Customers are saying
Customers frequently mention the ease of setup and the extended range as significant advantages. Many also praise the improved signal strength and overall performance. While some users experienced occasional connectivity issues, the positive feedback regarding ease of use and range significantly outweighs the negative comments. The small size of the device was also a plus for many users.

Hard to install
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was told by my cell phone salesman that this might help my phone service at my home. I did not think so since it was not the internet coverage but the cellular network coverage that I had a problem with, but I was willing to give it a try. Needless to say it didn't help, so I have returned it. I can not really say how good this product works, since I was not using it for what it is made for. Sorry. But it was hard for me to install.

Might work in a small space
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have a three story house, and we installed the device in the middle of the house, but the signal was too weak and it kept dropping the signal to our wireless devices. It might work well in a much smaller space, but it did not really "extend" the range of our wi-fi.

Not a good product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product simply is not good, which is surprising from Netgear. It seemed too good to be true, and it was. A simple device you plug into a wall socket and "set it and forget it". Worked great for a day or two then I realized the signal was gone, checked the device and it was OFF. Reset it and tried a few more times but continually powers down. I noticed once it was off that the device was hot, so maybe it was a bad unit but I wasn't chancing it and went with an amped wireless AP instead.

Useful Range Extender
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This range extender is exactly what I needed to get a WiFi signal that extends the length of my property. Setup was simple and the plug design keeps it out of sight.

Very disappointed in the product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to like this device, but in the end it was far too unreliable. The form factor is nice, and the setup was a breeze. I had no issues initially connecting it to my NetGear wireless N router. I made sure to place it in an area where I was still getting 2-3 bars from my main router so that signal strength upstream would be good. The router was in an upstairs office on one end of the house. The extender was placed on the opposite end on the main floor where I always got good wifi connectivity. After configuring the extended I found that the extender actually gave me a stronger signal in most of my house than the main router. I also wanted to use this as a bridge (supported functionality) via the gigabit ethernet port on the device. After initial testing, everything was working fine. Unfortunately, every couple of days it would lose the link upstream to my router. It would still show all indicators as if everything is fine, but I couldn't connect across the bridge and devices that had previously been able to connect to the extender could no longer associate. Power cycling the device resolved the issue, but only for a little while. Despite having multiple devices that could see the 5GHz signal, I never did manage to get a device to connect using 5GHz, even when in the same room 10 feet away from the extender. I tried with various devices from Lenovo, Samsung, Motorola, and Asus, and though they could all see the _5GEXT none of them could connect. After about 10 days of trying to make it work I returned it. I did see that there was a firmware update available for it, but didn't get a chance to see if it improved the situation. By the time I could have flashed the firmware and spent a few days testing it my return period would have passed, and I didn't want to be stuck with a $100 paperweight. In the I ended up taking my old wireless G router, put DD-WRT on it, and it has worked well so far. It's definitely slower, but since it's more reliable I think that I'll stick with it. I think that in the end, applying the price of this device towards a newer, faster router with a more powerful radio would be a better buy for me.

Decent Dual Channel Extender
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was getting poor wifi reception in my house. Fios installed the router in the far corner of the house so I only could get wifi in 4 of the 10 rooms of the house (at g network speeds). I connected my dual channel WNDR3300 router and got 2 more rooms with coverage. I did not want to run cables and start drilling homes. So I picked up this extender. It worked right out of the box with the WPS set up. It easily engulfed the whole house with wifi reception (all 3,300 square feet). The setup was simple but it created 4 wifi access points ( One 2.5 Ghz N, two 5 Ghz N, and one 2.5 Ghz G). The access point does allow a stream lined set up where you could set up one dedicated channel to the router from the access point and then one out everyone. So what I did was set up the 5 Ghz from the router to the access point and then used the 2.5 Ghz for all the connections. It increased the speeds and reduced the number of access points. The 5 Ghz bridge was only a short distance from the router to the extender so I had the bigger bandwidth there. Using the 2.5 ghz I was able to get the whole house covered. I had 3 devices streaming Netflix with out any problems. To get the router and the extender setup to do this fastlane connection took a while. For some reason I cannot understand, every time I changed a router setting I would need to redo the whole install of the access point. This whole process took literally 30 minutes to get the settings where I need them. In contrast, the initial out of the box set up took less than 5 minutes.

Outstanding!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have an AT&T 2wire gateway in the basement of our house and were having reception problems on the upstairs level unless you were within a 30 foot radius of the router. I added this extender and it improved the whole house range including to the back porch to full strength. Setup was so simple and I only skimmed through the instructions and logging on using my WEP only took a few seconds. Sped up my browsing on the iPads and iPhones big time. No more frozen streaming videos. So far, I am very pleased with this product and would recommend.

Works great - Fixed my problem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would get very little to no wifi signal on my 2nd floor as my modem is at one end of the house. When I installed this at the bottom of the stairs, it greatly extended the range of my signal. Wifi throughout the entire house. Easy to set up. Works well with my D-Link router. Been using for almost a month with no issues.
