Excellent router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When my Asus router died, I went back to my old Netgear 3800. This router has the same interface as the old, so navigating the menus was easy. The performance has been excellent. I have no complaints. In my house, I run 4 Roku's, 3 laptops, 3 iPads, 3 iPhones, iMac, printer and misc other devices. The wireless has been flawless across all of these devices. The router itself does run a bit warm, so I invested in a 17" laptop cooler which keeps the heat down.

So far, so good! Family very happy!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've had the router for a couple months now. The reason for purchasing was we are a family of four with approximately 20 wireless devices (phones, iPads, laptops, smart TVs, printers) and not only were we getting slow or interrupted download times, we had a few dead spots (and/or low signal) areas in the house. This router set up in minutes (super easy--no phone calls to CS needed) and both issues of download times and dead spots were eliminated! I've had zero I trouble of any kind (so far) with performance or tech issues. The three bands makes it easy optimize traffic (we split up who's device got which band depending on the device, and were it is most often used--when we initially set-up the router) so that all devices aren't acessing one band. I was torn between this router and the top router from Asus RT-AC5300, but due a very high number of negative reviews (my opinion) on the Asus, I decided to go with this one (more of a mix of negative/positive reviews). The entire family is currently very happy with the wireless performance in our house now. Hopefully this router continues to stay problem free!

Great router...Obviously ridiculously expensive.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got a good deal on this router. I was hoping for a decent upgrade from the Netgear Nighthawk R7000 AC1900 router I had. After moving into a new two story house the R7000 didn't quite have the range to cover the whole house from the office on the first floor. The Nighthawk X8 R8500 AC5300 router has eleviated this issue. I now have coverage (5GHz) through my whole house which is all I can ask for. The router itself looks pretty cool as well.

Wanted speed and wifi coverage: got it in spades!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Had major wifi coverage problems in my three level home. Tried multiple routers and extenders and still suffered outages and interference problems along with ip conflicts. I removed all previous wifi gear and installed and configured the Nighthawk in less than a half hour. Hooked up, 2 ipads, 2 iphones, 2 pcs and 2 printers to the new router. Using okla speed test all of my devices clocked at my isp's allocated bandwidth of 50Mb/sec. Had over a month now, no reboots, outages or slowdowns. Product rocks!

Got a bad unit but second is freaking awesome!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this initially to control all the wifi traffic at home and figured a third band would be nice. It worked well for about a week then I had all kinds of problems. I spoke with tech support for over an hour before being told I had a bad unit. 4 days later new one arrived and I cannot believe the difference. Its blazing fast and super easy to assign access to certain bands. Keep in mind your internet speed is tied to your ISP and not your router necessarily.

Just What I Needed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have a three story stone house, and the TWC provided wifi network just wasn't working with all of our devices online: desktops, laptops, iPads, iPhones, printers, Apple TV, Samsung smart TV, etc. So after we had the Geeksquad put the X8 in - everything is operating seamlessly. Download speeds are averaging 60Mbps. And upload speeds are about 6.5 Mbps. Much faster than before. And if there's an issue with the 2.4 network, we just switch to one of the two other 5 gig networks. Very happy so far.

Awesome Router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I Had problems with my old router always having to reset it. Because of the amount of wireless devices in my house it was too much of a load on my router. After buying this new tri band router my problems were solved. not only did it allow to choose three channels it allowed you to pick the priority of each item on your network. also the is the most important part. it reaches all parts of my house.

My other router wasn't cutting the mustard.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a 1900ft2 ranch style house. I have a fairly new router about 2-years old. It was mounted in my living room & the signal wasn't reaching my bedroom causing our phones & Ipad to switch to DATA. That's why I searched for a new one. Even after looking over reviews I consulted your geek squad at the store. This one was recommended by your Geek squad as top of the line. So I bought it. This one reaches the bedroom now with no problem. Great speed. Good connection. Glad I bought it.

