My son talked me into this router, paired with a 1.4GB modem, back story is the Auris gateways are real bad and within a month you see poor WiFi. Now to the positive of running this nighthawk router with the modem is by far the best decision I made. The set up took me 30min. The genie Software is extremely nice and gives dad administrative control over every device in the house, my sons were disappointed, said to much power for 1 person . One thing that may put some buyers off is the price, this isn’t the cheapest route to go, I was told by the Best Buy associate, you won’t find a dead spot once this is installed properly. Speedtest: DL300 UL25 I did hit 340 twice and 31 also / I’m paying for 300 / 20 .. hope this helps / I also purchased the geek squad program for help , I didn’t call anyone but Best Buy, they made this purchase painless

Purchased this alongside the Arris SB8200 to replace our outdated cable modem/router Netgear N600. The RAX80 has an easy setup and handles our 1Gb/s download speed from Xfinity well. We have this setup in a medium/large house and I get signal everywhere including outside. I bought this on sale for $299, not sure it is worth $399 normal price unless you need greater than 2Gb/s speeds.

This is a nice well design machine, Great router easy set up, long range on the 2g of course 5G is shorter on range but faster, make sure to download your Nighthawk App and you enjoy the experience on a very easy and smart way. kudos to Netgear for this product , is way better that my old not so old Linksys AC4000.

I was a little hesitant to purchase this router after reading some of the reviews and visiting the Netgear forums and seeing some of the complaints. But, I decided to go ahead and get the router ( I added the 4 year insurance in case something goes bad ) and I have been nothing but happy with it’s performance. My Appletv, IPhone 11, Ipadpro and all my electronic that rely on internet are much snappier, not to mention that my download and upload speed have increase. I’m aware that lots of users are having problems with this router, but also remember, that lots of people are also not having problems with the router and you will see very few people of the latter come and give a positive, while you will see almost all the people who have had bad experience come in an give a bad review. I’ll keep updating my review to give anyone trying to huy

This really pairs well with the Nighthawk Modem. It took about 45 minutes to set everything up. It's super sleek looking and you can manage every device attached from your phone. Range and signal strength is unparalleled. Definitely worth upgrading from a stock Comcast Modem/Router combo. I haven't had any problems with connectivity and works great for our three person household.

Works great and as it should, no problems with connection and I havent had drops or anything like that. Even the range of the wireless capability has increased over my older netgear wireless router which this has replaced. If you can get past the price it's a good product. Hope this review helps your purchase decision. Regards.

The router works very well and handles the speed of the network with no issues but for some reason, it is not penetrating through the walls so well as my earlier Netgear router especially to my bedroom even though it is on the same floor and like 40 feet away.

This router is a little bulky, but I don’t mind. So far it delivers my full internet speed (300Mbps) to all my devices. I even have 3 Nest cameras streaming 24/7 without problems. I was having an issue with speed fluctuations, turns out the time on the router wasn’t set correctly. I changed the time to my current location, runs perfect now!

I got 2 story apt. and approximately 25 devices all around the crib. There are smart electric plugs, few smart bulbs couple of iPhones, my girls iPad, 4 laptops, iMac, a gaming desktop, Apple TV, Nvidia Shield TV, PS4 PRO, Nintendo Switch, of course, almost forgot my OnePlus 6T + Thinkpad X1 Carbon, Google Home controlling it all. Any device you might have, we got it. When I installed this router, i went and turned every device on and on those that could, turned on UHD 4K Netflix stream, trying to test the limits of RAX80, and guess what? This beast didnt even bat an eye! The CPU inside was at 10% usage! TEN PERCENT! This is outrageous, like its price. But, we all know, if you want to be the Top Dog wifi in your apt complex, it will cost you.

    Noisy..

Fan is constantly on with ambient room temp 69 deg F. Netgear X10 and ROG Rapture fan never spun up sitting in the same spot. I even propped up the unit on top of a box to provide more air for the vents underneath hoping it would stop the fan from constantly running, it didn’t work. The fan noise would not be an issue if the router was in a different room but it so happens to be in the same room as where I sit and where the cable port is located. Speed is no faster then NETGEAR x10 or Asus ROG Rapture since it’s not running in true AX standards (no devices with AX adapters yet) Running latest firmware. Also my dell laptop cannot see the WiFi channel unless I disable the “AX” feature in the settings. I have an open case with Netgear support (tiger team) to look into both of these issues. I thought the 1st unit was defective so exchanged it and same issue with constant fan on as well as unable to see WiFi channel from my dell running windows 10. I would wait to purchase this until a firmware fix for the constant fan running is fixed as well as backwards compatibility is resolved with certain WiFi adapters.

I currently own the AmpliFi HD with the two mesh extenders and receive constantly a good 330 Mbps on Ethernet, bout 280-315 with WiFi devices. I bought the AX6000 for future proofing myself and said it would be backward compatible with older devices not yet ready for WiFi6 and the speeds were not bad for someone not hitting those 100 Mbps but I’m used to my 300down and this router wasn’t even hitting 150 mbps... and that’s right next to the router. So for me it’s a no go.. the last test that’s in the picture is my AMPLIFI HD on WiFi. The rest are the AX6000.

Used it for about two weeks before returning it. Looks cool but didn’t work as expected. It would need to be rebooted to restore functionality. All devices would be connected but none of the network functioned until restarted. Could be I just got a defective unit. Instead of giving it another try I just decided to get a different router.

First let me start by saying product work great for about two weeks then it started dropping the Wi-Fi the 5.0 and sometimes the 2.4 . Called Netgear and I was held by removing the firmware that I installed and they installed a New firmware , The product has been working great ever since the upgrade.

First impressions of this device after taking it out of the box was that it looked like it should be on the set of a Star Wars movie. It looks cool, I could tell it was very well constructed and not made of cheap plastics. When it boots up the fan is very noisy, but that thankfully stopped once it was ready. Setup The AX6000 is very simple to setup. Make sure you plug in the power/Ethernet cable and connect to its Wi-Fi network before going through the Nighthawk app setup. It takes about 1-2 minutes to boot up and connect to your modem. Setup takes about 4-5 minutes because of the firmware updates (Don’t skip the update). It defaults to a 10.0.0.1 lan IP so I logged in through the address and very quickly adjusted the DNS info, LAN ip, and SSID info to what I previously used so all of my devices automatically connected. Performance This thing is a beast. I don’t live in a huge house, but it fully covers all 3 floors of my townhouse with very little degradation. It covers our smart home devices, 2 servers, Google devices, and has allowed me to watch hi-def videos on my 3 devices at the same time without issue. I guess the Wi-Fi 6 capabilities have actually helped! Is It Worth It Because of how it handles traffic, I would definitely recommend this to anyone who lives in a decently large home with multiple high data using devices. The price is kind of high, but it’s worth it if your Wi-Fi is congested. If this is too expensive, I would also recommend the Nighthawk X6 since it was previously handling my devices very well even though it doesn’t do multi-channel data handling.
