I have an older home with solid concrete and steel walls and floors. 4 stories with major issues in getting wireless through. I tried Motorola and Linksys, boosters, and installed two portals one for the upper stories and one for he two lower stories. For two years a very frustrating experience even in trying to print wireless. Installing this netgear was not simple. I did get help with an IT professional but the results are remarkable. We have over twenty simultaneously used wireless units across the house with great reception and minimal loss of strength. This is a very reliable and worthwhile product for the cost.

I used to have to settle for routers that the only way to get the fastest possible speed was to be directly connected. Now with this router, not only does it have a great coverage area for its wifi, but it offers just as fast speeds via WiFi as being directly connected.

I know $399.00 is a lot of money for a wireless router, but when you see how easy it is to setup and how fast it is with its Mu-MIMO technology. Buy the best if your budget will allow. At the $5-10/month the cable companies charge, you'll have your money back soon enough!

This router is HUGE! I had to clear up a small coffee table to make room for this thing. I mainly bought this to trunk my ports for my NAS and I did notice a significant transfer speed to it. Range is great as well. You do have the option to mount it on the wall as well.

Router has much better wireless signal in terms of coverage and quality compared to my previous AC router. Very easy to set up and maintain, only reason for 4 stars is cost. Recommend holding out until you find it on sale because the $399 price tag is way too high.

Bought this router because it was currently the best one on the market. Set-up should have only took 30min. It took 2 days and a call to NETGEAR to finally get online. Now that it is hooked up though it works great in our 2700sqft house with multiple users online.

The performance of this router is great. It won't blow away other routers in terms of distance but it will in stability. I ran this router for almost a month now and never have had to reboot it at all. First time ever for a router I've had (couple AC routers).

My 2x2 AC Laptop gets 866mbs. I don't have dropped service and performance is smooth when multiple devices are used. This router complements the 114Mbs Internet download and 20Mbs upload from Time Warner. The Netgear X10 is available for pre-order, but don't hold off on your purchase of this router. The 802.11AD found in the X10 isn't in any devices that I know of. The X10 is a hotrod, but at $500 the X8 is a great by. You won't be disappointed.

I have a router that was a few years old. With all the Wi-Fi devices I now have, iPads, phones, laptops, myQ garage doors, alarm system and on and was a mess. My router could not handle the throughput needed, so it was time for an upgrade. I wanted a triband router, I saw the new Netgear AC5300 X 8 Nighthawk on BestBuy read the rave reviews, and at a Black Friday (Thursday) prices of $299 I could not resist. I ordered it, received it in a few days setup, and tweaked and this thing screams. I hope that it will be as reliable as my old Netgear router and the interface is the same so I love their advanced settings. All the devices are getting excellent signal and throughput. The router is huge, but my guess is they needed the size to avoid fans for cooling and all the components needed to support three bands, six Ethernet ports, 4 external and 4 internal antennas.

Absolutely no issues with setup and connecting all my devices. With the tri-band the devices are spread evenly with the low priority devices i.e. the garage door and Nest can use the slower 2,4 and the phones TV and tablets use the faster 5 ghz bands.

This is by far and without question the best router I have owned of all of the Netgear products. It handles 20 plus devices without a hickup including gaming, video streaming, cell devices, tablets and laptops. It runs the 250 Mbs internet speed at sometimes over 300 on WIFI! This router is awesome and I would recommend it to anyone that requires many devices. It also handles the ethernet connected devices thru my netgear network switch. PERFECT.

After talking to the best buy rep and black Friday deal I think this is a great addition to improve my electronics. It has exceeded expectations although it does run a little bit hot and needs to be placed in a well ventilated central location.

Right out of the box set up. Download the app and you are up and running in under 5 min.
The coverage is really good and the option to set up a temporary guess open network is great. You can have friends over and not have to provide your secure password login information. The guest feature has several time durations to select from, so you are in control of how long the guest option is available. Since you can run the unit from the app, your can event control access when you are away from home.
Totally satisfied with this model.

My husband and I originally bought this when we lived in a smaller apartment thinking our other router count not handle all the devices bc the internet had slowed drastically. Unfortunately that was not the case, too many people had moved in around us and that was slowing down the speed. After moving to a larger home without so many people around on the same line our internet works great again! And this router allows us to have great service anywhere in the house. Definitely recommend for larger homes!

Replaced an AirPort Extreme base station with this. I was having trouble getting signal in some areas despite having the router in a good location. This has really improved the coverage throughout my house, and even to the yard and patio.
