Bought this router to network my TiVo into my Comcast home internet service. The instructions and set up were incredible easy and basically plug and play. Since it also it wireless, I added the Samsung Blueray player to the network too. Now we have two accounts with Netflix set up for streaming via TiVo and the blueray player.

I bought this router to replace another netgear router that was fried by lightning. It was so easy to setup - I recommend putting the CD aside and just plugging it in - it automatically detected my connection and was running in less than 10 minutes. The signal is even better than the previous netgear router.

I use this to connect on my laptop daily and haven't had any problems so far. I can go anywhere in my house and have a good connection. This was the cheapest one they had when I bought it and I haven't had any problems. I recently had in unhooked and didn't have any problem getting it all put back together.

I dont understand why some people having difficulty setting this up. It is fairly simple if you just take time and follow the instruction. I think this router was made for non IT individual'; just follow the 1, 2 and 3. Yup I dont know anything about network. Got it up and running approx. 25 minutes.

Bought this as a replacement for an older model. The cost was cheaper than renting for 3 months from the cable company. Last one lasted about 5 yrs. When you divide the cost by 60 months....what a bargain. Had no problems either.

This router was a great price, but it stopped working after only 1 year. It kept dropping the wireless signal and we could not use the internet unless directly plugged into the router. Very disappointed!

    Netgear technical support is appalling

The Netgear technical support is one of the most appalling I have ever encountered. I will provide details of my experience below, but suffice to say that if you contact them then you will be subjected to the following: 1) Very long hold times, 2) Multiple transfers with no resolution of your problem, 3) Extremely poor audio quality on their phone system (several steps down from the intercom at a typical fast food drive thru) and 4) A technical support team whose only goal is to sell you an extremely expensive extended warranty ($99 for one year, $69 for six months, $36 for a one time call; all for a wireless router that was originally only $45). My experience with Netgear has shown me that they simply do not care about their customers and I strongly encourage you to spend your money on something else. A competitor’s product may cost a little more, but it will save you considerable stress in the long run. The wireless router that I purchased from Netgear, along with wireless receiver cards, worked adequately but there were some minor issues. Still, I was pleased with the system. The wireless router was initially setup to run from an Ethernet connection to my desktop computer. When the Ethernet port failed on this machine, the Verizon technical support (my DSL provider) helped to change the settings on the modem to run in bridge mode, so that the wireless router would no longer require the Ethernet cable. Once the modem was set up, Verizon transferred me to Netgear so they could help me to set up the wireless router in bridge mode too. The sound quality of Netgear’s technical support phone system is terrible. I found it extremely difficult to understand anything that was said which led to a great deal of frustration. I was on hold for approximately 5 to 10 minutes before someone answered (not unreasonable). It took a long time to parse out what the technician was saying, but eventually I understood that he wanted the serial number from my wireless router. Then he told me that my warranty had expired and I would need to purchase an extended warranty before he could help me. He transferred me to the warranty department where I was on hold for another 5 to 10 minutes. The cost of my wireless router was originally around $45, so I was shocked when the woman at the warranty department offered the following extended warranties: $99 for one year, $69 for six months and $36 for a one time call. When I balked at these prices, she agreed to let me have the one time call for free and transferred me back to the technical support. This time I was on hold for approximately 20 minutes. With the extremely poor sound of their phone system it was hard to tell, but the person who finally answered sounded like the same person that I had talked to in the first place. The conversation went much the same way. He asked for my information and then told me that my warranty had expired. I explained that the warranty department had agreed to let me call once for free. He said something else which I did not understand and then transferred me back to the warranty department. I was on hold for another 10 minutes or so before someone answered. Now the sound quality had become so bad that it was impossible to understand more than a syllable or two. The woman at the warranty department took my phone number, disconnected and then called me back. The new connection was a little clearer and I recognized her voice from the first time I had talked to the warranty department. I explained that technical support had sent me back to her and she proceeded to try and sell me an extended warranty again. I stopped her and said that she had already agreed to let me have a one-time call for free and she responded by saying that it would not be possible to do that. At that point I was very frustrated and said that I could not imagine actually paying for the type of service that I had experienced that night. Her response was, “Thank you for calling Netgear. Good night,” and then she hung up on me. My solution to this problem will be very simple: I am going to buy a new wireless router from some other company. In fact, I have no intention of ever buying another Netgear product again. If their technical support is any indication, then they have no regard for their customers at all and so buying a Netgear product is simply a waste of money.

This router works great. To set-up I only had to pop in the CD and follow the directions. Have had no issues in the two years that I have had it. Full disclosure: I only use it for my Wii and just recently got a netbook that I have not noticed any speed or other performance issues.

Since I don't have a disk drive it made it a little more difficult to get it set up. But when i finally was able to get it set up after 3 installs and re installs I got it up and working. I have cox 15 mb per sec internet package and though i understand that the speed will not be as high as it would be with it plugged in I would expect better then what i got. I ran the speed test while connected through the ethernet cable and i was running 14.9 mb per sec. I ran a speed test while connected to the internet wirelessly through the router and I was running .5 yes .5 mb per sec. This is definitely unacceptable. I have talked to a few of my friends who have the same internet package I have and they are running well over 10 MB per sec wirelessly. They are both using link sys. I think i will have to give that a try.

Its a good product. I actually had this encrypted so no one else in the dorm can get a free connection.lol. Every now and then my laptop may lose a connection with the router but I actually like this. It is also compatible with systems as old as Windows 98.

I'm usually the person who can always figure out how to set things up. This took me all night. It was pretty complex and the directions were not clear for most people. But now that I FINALLY found out how to get it to work for two laptops, it is great!

Great wireless router and very simple to set up. Once all the wires are plugged into the rightful port, just open up your web browser and it goes to the set-up page for you. You can't beat that. It was up and running in about 3 minutes and 47 seconds.
