If you need an extender/repeater, this is good.

I am an IT consultant and have a fair amount of expertise with Wi-Fi. I have a client that wanted Wi-Fi in a building that was separate from his office about 50' away. The majority of Wi-Fi repeaters are single band and the problem with them is that you get a halving of the throughput because the same channel is used communicating with the main router and communicating with a device like a laptop. This Netgear has both bands so you can use the 2.4GHz band to talk to the router and the 5GHz band to service the laptop which results in better performance. The Netgear has a minor inconvenience when it comes to naming the wireless network (SSID). If your main router's SSID is named MYWIRELESS, the repeated signal cannot be named MYWIRELESS. You have to name it something like MYWIRELESS_2. This means that your laptop has to be set up to connect to both MYWIRELESS and MYWIRELESS_2. Some other repeaters on the market do not hit you with this inconvenience; you can name the main and repeated SSIDs the same. Also, I think the Netgear is a little on the pricey side compared to other repeaters. Still, because it is relatively easy to set up, I have to recommend it.

Once installed works great. It took me a bit to set up but I didn't read the instructions very well prior. If you follow the instructions it will be a snap.

I really had in mind that I would set this thing up using the same network name as my router so that I could roam around the house and allow my devices to switch between connection points as required, and after reading other reviews and comments in the Netgear forums I did give it a try, but the operation seemed flaky to me (perhaps because it insisted on using the same channel), so I switched it back to its default, with a different name. As it turns out, that's not nearly as inconvenient as I had feared, and I am happy with the performance. Our house is not large, about 2100 sq ft, but the router is all the way in one corner, so the 2.4 signal was very weak in our bedroom on the opposite end of the house (5.0 signal was non-existent). I placed the extender in the AV cabinet in the Living Room, in the middle of the house, and our signal is fine in the bedroom, both frequencies. And since the extender is in the middle of the house, our devices rarely attach to the router anymore, they just stay attached to the extender. Speed is fine, keeping in mind that our DSL line (10M) is slower than 4G LTE, so I oftento use cellular instead of wifi, which certainly isn't the extender's fault. Our wireless devices include Samsung S3, iPhone 5, Xoom, iPad 3, Nook Color, and an old Toshiba laptop ... haven't shifted the Wii to it yet. And when our son and his family visit, they have myriad devices that they bring with them also. I'd still buy it again, given what I know now ...

Easy to set up. Used it right out of the box. I had a little difficult time setting up the stands, then laughed at myself because it was easier than I thought

Needed to find a solution for my Wi-Fi range problem...the Netgear range extender provided the perfect solution. Not only did it provide the range needed for a better reception, it also provided 4 ethernet ports which allowed the connection of a Roku player and a desktop computer. The best part was the ease of set up.

Worked right out of the box with a very easy set up. I am using it to pipe Wifi into my network. It has 4 ethernet ports and it had no trouble hooking up my two Windows Machines (Win 10, Win 7) and my Linux Mint machine.

Had an earlier NetGear RangeExtender. This new one works better, connects better and holds the signal better - in an apartment building/through walls!

The only thing that seems to happen is that connection gets lost and I have to reset it. Frustrating when out of town, and try to use the connection.

Our internet hook up was upstairs in our house and we couldn't get good internet connection downstairs in our bedroom. After installing Netgear we were able to stream videos and play Xbox live with lightening fast speeds. Works Great!!!

This was easy to setup and replaced a USB wireless adapter. Having four Ethernet ports available is great, as my kids friends can bring their devices over and wire them in for LAN action without clogging up the wireless in the house.

I bought a Linksys RE1000 which was horrible and I returned it and the best buy rep asked me a few questions and recommended this netgear range extender. It was very easy to set up. All I did was plug it in, went to the internet browser & the netgear set up page came out. I reviewed it and connected the range extender to my existing Wi-Fi modem & BAM! I have strong Wi-Fi signal in every point of my house. That's how simple set up was & I have not lost any connectivity. It's fast, it creates its own SSID & you can customize it to your liking.

purchase this as a way to extend my internet to the other sides of my home. It functions pretty well and does provide decent coverage. The setup was easy for the most part when linking to my main wireless router. A few area are spotty near this equipment, but I think it has more to do with the other wireless things I have in that room.

I bought this to replace an older model that was only one 2.4 ghz signal. This one is way better at keeping signal, although the router i have is not really good. Definitely a good choice for anyone needing internet when the device doesn't have wireless. It even has 4 ports so you can have multiple things plugged in for internet.

Added the extender so the wifi would reach the deck. Very easy set up and we now get a full signal at the back of the yard. It has the option to have multiple options based on the different frequencies the router puts out so you can choose the best signal and potentially switch as conditions change. Good moderate priced solution
