Customers are saying

Customers are pleased with the Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender's ease of use, Wi-Fi range, and signal strength. Many appreciate its quick setup, compact size, and good performance for the price. However, some experienced connection instability, and compatibility issues were also reported by a few users. The Ethernet port was a welcome feature for some.

Was looking for a WiFi extender so I could get the internet on an old desktop computer in my shop. I bought this along with the Netgear - N300 Wireless-N USB Adapter and both were simple to set up and work great! My shop is a cinder-block constructed building about 50 feet from the room in my house where I have the extender plugged in. I was also pleasantly surprised to find out my smart phone is able to pick up the extended WiFi signal about 100 feet away in our backyard!

It does the job we need it to do: be able to stream and play xbox in a bedroom far from router. There is a clear loss of speed (100mbps to 30mbps) but the distance is pretty far with a few walls in the way. We had almost no connection before the extender. Not bad.

Good wifi extender, but must update firmware

While there are several reviews for this wifi extender, I'd like to reiterate the absolute need to update the firmware on this unit before using it and to add an additional trick. Do this by connecting a computer to it via the ethernet port. Download the firmware image from Netgear and follow their instructions. Also be aware that it will likely not show the completion of the firmware update, but mine updated anyway. You'll know it when you see a different html login screen. Also, none of the reviews mentioned another trick. If you continue to have connection stability issues, check to see which wireless channel is least used in your area. For me, the Netgear wireless base router was auto selecting a very crowded channel (6). I chose a channel that was not used in my area. On a mac running Yosemite or El Capitan, the ability to check channel usage is built in (yeah Mac). Just Google for how to do this. I chose a non-used channel and the thing has worked very well ever since.

This was one of those I wasn't really looking for this, but glad I saw it in the store kind of things. I work in an area where I get good internet in my office, but lose signal strength quickly in different parts of the office. I wasn't really sure how this would work but I'm glad I bought it. It's extremely easy to set up. You can extend your wifi network or create a new one with different password. It's extremely reliable and it's as easy as plugging it in!

These range extenders really do what they said they would. My signal strength is right where I need it to be. Easy installation and small enough to not be an eyesoar.

Product eliminated wifi dead zones in house

I purchased this product to boost the range of my wireless router. I had a dead zone in part of the house where I received little or no signal from my wireless router. This product simply plugs into a receptacle and boosts your wifi signal, after a little experimenting by plugging it into different receptacles and checking signal strength I found the best location which gave me maximum signal strength. The instructions provided are easy to understand and follow, if you have ever logged onto any wifi hotspot with a portable device you will have no problem setting up this product. You will need to have a wireless device that you can connect to the Internet with for the initial setup.

Great product that works with basically any current wireless routers out there. We use this to bounce wifi from our upstairs office to the bar/restaurant downstairs. works great! set up was very easy, basically plug it in, push a button and you're good to go. i will say that you will need to power cycle it on occasion as it will lose connectivity every couple of weeks or so, but it keeps a strong signal and really does the job better than those higher priced alternaties.

It wasn't as easy as described to set up but that was due to my wireless provider. Once I got tech support and settings changed from them, it was a quick and easy process. It made an immediate difference in signal strength and I have not experienced any interruptions since installing.

well, it does what its intended for and now I am able to get reliable wifi out in the garage where my office is set up. Pretty damm happy about it. Works surprising well, especially for the price - works well enough to stream videos and movies no problem. Was able to get it to connect to the router via the WPS button thing pretty easily also. Nice thing is that you can easily move it around since it just plugs into an outlet (or extension cord) and just needs to be in range of the router - which the little LED light will tell you- so can easily use it in several areas of the house if so desired by just unplugging it and plugging it in elsewhere.

My garage is about 80 feet from my house and I could not get reception for pandora on my phone. After putting this in at my garage it works great. My friend bought one for his garage and it works great also but may be a little slower speed on his computer.

Easy to install and use. Be careful not to rename it the same as your actual network unless you're using it as an access point. Otherwise, you can make set-up more complicated than it has to be. It is definitely helping my situation where airplanes were knocking out my wifi signal on the 2nd floor of my home and disrupting work Teams calls. I ended up defaulting the devices closest to it to connect to the extended network automatically and so far so good!

This product was easy to setup. It is relatively inexpensive and extends home wifi range effectively. This is the second time I purchased this product. Unfortuately, the originally purchased hardware stopped working after only 16 months. Since I was satisfied with it except for the short lifespan and I was reluctant to invest a large chunck of time in replacement, I decided to give it another try hoping it last longer the second time. The setup of the replacement was a breeze; however, if the second piece of equipment also has a short lifespan, I likely will purchase something else to replace it.

We are happy with the wifi range extender and use on the second floor of our house - it easily plugs into standard electrical outlets and when plugged into the bottom outlet does not block the top outlet. The antennas can be easily adjusted to boost signal strength and quick start guide is easy to follow. I like the constant status provided by the lights at the bottom of the device, so I can easily see if the wifi strength is down or offline entirely.
