We got terrific speed and range from this router especially compared to our old Belkin router. The only problem we had was that it is incompatible with Vonage but it is not Netgear's fault but rather Vonage's fault for not being able to adapt to newer technology

So my last wireless router was about 7 years old and couldn't keep up with the high demand of iEverything in my house....
This router handles everything (iPhones, iPads, laptops etc and streaming live TV). Solid 180mbs.
Outstanding router with good range....

Have a very large two story home and bought this to provide fast internet to the entire home. The downstairs and upstairs works great on wireless...even for streaming movies and tv shows or playing PS4 games online on multiple devices.

This router is great for people with many devices over WiFi (especially on the 5Ghz bands). With Dual 5Ghz bands running on different channels, your devices can pick the best band (in theory) so you can get twice the throughput on your network (in theory).
I run it against a 1Gbps up/down fiber connection and max out the AC performance ~700Mbps in about 15ft line of site. Works great! The signal strength is very good compared to much cheaper routers.
If you want Youtube videos or run an Xbox on a < 50Mbps internet connection or if you live in a house/apartment < 1200sqft / 110sqm don't bother with this thing. All routers now-a-days can get you 50Mbps to each of your devices without a problem.
Also, this this is absolutely GIGANTIC! It's about as big as a 13" macbook in width and depth.

It's excellent router for distance , it covers my three floors (4600 sq ft). I have not found a quest setting yet that would nice. I have not found a Mac filter either which I wish it has. If I find that it has them two things I will give it a five star.

Great product most Ethernet ports the competitors products. Easy setup, tech support easy to reach but not completely knowledge about the product. Was put in hold several times while the research to get correct answer and not just misinformation. Thech support was awesome about that. Draw backs for me were: second USB should be USB 3 not USB 2., USB port was on the front so I have cables stickin out. Range isn't as far as stated. I' assume the number they use is based on average install whereas my house is over 100 years old with wire mesh, lath and extra thick plaster/ concrete walls. I had to purchase an extender to get the range and strength I need for video streaming and to have my phones stay connected via wifi. This added to an already expensive product. What made me go ahead and purchase was a $40 instant rebate and 5% back using my best buy credit card

It's really fast for all my devices. They all work fast at the same time with no lag. The signal strength is strong and you can be far away from it. It looks really cool on the wall too.

Very easy interface and programming. Installed and running in just minutes after opening box. Range is good could be better but the tri band makes a difference in getting that extra distance. I definitely recommed this for multi level homes.

Replaced an older router with this one because it was on sale and recommended by a computer whiz friend. I can’t believe how much better this new router is than my first couple. First of all, I could set it up myself with just the manual and on screen setup wizard. Secondly, all of our devices that use it are working much faster, including the hard-wired desktop computer. Finally, I get strong signal all the way out to the back of our property now, and it can back up my desktop to an external hard drive automatically.

Nighthawk is Great For Large Homes

I live in a very large home and this nighthawk router is the perfect router that reaches every room within the house. It is very easy to set up the router and if your network has capabilities of 100 megabytes per second to a Gigabyte per second I highly recommend this router. For downloading large files, gaming or just plainly having multiple devices on a router, this router is a "monster" and can pretty much handle anything. Once again, I needed a consistent and fast router and this router has done the job for me.

We are a household with very heavy internet use. We have 4 desktops, 4 laptops and a whole host of hand held devices and gaming systems. I have two children who game. Prior to installing this router we had had lag and pauses waiting for the router to recognize new devices. Prior to this router I also needed a range extender to reach the upstairs corner of the house. I have FIOS but disable their wireless and use their router only as a modem. The Netgear setup was easy and accurate. I haven't had to reset the router and my network is screaming fast. I removed the range extender and get great results all over the house. We pay for 150 up and down with FIOS and I can get Speedtest results of 150 up and down on wireless connections throughout the house! This router is expensive but worth it to me.

Great speed and range, but some options missing

Excellent speed, especially with AC wireless. Range is also quite good.
The options are a bit limited in the firmware. For instance, you can't schedule a time when certain devices are blocked from the internet. So, if you have kids and want their devices blocked for certain hours of the week, you have to do it manually... every single time. That's a bit annoying considering many other lower-end routers have that option.
Overall, if you're just looking for speed, range, and connectivity, it's a good choice though.

Upgraded from a previous Nighthawk Netgear router. Speeds definitely improved with this router. For example, even on the 2.4 band, my DL speed on my PS4 went from around 18 down, to now, around 40-50 MB/s. Setting up was a snap. I have owned this router for a few months now and no problems whatsoever. I live with 5 other people that stream and surf the net and is handled flawlessly thus far. Definitely recommend.

I have a large house and have always had to use Wi-Fi extenders to manage the whole house. The Nighthawk X8 AC5300 Tri-Band Quad Stream Wi-Fi Router put an end to that. It is now my Single Source for Wi-Fi in the house and manages multiple video streams as well as several desktops and laptops without missing a beat. Rather pricey but very well worth the expenses without all the headaches of managing extenders. I Highly recommend the Nighthawk X8 AC5300 Tri-Band Quad Stream Wi-Fi Router.

I've been impressed with the unit so far. It's been installed for over 2 weeks. Speed and the 3 channels help separate the different devices. No lag on the Apple TV and added a Ring doorbell. No issues. Moved up from a Time Capsule and Airport Extreme set up. No need for a second device. Set it up in the center of our 2400sf house. Only downside is the form factor is larger and not as easy to hide behind/under/inside a piece of furniture. Great Unit...Highly recommend.

I had been having problems with random disconnects from my printers and Nest thermostat with my Linksys router, but since installing this there has not been any issues. It seems very stable and as far as I tell very fast. I have a limited internet connection because I am out in the country, but this does seem to be faster than my old router and I can now watch 4k Netflix without any stops. I have over 15 wired devices (tv's,tivo, cameras, extra routers, ect.) hooked through a couple of switches and even that works smoothly as well as all the wireless devices that are run throughout the day.

Purchased this just over 6 months ago now. Have 10 devices on the wifi, and the pc wired in. Have not had any problems at all. Great coverage throughout my 2500sq foot home, even outside in the garage.
With my previous Netgear router, I had to manually reset it once a week on average. I have not had to do that once yet with the Nighthawk X8.
It does tend to get a little warm so I purchased a laptop cooling fan and plugged it right into the router's usb and leave that on.
