I purchased the New 3DS XL as a replacement/upgrade to my original 3DS system. The new version is a vast improvement on the old design. The screen is sharper and clearer. Battery life is better. Most importantly the system tracks your eyes/face so that you do not lose the 3D effect when you tilt the system or your head while playing. Overall very happy with the purchase

I can't ever put my new 3ds down its a blast to play on can't get enough of it especially because you can play the DS games on it which you can buy for a dollar or two at a lot of places. And also you can play the new 3DS games and even the New 3DS only games which is awesome!!! the new 3D eye tracker works really well and makes the 3D more clear and the new circle pad is awesome to a little weird at first but when you figure it out, it helps a whole whole lot!

If you've already got a 3DSXL, don't bother getting this unless you desperately need Amiibo support for some reason (supposedly an adapter for them is coming out this year for older models.) or are a huge 3D nut (like me!) If you don't minds playing your games in 2D, I can honestly say that it might not be worth your time. That said, the way that they have updated their 3D tech to work from more than a single degree of viewing angle is pretty impressive. c-nub is nice, but kind of wish it was another pad, not a major complaint as it works much better than I thought it would. The definitive version of the 3DS IMO, but if you've already got an XL, maybe just shell out the 30 bucks needed to import a Circle Pad pro LL (The Japanese version will work on US 3DS)

Great new system. The size is great and the 2 cameras make the 3D function so much more comfortable on the eyes.

I've had my New 3DS for a few months now, and I really enjoy it. I bought it to enjoy classic NES games and others via the eShop, for its Nintendo DS backward compatibility, and to check out what the 3D effect was all about. I was surprised by how much the 3D enhances the gaming experience! Games like Monster Hunter 4, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, and even Galaxy Force II and Kokuga from the eShop become completely different experiences in 3D. Overall, I prefer the resolution and horsepower afforded by the PS Vita (which I also own), but there is a lot of fun to be had with Nintendo's handheld.

I was not a fan of the 3D format on the previous 3DS but on this version it really works. It takes a bit to get used to some of the new configurations but they become natural in a while. I cannot tell any difference regarding processing power but downloads are faster. The transferring of one's information is a hassle but it only too 30 mins if you use a PC. I also bought a 8GB micro card to install at the same time. I recommend to anyone who is yet to buy a 3DS.

The increase in screen size makes it easy to play. The new interactive 3D that adjusts to your position is amazing. Only gripe is it did not come packaged with a charger my daughter can only charge her 3ds or 3ds xl but not both at the same time, luckily the chargers are the same.

Upgraded from the standard 3ds and am happy with the choice. 3d feature is improved immensely. Add that in with the extra c-stick and it justifies the purchase. Only negative is that it doesn't come with a charger.

The New Nintendo 3DS XL is an awesome gaming experience in the palm of your hand. Although the Nintendo Switch has stolen the spotlight this year, don't think that the 3DS is dead quite yet. With awesome games released in 2017, including Dragon Quest VIII, Miitopia, Metroid: Samus Returns, Mario Party 100-to-1, and Pokémon Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, the 3DS is poised to remain a family favorite into 2018 and beyond.

I don't know what to say about the console itself, it's an improvement over the old one and the library of games is pretty great so overall it's a great console if you have never owned a 3DS before or if you are upgrading. What I want to mention though is that I think it requires too many accessories and comes with none, it does not even have a charger. For a $200 system you can easily tack on another $50-100 or more on top of that just for accessories, some of which you have to import from Japan because they are just not available in the states, yet. Overall it's a big pain in the butt.

This is my first gameboy so hard to compare to the previous versions but I love it. It is already fun to use and little learning curve. The only draw back was not coming with a charging cable which is unfortunate because I didnt have a previous DS to charge it with. All in all it was fun, just by yourself a charging cable if you don't own a previous version DS.

The Good: The new Super Stable 3D screen alone is almost reason enough for buying the New 3DS. When held side by side with the old unit it's like watching HD next to old school analog TV. The Irritating: the surface is a fingerprint magnet. I have dry hands and it still managed to pull fingerprints. (Black) Now the bad: (the price) NO AC ADAPTER. Not even a USB cable! How Nintendo can keep bringing the great and the fail at the same time just boggles the mind. I have already complained to the state Consumer Affairs department and I would suggest everyone else do the same. It's be okay if it was an industry standard port but it's not and for those who are entering Nintendoland for the first time it's going to be a rude shock.

For those craving fun and unique game play, etc, New 3DS is the way to go. It has tons of improvements from the older version with a better screen, better 3D, stronger CPU. It gets you to your gaming experience quicker and stay charged longer. I rarely go a day without playing and Nintendo has apps you can download that keep you coming day after day.

I bought this as an upgrade to my original 3DS. The new analog nub works great and the battery lasts quite a bit longer. Overall the system performance has improved and everything runs smoother. I do wish the screen was sharper, it's a larger screen with the same number of pixels. The built-in NFC is a nice touch that I hope will be used beyond just the Amiibos. This system is to the 3DS what the Gameboy Color was to the original Gameboy.

The answer is YES. C-stick control, face tracking 3D and way faster processing power mean that this is the 3DS to own. The 3D was almost unplayable on the previous version but the new one eliminates the need to hold the system completely still and thereby eliminates the inevitable headache that occurred as a result. The C-stick makes it feel like other console games that have two analog sticks. A must buy for any Nintendo fan!
