Did not know my internet could get faster and reach out farther throughout the house! This router made my internet bandwidth come alive and on steroids! Now we are streaming fast - updates, downloads, apps, iPods, iPads, Fire tablet, laptops. The family is happy and we did not have to pay more to the cable co. to get faster speed! 110% satisfied!

Unfortunately, it is currently located in my AV closet which is never a good thing to do when trying to achieve ultimate wireless coverage however this router is very powerful! I have a 50% increase in coverage than my Apple Time Capsule (wireless N). Wireless AC and MIMO is the way to go both my iPad Pro and my wife's Alienware laptop connect at 855mbps (which as of right now is overkill since i only have a 75mb internet connection). That being said, I have no issues with internal streaming from my media center to any of my wi-fi devices. The other major plus is the Netgear Genie app. It makes setup much easier for people who are not familiar with setting up home networks and in may ways much better than Apple's wi-fi app. I could see people having issues with its size. It's a big friggin router. It's footprint is as big as 15" laptop. But it needs a lot under the hood to be as powerful and offer all of the features that it does.

Love the router, the firmware pages leave a bit to be desired in that it constantly wants you to re-enter your router admin password, but if you ignore it and hit the back button, you can get back to the router's access. The range is silly great... covers a good size home and out to the back yard just fine with streaming audio.

    Fast Router

This router is very fast and was easy to setup at first. The only reason this is not a 5 star is the lousy software to set things up. It keeps bouncing you back and forth to web pages and the app. Accessing the settings through a mobile device browser is also problematic. No matter what I do, half of the page is chopped off so I can't see everything or even scroll over to it. Everything seems to work fine from the browser on my PC though. The app I installed on my mobile devices works great, except you can't do hardly anything with it. The parental controls are also difficult to setup. For example, I tried to block YouTube on my son's computer and it just wouldn't block it. The features on my old Linksys router app were much better. I could do everything on the Linksys app. I haven't decided if I am going to return this or not yet. If you aren't interested in customizing your setup or setting parental controls, this seems to be a good router.

I replaced a Linksys AC1900 router with this Netgear Nighthawk X8 router. Everything seems to work better! My HP wireless printer kept disconnecting with the Linksys router. I always assumed it was the printer that was the problem. I, also, used to have to reset my other router when I would stream Netflix or Amazon Prime videos for any length of time. Now, with the Netgear router, I haven't had any problems. I also have better range and, of course, more bandwidth. I highly recommend this router despite the cost.

My son had a few friends over and I hear "Dude your wifi is crawling". Those old but functional wireless N router just weren't made for the number of things we are trying to connect today. I upgraded to this and all of our devices are faster and the signal is stronger on the second floor. Installation was simple with no tech support needed.

I had to replace my previous NetGear router and after doing some research decided on the Nighthawk X8 AC5300. It was easy to set up and my speeds are a bit faster and I am getting a better signal throughout the house. Would definitely it. Added bonus was that I was able to pick it up on sale so I saved about $100.

I had one of these routers already (Works great) but, I had a dead spot where I was losing speed in my house, so I bought a second one to use it as an acess point to fill in the void I had with the dead spot, it was very easy to configure it to be a access point this router fills the void that I had with only one R8500

Pros: Easy setup.... great coverage 4,000 sq ft home, no dead spot.... love the dual, bands or you can combine and let the router choose for you the best speed.... lights on router indicate whether you are getting gig speed or regular Cons: app on phone not the greatest, but not a deal maker or breaker for me

Finally got tired of my family complaining about how bad our internet is, and decided to upgrade from the provider wi-fi. This was easy to set up and has me kicking myself for not making the move sooner. Is on the main level and works great upstairs and in the basement. No booster needed in an 1800 square foot home.