Works great, easy to setup, powerful
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I owned the original NightHawk (7000), but have over 40 devices (smart home) so I wanted a second router so I would have TWO 2.4 channels (already had 2 5ghz but most of my devices needed the 2.4). I was able to get a good price on the X8 via price matching (it was $10 less than the X6) so I picked it up. The nighthawk 7000 was large, but this is even bigger--like a small laptop. I used this as my primary router and ran a wire downstairs and used my origional (7000) in AP mode. Then I manually set the channels so they were different. The network uses the features of the X8 (8500) and the signal is VERY strong throughout the house. Since I located the original Nighthawk 7000 down near the stereo, I ended up hard wiring the Apple TV, Roku and the TIVO to this router--eliminating any wireless bandwidth from these high-bandwidth devices and saving the wireless for mobile devices. Everything works smooth, no stuttering or delays. Took awhile to re-set the parental controls but I got everything working.

I liked it. Wish I could have kept it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this to cure my wifi woes. Unfortunately, it did not. That's not knocking this though. The problem lies outside my wifi router. But for the brief time I owned this, my gf said her wifi was faster than ever before and I liked it until the wifi woes ruined it for me. This is a huge router and you better have plenty of space to be able to place it and still allow for air to flow easily around it. It might be wall mountable, I can't remember. The 4 antennas allow the signal to be targeted and provide a strong signal, which is nice if you have a weak spot in your place (you can look for weak spots by getting an app for your phone that checks wifi signal strength while you're walking around, I thought it was cool). MU-MIMO stands for multiple user-multi in multi out. That means, as far as I understand it, that if there are multiple people using wifi and each person potentially has multiple devices, then it allows each device to use the bandwidth at the same time as opposed to older routers taking turns and shooting like a machine gun at each device (which is called SU-MIMO, SU being single user). MU-MIMO makes for a much smoother and faster experience when using wifi devices and will probably become standard here soon, tho don't quote me on that. The Netgear setup is simple for the most part. Netgear genie app or going to their website allows you to get to the nitty gritty of what is using up your bandwidth and how many devices are connected to your wifi. It shows quite a bit more, but I can't list it all or even remember it all. I would and maybe will get this again and recommend it to others if you can afford it.

Fast and Flexible
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This router was relatively easy to setup and configure. Speeds are impressive compared to my outgoing 4 year old Netgear router with the same cable modem and service provider/level of service. A little on the expensive side, but if all the features work as they are supposed to this will be well worth the investment. P.S. The link aggregation feature worked seamlessly a nice feature for busy/crowded networks.

Good range and better than standard speed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have 1 GHz speed coming in my home on a direct wire. My last router provided me with about 120 MHz on wireless and about 40 foot range thru walls. This new router provides speed up to about 190 MHz on wireless and about 60 foot range thru brick walls. A little pricey but does provide a full range and speed for what I need. Have not lost signal yet and also has multiple Wi-Fi's available for you or guests

Works great, looks great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I mounted this router to my wall. I needed it because my camera system is constantly sending signals locally and it takes a lot of bandwidth. I know get full bars on the other side of my house where I used to only get half. The speed is great and right now I can't see myself outgrowing this unit anytime soon. The feature set is really cool too, especially if you need to set any type of user restrictions.

Wow that was Eassy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Always concerned when upgrading but this was the easiest I recall on my network, all was practically done by the automatic setup and I was up and running before the NFL game commercials was over. Give a true meaning to plug and play. Love the distance on connection, I can now go to my neighbor home and maintain the connection and my Xbox1 downloads are super fast..Love it

Fantastic Router - Top Notch
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this router after the current router at my office died. The router supports about 35 hard wired clients and around 10 - 15 WiFi clients on any given day. This router was easy to setup, provided very good range and throughput and has been rock solid since installing it. The sheer weight of this unit is astounding compared to similar routers.

Overall Great Product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing thruput compared to the 1.2G netgear router I had. I have 20 devices connected & don't seem to see any slowness. The dual band is very good to have.Have kept my important devices like phones, Smart TV, work laptops on 5GHZ . Kids & other devices are on 2GHZ. I also see a remarkable difference in coverage. Now I get a good signal in any corner of my single family home and also anywhere in my huge backyard. Don't need an extender anymore. Sometimes kids get a signal all the way to the corner of my street. Good product if you are ready to spend some money. I had some BBY points so decided to go a step above. But the other lower range routers 3.1-3.5G are also good enough. I just felt like taking the best range product out there so it can last me 4-5 years & handle the dozens of devices we add every year. Most devices at home today require a wireless connection. So as well get something a little above your current capacity needs.
