Much better 3D over previous version

The New 3DS is a big improvement over the previous generation of hardware. The home screen loads much faster and the new face-tracking 3D works well enough that you can leave the 3D on all the time without any flickering or other motion artifacts when you move the system around for games that require the gyroscope. The transfer process from the old system is a pain, though, and be sure to pick up an AC charger (unless you already have one from an old system) since there isn't one packed in the box. Even with those minor hassles, this is an easy recommendation to purchase.

Last portal Nintendo system I owned was the original DS before this, used other people's 3DS systems before but they always felt so tiny til the XL ones came out. Always thought they were to big but once I have my hands on it for awhile it a good size. Great screen, love the face-tracking cameras to auto adjust the 3D view for you. Turned it off all the way then back on only take maybe 2-3 seconds which is insanely quick to me. Only down side is to use a larger SD card for storage you have to unscrew the backplate but still that pretty simple & painless thankfully.

I had the original 3DS before getting this one and wasn't sure if it was worth upgrading, but I'm mostly glad I did. If you like 3D, or would have liked it if you could have gotten the image to stay stable, that's a good reason to upgrade, because the 3D works much better here. Other than that, there is an analog nub for camera controls in certain games and two extra shoulder buttons. The processor is also faster. The main issue with most of these improvements is that most games don't make use of them. Not yet anyway. But there are a number of games that you absolutely can't play on the original 3DS because the processor couldn't handle it, but developers were able to get them running on this new system. Probably fewer than 10 altogether though. In summary, if you have a 3DS XL, the only noteworthy improvement here is the 3D. All the other new features require games that use them, and not many games do at the moment.

As someone who owned the original 3ds, this upgrade was 100% worth it. Do you need the new 3ds if you've already got one? No; however, if you've got the money to spend and are looking for an enhanced mobile gaming experience, this is the jackpot. The system is small enough to fit in a jacket pocket and seems very durable as well. The new enhanced 3d works very well. The battery life is great. Transferring data is very easy via a Wifi network. I'm not one to use amiibos so I can not comment on that front, but the increased processing power is very noticeable.

Same design with added shoulder buttons & analog nub/stick. Longer battery life & drastically improved 3D. The 3D is truly amazing because it works nearly flawless from any angle. The true power & improvement is in the handhelds upgraded o.s. The Home screen, games & apps load insanely fast now. No more waiting 1 minute just to see a Smash Bros logo. Now it's like 5 seconds & you are actually playing the game. Excellent 3rd version of the 3DS

If you're thinking of getting a 3DS system, the "New" Nintendo 3DS is the one to get. The face tracking 3D makes this a real treat to play and the C-Stick nub, which does take some getting used to, is a real bonus as well. As more games come out that take advantage of the new specs, you'll be glad you went for the "new". Another item that no one seems to talk about is the sound. The sound is way better on this 3DS than on the previous models. This is a great system and if you're on the fence, pull the trigger. There's a lot of gaming to be done here.

I never owned my own 3DS, always had to use my brother's, but when I heard that this updated version of the 3DS was gonna come out, I immediately got excited. It's super fast, much faster than the older 3DS and 3DS XL models, and I LOVE playing with the 3D on at all times now. Before, shaking the handheld console would lose the focus on the 3D, but this New 3DS XL now follows your eyes as you move or shake the system with your hands while you play your game. I really recommend this New 3DS XL, and maybe Smah Bros. as your beginning game.

The New 3DS XL has finally been released state side and does it stand up to the hype? To the average consumer who doesnt import all their consoles from japan, and if you have yet to upgrade your normal 3DS or DS, yes it does. Pros; Nice screen Fast start up/Launches apps quicker 3D is amazing, much better than the predecessors. Big enough for big hands Cons; It doesnt include a charger. Whats up with that? top screen hinges feel a little weak. My screen shakes if i shake my 3DS XL which makes me feel uncomfortable. Data transfer is annoying from old ds to new ds, it'll take at least half an hour to set it all up. Then it'll take like 2 hours (give or take on the amount of downloads you have on you memory card) to transfer all the data. Anyways., besides those little things that bugged me its a great console and i cant wait to see what games they release for it in the future.

