video. The risk of dropping my phone in the toilet was too high, and therefore I took it upon myself to summon this mothership and save my YouTube viewing experience. The range is incredible and the built in security and VPN makes browsing safe and secure for those times you need to…bank…and stuff… so yeah, do it. Buy it. You’re welcome. Okay bye.

Good Overpriced Router With Decent WiFi

Is this a good router? Yes. Does it perform the way it advertises? Mostly. Setting up the AX5400 was breeze and I was up and running within 15 minutes. Initial Ethernet speeds were great without any tweaking. WiFi setup was basic, very basic. No instruction how to combine the two separate WiFi channels - 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz into one seamless channel. Because of this, and other minor flaws is why this router doesn't get a perfect rating from me. For example, once the initial setup is complete, if there's a need to go into AX5400 console and change any settings such as changing the wireless band rate from 600 Mbps to 4800 Mbps, it's not so easy to find, no intuitive. Unless your IT person or fluent in networking, whatever the default settings are... they are! Which is my next gripe. The further you get away from router, the drop off rate for the wireless is drastic. For it being the "next generation" of WiFi, it sure doesn't perform like it. At close range - within 50 yards - it's outstanding. However, when you start moving beyond that magic line... watch out. All in all? It's a solid router with a few kinks and way overpriced for what little advancements it offers.

Great Router! At first I tried to set it up with a xfinity gateway but gave me problems.I went out and purchased a stand alone modem and it worked great with no issues. I live in a 3 bedroom home and have the router in the basement.I get pretty good range and speeds through out the whole house. Has all the bells and whistles you need if you a serious gamer. But the dumaos is a tad bit slow.

I mated this with a netgear cm2050 wireless router. My wifi speeds on my laptop peak around 900mb and i get between 500-700mb on my cell phone wifi signal. Ive got 37 devices connected to my network and this router is piping all of the internet in our home wonderfully.

This router definitely makes a difference when it comes to FPS. Will reduce your ping to as low as possible! Setup can be a bit of a challenge because the duma os software acts weird sometimes but once you get it working its amazing!

I would give this alien that sits on my desk a 10 because it works fabulously 98% of the time. We have had it for about a year and twice it factory reset itself and left our home unprotected Not cool! That is why it got a 4. For the price of this it should NOT do that. The app isnt very good either. I do like that I can view it from anywhere, even in another state.

Fast speeds and good coverage for my four story townhouse. At the top level, I have added a Netgear Extender which I can plug home office devices into directly via ethernet cable. The third band allows for a dedicated connection between the extender and router which has kept speeds fast for other devices in my house that are not on the extender network. That said, it does take a while to startup and has randoly randomly twice (I believe when it's automatically updating the firmware). On one occasion it just stopped broadcasting the SSID and did not allow a physical connection via ethernet cable, so I had to factory reset and recreate the SSID. It has worked fine since. Aside from those hiccups, the interface is very user friendly and has a lot of useful features, like setting up and recording regular speed tests and device management so you can see what devices are connecting to the network and using more bandwidth.
