This system does just what I wanted it to do. No wires to run and very easy to install.

While this is a small compact system and has an easy setup, the video capture and quality is extremely poor. I could not distinguish between my son and his friend in a simple test. My son is 7 and his friend is 11 and much bigger. I have since returned this product.

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! Don't like the fact that I need to buy a membership to view cameras. Not worth the money I have installed NEW batteries 3 times and has been installed for less than a month!

I have 2 cameras pointing outside of a window. You would think that motion detection would work in this situation - it does NOT. Do not buy this for security, it amounts to nothing more than a toy. It is: very easy to set up, very compact in size, and very convenient. The night vision camera is not worth the extra money - the infrared is a separate electrical item. The infrared obviously would not last on a battery, so they made this compromise. You will be limited by the battery life, and BTW these batteries are not cheap. They claim if you used the camera for 5 minutes a day, the battery will last 6 months - that's a maximum of 15 hours. So basically the only use I can think appropriate is to aim this at a door front and see who is there AFTER they knock. Way too expensive for the limitations. BTW the motion detection does work if you pick the unit up - horrible. If this suits your needs: Day light, no motion detection, no need to record a view, and need no more than 2 cameras, then buy the cheapest cameras they offer. The bells and whistles are useless. You can monitor 2 cameras for free - after that there is an annual fee, which is really not worth it if the motion detection fails.

I didn't find what I was looking for online: a wireless and more discrete home monitoring system. A salesperson from the computer section at BB showed me the right product at a different section. This system is very easy to install. The Base Station is connected to home wireless router directly through provided Ethernet cable (no need for networking/password). The manufacture gives a 30-day trial for Premier service after setting up an account on its website. After the initial period, a basic service without monthly charge will work with only two cameras (I am not too sure what the Basic service will provide). The working distance for cameras seems to be adequate. The Night Vision Camera works very well in darkness, but one will need to plug in the provided Infrared Lamp to provide IR lighting. The video quality is not that great for details, but manageable to see things well in general. This would be good system for an average home use, like finding your home conditions, what kids are doing, etc. I have not tried the motion detection yet, but you can read other reviews for that. The cameras don't have to be on the wall mounts. The system is on sale this week at BB for $199.99.

Set these cameras up in 15mn with out one single issue. Super easy a 3 year old could do it. I just set them up but have recorded video already and the motion detection is working great on at least one of the cameras. The other once is pointed outside and I haven't set up the night vision light yet so it hasn't pick up anything. I'll add the my review after I have had them up for a bit.

Overall, the Vuezone system is innovative and simple to set up. The fact you can access from mobile devices through apps or web makes this system for light home surveillance. The motion sensor is key. Infrared system can be improved -- haven't found a specific use case in my home. I set up one camera overlooking my front door (get an email alert with snapshot when someone comes to the door and sets off motion detector). I wanted to use the infrared for this, but power source and indoor use limitation prevented me from doing so. I am using it without and the outdoor lights are enough to use at night. The other camera I keep in the garage to ensure that the door was not inadvertently left open. The advantage to this system is that it's expandable and the camera can be moved depending on specific needs. Pros: - Easy to set-up - Cross-device access through apps/web - Motion sensor and email alerts. Motion detector has sensitivity settings to limit "false alarms" -- some tweaking is needed to get settings right - Durable cameras and mounting system (for adjusting angles) Cons: - Wi-Fi range on edges of house has become an issue (because of camera and access point placement) - Infrared lamp system limits usage because it needs a power source and can only be placed inside - Camera access from app/site can be buggy -- sometimes it cannot establish a link to the camera ** Full disclosure: I was selected by Netgear to receive this product for free **