I had the previous 3DS XL and the new model has improved a lot over it's predecessor. The 3D is more stable, where any bump or slight movement doesn't make the 3D blurry. Because of that I now play all my games using the 3D. I had my doubts on the new c-stick, but it works really well as a second analog stick. The volume control got placed up on the second screen, which is great since now I don't accidentally change the volume when playing. Overall I have enjoyed it much more than the last model and would highly recommend it!

I love my new Nintendo 3DS XL, it reminds me of playing my old game boy! I just wish the console came in colors other than red or black and that it came with a charger. Large screens and 3D are super clear and built in amiibo sensor are a plus!

The New 3DS XL comes in at a decent price and offers quite the upgrade to the previous edition. Eye tracking 3D greatly helps with the 3D viewing range, and it works fairly well with my super-glaring glasses as well. The extra processing power helps with the speed of background/home functions, download speeds, and prevents the occasional lag some titles used to suffer when in 3D mode. The extra controls step this portable up to a console's level of control. The only down side is that a power adapter is not included.

The New Nintendo 3DS XL is an improvement over the original 3DS and 3DS XL in every single way!!! The face tracking 3D, faster processing, and longer battery life make this easily the best handheld gaming device ever! I would recommend the New 3DS to anyone who has an older 3DS, or anyone who is finally ready to purchase the best handheld out there! Stop reading this, and get the darn thing right now! : D

Original 3DS XL was great - New one is better

I already owned a 3DS XL, but i upgraded to the new one and I'm glad I did for the following reasons: - The head tracking for the 3D is excellent. On my previous 3DS I never bothered to turn on the 3D because it required you to keep your head and the system fairly stable to enjoy the 3D effect. I found that to be a little annoying, especially when playing on the go because you will inevitably be moving around while you play. The head tracking makes that a non-issue. Since I have been using the new 3DS XL, I have been playing with the 3D on fulltime and I have almost never had a problem. - Everything loads much faster on the new one. This includes starting the games up, returning from sleep mode, powering on, opening apps, or pretty much anything else you can think of opens faster. - Faster WiFi. On the original model games took a long time to download over WiFi. On this model they download just as fast as similar sized downloads on my PC. This is important because digital versions of games are much better than the cartridge versions on a portable system like this. You don't want to be carrying around extra cartridge games that can get lost or stolen when you can just download the electronic version from the eshop and never have to worry about it. -The new C stick is nice, but my finger does keep thinking it is one of the buttons because it is the same size. I am sure I will get used to it soon though. The only bad thing I have found about the new system so far is that you do not get Club Nintendo points for the purchase. I know club nintendo is going away (or changing to a new reward system) this summer, but I wish I could have gotten some points for this purchase so I could get one more final reward. NOTE: If you do not already own a 3DS or DSi system you will need to buy a power adapter for the new 3DS XL. I already had 3 or 4 from previous systems lying around but if this is your first system you will need to make sure to get one of those, otherwise you will not be able to charge it.

The new 3dsxl is a great buy for on the move gaming. Well worth the money I have yet to put it down for too long. I enjoy the games that are made for it. There aren't too many titles that require the new 3dsxl but I have seen a few, but for now the c stick and z buttons are decorative. The speed is well worth the price. Pros: great titles to play Very quick SD slot is now in the case easy to get to cons: No charger I REPEAT NO CHARGER comes with the system. Yet to find another flaw so far

This is a great product if you don't already own a 3DS XL - i feel like the upgrade would be very minimal if you already have a 3DS XL. The 3D is better and the processor is a little better, but it is hard to justify 200 dollars for minimal upgrades. In addition, the C-Stick on it is INCREDIBLY stiff and I do not like it at all - it doesn't actually move, you just have to push it. Not a fan of the new c stick

My son already had a Nintendo 3DS. The older version has a smaller screen and 3D capability. This new one is bigger and better. The screen is bigger, no more squinting to read the tiny print. The actual game console is bigger so, unfortunately if you have a carrying case from a previous version, you will have to buy a new one that fits the new 3DS XL. The graphics are super clear and crisp. It is definitely an upgrade from previous versions. My son really enjoys it!!

I bought my original cosmo black 3ds around may 2011 and it lasted me quite a while. But after almost 5 years I felt like I needed an upgrade from that tiny screen and size. I did not mine the resolution stretch at all because what mattered in the end is that I could read bigger text and manipulate controls on touchscreen intensive programs. The faster processor is an added bonus plus an optional c stick for any game that originally used the circle pad pro.
