Customers are pleased with the Universal Wi-Fi Range Extender's ease of use, Wi-Fi range, and signal strength. Many appreciate its quick setup, compact size, and good performance for the price. However, some experienced connection instability, and compatibility issues were also reported by a few users. The Ethernet port was a welcome feature for some.

This WiFi extender saved me alto of money by avoiding extra installation just to use my Blu-Rays wired streaming capabilities. Just had to sink it near the Router, then relocate to where I needed it, plug in the Ethernet cable (not included) and done.

In a span of about a year, I purchased 2 of these babies. I am using ATT DSL and the speeds are ridiculously slow (wired and wifi) for my area. We pay for 12MBPS and get about 3-7MBPS consistently. The signal in our 2 story home is extremely weak in various parts of our home. I bought this and programmed it, then plugged it into a power surge protector in our bedroom closet so we can use the wifi for my PS4 to stream youtube/netflix and play games. Without this thing, we get about 3mps and about 1-2 bars on our devices/PS4. With it, the PS4 reads 7mps consistently whenever I run a network test and we have full bars. Essentially, It's like having the modem/router in the same room as us. What this device does is it connects to your main wireless network for your home/work space (wherever you're using it), and makes it project the same quality/strength signal to wherever you need it. The setup is sort of tricky if you're not computer savvy. I am seasoned in my ability to manually login to routers/modems, change the wireless ID and password(s) and edit the options (channels, mtu, etc). It took me a few minutes to complete the initial setup which requires you to plug it next to your computer and go through the steps (that they provide) to connect the device TO your wifi network. It's pretty much like connecting a router to a modem. Then, you can take the device anywhere in your home (where the original wifi signal can be detected-even if just a little) and then connect your electronic devices to the extender as if it was the wifi network itself. To take it a step further, I tried connecting a second extender to my 1st extender. I set the second one up in my backyard (in our in-law unit) and connected it to my first device (the one in my closet) and low and behold, I had full a strength 5 bar signal to my iphone--where it previously had 1 bar to NO connection (to neither the original wifi nor to the 1st device in my bedroom closet). If you're still reading at this point, then you are a trooper. I like to be detailed though it may be boring and wordy. I just strive to give the most honest and straight forward opinions I can so that it can help others who are in a situation that I used to be in. Lastly, the price is very fair. We use the device in our bedroom EVERY day. It's been over a year and it's still running VERY strong and consistent. Great product and would recommend it to anyone who is on the cusp of smashing their modem/router and/or calling their internet service provider to give them a piece of mind. I purposely shared my bandwidth to give an honest review of this product based on my low internet speeds. If you have fiber optic speeds with xfinity/comcast...well you will not be disappointed. Hope this helps and thank you for taking time to read this review. Best of luck!

Not everything I hoped for, but good enough

Setting the device up was easy enough. My specific need was to extend wireless to a part of the home that didn't get coverage by my Wireless Router (i.e. it is connected to my network via copper). I had hoped that it would be able to support all three of my SSID's (a/n, b/g/n, and a visitor b/g). Sadly, no. I also would have preferred to just used the same SSID and key, but followed their recommendation not to. But, in spite of these few shortcomings, it has provided solid wireless b/g/n wireless access in the previously dead-zone.

We have a remote computer with a need for internet access. After having been through two USB type devices with fair performance I decided to improve it. After studying the possibilities I purchased this range extender due to it's built in ethernet port. I spent 5 minutes setting it up, and have completely forgotten about it. So far it has worked flawlessly with more than acceptable performance.

Unfortunately my wifi provider isn't great so I can't tell if there any problem with my extender or it's my service provider. Generally I think it's my provider. The range extender was easy to install, is low profile and easily manages multiple devices and is priced well. What more could you want?

