If you are looking at this router, you have probably done your research and have some major needs for speed and distance. This router performs well no doubt but I found one better. I needed something that could perform well with gigabit internet service. I have gigapower from att. I eventually got the ASUS Rt ac 880u gaming router. It's an upgraded version of the one sold at Best Buy. It has red highlights on the antennas. That ASUS outperformed this router on speed and distance. Ultimately each person is looking for specific things but if you're considering this at least give the ASUS a glance. You'll have to search for it bc it's not at brick and mortar stores. This advice comes after comparing the ASUS, the netgear, the linksys, and the apple AirPort Extreme. I had almost $1000 worth of routers running in my house at one time doing testing. I'm also an IT guy so I hope this helps you out. Peace.

I hope this is the last wifi router I ever have to buy. It replaced a Nighthawk R7000 which was pretty good too. I like the extra Ethernet connections which allowed me to retire a switch I had been using. This router plus using the old R7000 as a bridge at the other end of the house, wired to another access point across that room and finally, I have solid wifi throughout the house and yard. I'm not sure this was worth the price but together with the other Netgear router and a third Netgear extender configured as an access point, I'm getting the result I wanted. Look for it on sale.

Very easy set up. Signal strength is solid. Have 12+ devices running on it along with a home entertainment system and a xbox x. Only con is the 5-g channels seems to be hit or miss as my devices will not recognize these as being available.

Incredible unit! My neighbor next door was being refused the same speed as me. Long story short, she cancelled her service we bought this and she shows FULL bars anywhere in her 3000sq foot house, which is coming from my house, 50 feet between houses and the exterior and interior walls in between. The router is in my living room which is in the center of my house. Not only that but we are officially OVERCLOCKING our ISPs speed now even at her house next door. 30+ devices connected at once- NO lag or issues whatsoever. If your going to buy a router, this beast is king.

No extension needed. Long rang of coverage . Stable and fast my fax machine has no trouble anymore. I don't any problem on the interface like describe by Cnet reviewer. The port forwarding was easy to find . Everything going very well so far. Little expansive but instead to buy a repeater you better have it in on piece.

This router was purchased for signal strength and range. It has surpassed our needs. I would recommend this router to anyone that needs a router that will handle a wide range. I'm not crazy about the look of the antennae (reminds me of a space station) but the efficiency of the device far outweighs the appearance.

The NETGEAR - Nighthawk X8 AC5300 Tri-Band Quad Stream Wireless-AC Router is an excellent router. It provides my family with a powerful wi-fi signal throughout the house. Its Wi-Fi signal is even quite strong in the basement and out in the yard!

I purchased the nighthawk X8 after reading reviews taunting it great signal strength. The unit does provide terrific wifi speed and signal. However, I am on my second unit as the first one would overheat so bad it would turn off.... my second one (warranty exchange) has to have a fan on it to keep it cool. I believe having it directly inline with another router from AT&T may contribute to the overheating issue... as I recently installed a 4port switch between the router and the X8 and this has helped with the overheating.

I needed a new router so I read about the latest and greatest. The one thing that I have noticed is I don't have to reset the router anymore. I haven't noticed blazing speeds but it seems ok! Not sure if it's worth $400 price tag.

I was a fan of old blue linksys. I upgraded my router to the new ones with four antenna. The first one worked for a week, another one for a month. I had to return both. I got this Netgear and so far have not had any problem and I love it. It is pricey though. You can buy a Tv with that money.

Router provides ability to connect many devices and keep speed. Router has performed well, but not sure a regular internet service provider allows for the abilities of this router to really be tested (download speeds, etc..)
