    More Than Impressed!

I'll keep it short and sweet... IT professional for over 20 years. I've owned and configured several routers, both for personal use and corporate. I finally decided to upgrade our Linksys, although it isn't that old. I was skeptical...but, with all of the devices that are now connecting to the wifi these days and all of the gaming, streaming and remote work access going on, I figured why not give it a try. I'm so glad I did! My internet connection is 110 Mbps. I was getting around 85 on my wired connections and at the worst times, around 35 on wireless. Well, now I'm in essence "overclocking" my connection because I'm getting around 155 Mbps on wired and 132 on wireless. I tested and re-tested. Please don't tell my ISP! Stability, QoS and parental controls are great and relatively straightforward.

This is a review I've been waiting a month to write. I believe you can't really write a review unless you've been using the product for a little while. I needed a major update for my router, I've been using a Linksys WRT54G for my extender. It was very slow had to restart all the time. I was looking at several different routers and was determined to get the Netgear X6. I went to the local BestBuy had the X6 in hand, however I kept gravitating to the X8. Some of the review suggested to spend the extra and get the X8 instead of the X6. Needless to say, it's expensive for a router, it's massive compared to the Linksys I had. I'll tell you this thing is awesome. The set up was easy, I especially liked you could use your old routers SSID settings and didn't have to change passwords on all the devices already set up on the old router. The router has been rock steady, have not had to reset it at all, that was one of my worries from the reviews. The ease of set up and applications included with it are great. I use this as my wireless router as opposed to the Comcast wireless from the modem, i have that disabled. Spend the extra and future proof and don't settle for old tech. This router is fast and can support every device in my home with no bottle necks at any given time there are 10 to 12 wireless devices connected.

This router has many features. I've noticed slightly lower pings when gaming online. The wireless coverage, range, and throughput is phenomenal. It has a smart phone app for easy management also. It is rather large, so be prepared to wall-mount it or have it take up some serious desk space.

We have had many routers over the years and have always preferred the Netgear brand because of the easy setup. We bought this unit for performance. Our son is an online gamer, daughter streams movies and my wife and I surf the net. In many instances we do all of this simultaniously. This router has not had any issues at all. Great speed, no lagging, etc.

Bougjt this for a 2900 sq. ft. Home and the coverage is great on the first and second floors. Speed is maintained even with lower signal. I was looking to flash ddwrt but it appears the new revisions of this router are missing something to allow that. The thing is BIG. Make sure you have a decent spot for it with enough breathing room as it can get hot.

Coming from a R7000 which died early, this router has been nothing but fantastic. Range and speed are almost 1.5 times greater than the R7000.

I was a bit hesitant in buying an expensive router. I didn’t believe the gain would outweigh the price, but between gaming on two consoles and a pc as well as having multiple other devices connected to the router, it out performs anything I’ve had in the past. You can prioritize deferent devices or within connected devices as well as control connection to them and overall control of the router from your phone. It’s one of the better investments I’ve made to say the least.

While I can definitely recommend this router for it's great speed and large amount of features. The truth is most people won't notice the speed and even my self hardly ever take advantage of the full potential of this router, why? Well because USB drives are still faster and move data more reliably. Plus my internet connection isn't gigabit, so I'm limited to what I do have which is around 200 mbps and while I do get that on my phone and tablet its still just on the 5ghz bandwidth. The range of the router while good is still limited by how many walls it's going through and what those walls are made of, but if you live in a somewhat modern home where the walls aren't full of wood or made out of concrete this router should easily cover your home In conclusion yes this router is awesome but, there's plenty of options that are just as compelling and don't break the bank

With a house full of boys, there are plenty of bandwidth hogs. Xbox, Playstation, Netflix, Youtube, ....you name it, it's running here. We've had many problems in the past with everything slowing down to the point where we had to reboot the router to start over. So far, we haven't experienced that problem with this router. You can essentially create three dedicated paths (each with their own network name) and then assign certain devices to each one. I certainly recommend this router.