On advice of Geek Squad Member at store we purchased this model rather than a more costly one as he said he was sure it would work for us. It worked exactly as he said it would and has solved the range problem my wife was experiencing with her Mini I Pad. I use an Apple Extreme Airport and it has boosted the signal enough that she can now sit and read on her device out by the pool and just about anywhere in the whole house. Before she was restricted to only two chairs! Now that we have it I don't know how we managed without it. It was simple to install and exactly as the Geek Squad Member who serviced us at the S. Rainbow store here in Las Vegas said to do it. No hidden surprises. My wife has become super protective of it when ever anyone strays near where it is plugged into the wall electrical outlet. Being wireless it allows for a great deal of flexibility of were you put it. When we rearranged furniture I had to move it over my wife's heavy objections that it would ruin it. I unplugged it, moved it to the new location, plugged it back in and after re-establishing contact with the main station all of it's lights lit up showing it was working. Of course she had to grab her Mini I Pad and check to make sure it still reached all the new locations she had to use it from and it did! Great addition to any network, especially in a small office or home!

    Used for two story condo

We purchased this to extend the wifi in our condo upstairs. Setup was relatively simple. The instructions do not mention consolidating the access points into one network. The extender will take your existing wifi SSID and add "_ext" on the end of it. Not a big deal if you want to keep the two separate. However, our goal was to seamlessly switch between the better connection. So we were able to rename the extender to the exact name of our wifi/SSID. The signal seemed stronger - but did not notice any differences in speed. We ended up returning the product. Summary: It does its job. Just did not serve desired purpose in our home.

Helpful gadget for extending WiFi range

This device worked like a charm. You have the ability to either extend your current WiFI network when it is connected via the Ethernet port on your home router, or, you can create a second WiFI network that acts like a separate network that provides access in your areas dead-spot. All you need is a power outlet that is in the area that you wish to add network access. I chose to have a separate network added where my home router has poor reception, although I am forced to choose which network is best when I roam though the house. Ideally, this device should be connected with an Ethernet cable so that you have one network providing access throughout your areas. You do not need the more expensive devices that are available in order to get the results that you require. This is a great solution and handy device that I would consider purchasing again when the opportunity presents itself.

I purchased this for my 3 story home where we have issues with my Netgear WNR3500 router would not reach with a good signal. After arriving home I plugged in the device into the wall, pushed the button on the front of my WNR3500 and BOOM! it all worked like magic. I get full bars of signal now in my entire house. Excellent price, good quality, good job netgear.

I bought this unit to get good Wi-Fi reception in an area of the house that had very poor signal strength. The Netgear unit was very simple to set up and synchronize with the main Wi-Fi modem. After setup the results were excellent. High signal strength where before it had been poor - basically before was 1 bar signal level, and after it was 4 bar strength. This is a very good product that is very reasonably priced.

I had tried cheaper devices to try to pick up a stronger wifi signal, but to no avail. I truly did not expect this device to do any better, or if it did, not a good improvement. I was quite surprised to find that it really does increase the signal power to my laptops, that had not worked until I used this device. I followed the directions for setting it up, and it pretty much did all the configuring on it's own. I powered it up within about 20 feet of the modem/router until the lights lit up, then I moved it to a point about midway to the problem laptops, and they picked up the increased wifi signal. For me, it works very well and I get plenty of signal now for all my devices. I'm not a gamer, but I do like to stream movies, and that works fine. It has crossed my mind that perhaps the costlier models might work even better, should your problem be more severe than mine? Just a thought. This one is perfect for my needs.

When using this device with the free smartphone app I was able to place it in the best spot to extend my wireless. The signal is strong and reliable. Fast throughput and EASY to set up with WPS. I plan on getting more to completely cover my yard and house. The only drawback I had was that the perfect "sweet spot" had no outlet to plug it in. I may install one there.

Wifi router is on second floor and caused a weak signal in yard and basement, placed this at end of weak signal as directed and the whole house and property are covered! Only drawback is slower speed which has not been as issue but will address with Netgear to see if there is any way to improve. Would definitely recommend.

I have read some reviews that said this product would extend range but not improve download speeds, so I wasn't sure if this was the right product for me. I use a laptop to stream movies and Skype my relatives. It was soooo frustrating to get choppy or dropped Skype calls and my videos were constantly buffering! NOT ANYMORE!!! After the easy installation I Skyped.......PERFECT. Streamed two movies......PERFECT. My signal went from two bars to five bars - awesome. I ran some before and after tests and was impressed (see pics below). Now, it's not screaming fast but it's a huge improvement.
