I love this thing. It is a beast. It is fast, consistent, and reliable all throughout my home. My home is about 2,800 sqft and it covers all of it with ease. I have noticed that I get much better coverage outside as well. I switched from a Linksys router and didn't look back!

This router was purchased for a new business location that is approximately 50K square feet to provide Wi-Fi access to the public. We purchased two of the Netgear 730 WAPs to use with this router, but because of the superb performance of this router the WAPs were not needed. The performance and reliability of this router has more than exceeded our expectations. Though we paid a little extra for this particular router (x8 model) than we planned to spend, we have more than made up the difference because we didn't need the WAPs. We now plan to replace some of our older routers that are installed in other locations with this new model because of how well it is working for us.

I have been struggling with wireless disconnect issues with my Linksys WRT1900AC unit. Been on endless tech support calls to the Phillipines only to have them declare that my unit is broken (twice). After my second replacement unit and the same disconnect issues, I was done. I run a business and can't spend my time tending to this nonsense. So I went back down to Best Buy and got the big bad Netgear Nighthawk X8. Setup was a breeze and no problems with wireless disconnect issues. Range was super far, extremely stable, and my miseries resolved. I am sure there are other units that could have solved my miseries, but I said give me the most expensive and best unit you have.

We have multiple Xbox Ones and 360s in my household as well as 6 cell phones(when everyone is home), 3 smart tvs. 1 work laptop, a personal laptop and a desktop(the only thing hardwired). We have Xfinity triple play and have their all in one router/gateway, kept having issues with it and had to place the One in the DMZ so I needed to look into getting a better router. This thing has been great, put the Xfinity into bridge mode and using this as my router, both Ones have status of OPEN for network without putting into DMZ, you can also set priority for devices. Speed is good normally get close to my limits from Xfinity 150/10(usually a little above) and coverage is great. 3 story house with router on 1st floor front and there are devices in the basement and 2 floor that get full strength signal. Using latest firmware from netgear. The only issue I have was that it dropped connection after 3 days of working and it was a beast to get it back working BUT I believe that was an Xfinity issue and putting that device back into bridge mode more than the netgear deivce. Once I totally reset everything and got it working again it has been rock solid for the past 4 weeks. Just beware this thing is huge!!!

This router has lots of horsepower to handle anything you can throw at it. Installation and setup was straightforward using netgears genie app. No more dead spots in my house and internet access speeds improved. Only negatives are its size, USB ports mounted on the side, and the cost (fortunately bought it on Black Friday at a discount).

This thing delivers across the board. It was really easy to setup for starters which was just great. One I got it going I would say it boosted my wireless capabilities by about 600% over the previous router. The signal strength was off the charts and it easily drove multiple devices across and through a very large house. It looks cool and IS cool. We previously were having ongoing problems with wireless consistency on our Smart TV but this thing just killed it, effortless resolving our TV app issues. It's not cheap but you definitely get what you pay for here, especially if wireless plays a big part of your digital life as it does ours.

The NIghthawk x* AC5300 is an amazing router. Setup is easy and user friendly thanks to the GUI. The range and speed are nothing short of amazing. This router handles multiple devices with ease. While there are advanced features on this router I am not currently using, it is nice to know I can grow into them as my needs change. I believe this router is worth the price for all you get. The antennas are large and I like the blue led lights, making it an overall good looking design. This router was more than what I originally budgeted to spend, and I do not regret buying it.

The first one I bought shorted out after 5 days but it was under warranty and the new one has been working great for several weeks. It was easy to set up. I haven't tested the range yet but so far it seems to work good on all 3 floors of my house. I highly recommend this router. It was well worth the price.

Ive gone through the Asus RT-AC87U, Apple Airport Extreme, and the previous generation netgear R8000... and I spent at least a month with each router, placing them in the exact same location in my home. Each router was $250+ and had at least two of the following: build quality defects, dropped connections, or insufficient range.
At my wits end, I saw this router and decided to give it a try before just giving up on a wireless network entirely. And I can tell you without a doubt that this router - the R8500 Nighthawk X8 - totally outshines both every other router I've owned, as well as every router on the market.
Not only does it produce a signal that's DOUBLE the range versus the other routers, and not only does it have the FASTEST bandwidth (even with 8+ devices), it is so incredibly simple to set up and doesn't have any flimsy, weak parts that look easily breakable. I am sure if customers had the opportunity to test this versus any other router Best Buy sells, this would be the only 5-star router (and the others would be 3-stars at best).

I've bought this about a month ago, I couldn't be more pleased.
I have a 4K TV, 2 laptops, 1 media center, 1 Nvidia Shiled capable of streaming Netflix, YouTube, HBO, etc in 4K resolution, which means super fast connection. I have everything connected using WiFi 5GHz. never had a buffering problem. 4K contenct runs smoothly. Video Games (streamed by NVidia Shield) are simply great.
I also have a Seagate NAS, both (the NAS and the Router) have port aggregation, which means I can connect 2 ethernet cables from the router to the NAS and it works at 2Gbps, simply lovely, stable, fast, reliable.
and the best part is that even using 2 ports for the NAS, I still have 4 ports for other devices. Yes, that's correct, it comes with 6 ethernet ports, 2 of them can do link aggregation. I simply love it.
Oh, and if you love to tweak your router, there's a DD_WRT firmware which give you full control over your router and also adds VPN support so all your devices run thru the VPN channel. What else could I ask for? nothing! this has it ALL.

I did research new wfis routers prior to making this purchase. This wifi router is excellent. There are several users of this system in my household and the old wifi wasn't cutting it anymore. With this upgrade I have noticed much faster downloads and smoother connection to the internet.

I needed a strong whole house router, one that would go through my old plaster walls and up to my second floor bedrooms for my Samsung Smart T.V.s. This router does the trick. I have no issues using portable laptop computers or streaming movies to the T.V.s from my Vudu cloud library.

Switching from Comcast Modem / Router combo. Had to keep Comcast modem for phone. The Comcast modem was fine, but the wireless is weak and I could not stream Netflix using wireless. I went into Best Buy and asked for the most badass, powerful router they had and I was pointed to the NETGEAR Nighthawk X8. It did not disappoint via performance, however the set-up is horrible and took ALL DAY including multiple calls to NETGEAR phone support to person vaguely familiar with the English language. After on the phone for over an hour, I hung up, ate dinner and called back on a full stomach. The second NETGEAR phone support person was very good and she discovered the connection problem and fixed it and I was off to the races. Set up / installation took my entire Sunday! Better phone support would have fixed this. The communication problem and the lack of a handle on the English language was the challenge. The router works great and I stream Netflix on my TIVO Bolt!

Has all the features you need now and in the future. I did find its range does cover a 2000sf house easily and stays connected all the time. I have had this router for a month now and I'm glad I got it, no regrets. I would give it five stars but there is always room for improvement.

I used to swear by Linksys. Then Belkin bought them out. Even with my old Linksys router, I always had problems with getting Open NAT in games. I upgraded to the Nighthawk when it first came out, but had issues with the firmware.
I was within my return period when the X6 came out. The X6 was good, but I still had some range issues with it, among some other things. So, I burned my Best Buy warranty on it and "upgraded" to the X8. It's one of the best routers I've owned. I got it on price match - I'd never pay full retail for this thing - but It's WELL worth the $330.00 I put towards it ($30 our of pocket as the X6 was $299.99). I get Open NAT on every system I have (PS4, Xbox One, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3) and have never encountered any multiplayer issues.
I haven't tried the Dynamic QoS feature on this router yet, but it left a lot to be desired on the X6. Also, according to Netgear, they are releasing the Firmware Support for MU-MIMO soon. :-)

We use this router in a house full of gamers and device users. This router doesn't even hiccup. We have a large assortment of consoles, computers, and mobile devices and there's no hesitation. I can even access it from outside my home in the yard. Easy configuration and setup.

I bought this during the Black Friday Sale $299 i don't think i would pay anymore and would have waited for the price to drop. There were only a few reviews from customers who purchased it no Tech Site reviews. So i bit the bullet. It has worked pretty well so far the house is ranch style one level solid block and its it the far side corner , i know not central have to run new wires for that, but even in the far corner of a 2500 SQ FT HM plus it reaches through about 4 walls to my farthest corner room. The unit is a beast and classy and stunning looking. I disabled the all 3 on one network to be able and just log on to the one you want that feature seemed to mess things up one of the 5 GHz was dropping out disappearing so we turned the feature off and went back to default. 4 star because my thought is at $299 and up it should be perfect and still have a bit more range. Like everything the tech is there they just hold it back to make money :-(

This is our second Nighthawk. Our cat knocked the previous one off a shelf and broke it (so this one is duct taped!). Even though our first was relatively new, this one seems to be an improvement. Our reception throughout our two-story house and in the yard is very good.
