    Best way to play 3DS

The 2DSXL is slim, light weight, and has big beautiful screens. I had an original 3DS and I'm glad I chose this as my upgrade. The stylus is pretty small, it feels like a golf pencil, but this is a minor complaint. Recommended for anyone who doesn't mind playing 3DS games without 3D.

This was purchased as a birthday gift for my daughter to replace the one she has had for over 5 years. The hinge finally broke on the old one (a 3DS). She doesn’t miss the 3D. In fact, she kept it turned off most of the time on the old one. This new 2DS is sleek, easy to hold and has a great picture.

    A Nice compromise

I own a New 3DS XL and have gamed quite a lot on the original 2DS as well. The New 2DS XL is a nice compromise between cost and functionality. It has the superior clamshell design and larger screen but a little cheaper cost. My screen also looks great and seems clearer then my 3DS model does. Cons to me are its tiny stylus makes my adult hands hard to hold. It also does feel a bit cheaper and less rugged to me, but I also used the Zelda protector shell on the 3DS so maybe not. I also do not like the game slot cover, but I can see kids maybe loosing games from the 3DS slot. I have never had that happen. Nice bonus is it comes with the charger and the micro SD can be accessed without a screwdriver. I bought it as a second system. I would still recomend the New 3DS XL over this but it over the original 2DS.

Got these for my sons as a Christmas gift and they have loved them. Setup was pretty straightforward and battery life has been terrific. My only issue has been when we put a screen protector on the lower screen we lost functionality of the joystick and toggle. After spending time researching, found out it was a common issue, once we removed it, it has worked flawlessly.

Great Way To Play 3DS Games

I've never had a 3DS, and I've never been one for the 3D effect on them, so this was a no brainer for me. Wanted a way to play 3DS games (and 3DS virtual console titles), but just never pulled the trigger on it. This is a perfect, compact (even though it says XL) way to play 3DS games, and I couldn't be happier. This is a super affordable version of the 3DS without the 3D option (hence the lower price tag), and it is great! The slide pad feels great, and I love the size of this portable. A little thinner and a little smaller overall than a 3DS XL, it fits nicely in my bag or in my pocket. Overall, if you don't have a 3DS, and you're looking to check out some 3DS games, and don't want to break the bank, I'd recommend this in a heartbeat.

Amazing handheld with a vast library of games. Affordable, lightweight, and portable without sacrificing screen size. I'm so glad that i upgraded from a 2DS. Upgrading amplified my enjoyment of playing 3ds games.

    A Great (Final?) Revision

The New Nintendo 2DS XL is a great system for all 3DS owners, new and old. Many improvements were made over previous models (easy access to the microSD card slot), and the system is remarkably light. My only gripe is that trying to change game cards became a bit more problematic with the protective cover.

My nephew loves it. The screen looks dated as heck but he doesn't seem to mind. It's pretty sturdy. After a few drops it's still working fine. It can hold a pretty good charge and lasts a while. Parental controls if you need em. It comes with a preinstalled SD card if you want to download games online.

Nintendo's best entry level offering yet

Many people are confused about the different handheld products for Nintendo, and I don't blame them one bit. Out of all the 2DS/3DS products though, you should only be looking at two: the New Nintendo 2DS XL and the New Nintendo 3DS XL (the regular New 3DS has been discontinued recently). These will both have amiibo support built in, and will be able to play every available game including the SNES stuff on Virtual Console. Choosing which to buy comes down to a few factors, so consider this: The New 2DS XL is $150 and comes with a charging cable, the New 3DS XL is $200 and does not have a charger. The New 2DS XL obviously will NOT have a 3D display, but still has the dual camera for 3D photos and AR cards. Strange. The New 2DS XL feels flimsy and light compared to the nicer build quality of the New 3DS XL, which has a glossy finish, and feels heftier and more solid. Both have very bright and good looking screens, both play all of the same games. So really, in my view this would be a great handheld to get for the kiddos as you're saving $60 (between the 3DS upgrade and charger), and the more plain casing is less to worry about getting scratched and dinged.

Seriously, if you do not care about the 3D (no one does) then get this system, its the best overall DS that's been made. Light, easy to hold and comfy, great screens and sound is fine with the new speakers. Way better to hold for longer than 5 minutes vs the 3DS XL! Also, comes with AC adapter for less than the 3DS system which doesn't even come with one! Buy this.

The system is great, has a long battery life, the bigger screen is easy to see. Controls work just as they should, easier to save games and system responds faster.

Love the colors! Very light. Feels much cheaper built than the original. I don’t care for where the home button is (left side) I’m used to the middle. I like the game cartridge close flap. Sound is a little cheap sounding too. But what do you expect for an affordable cute DS

This console is my favorite variant of the 3DS yet. I personally find the stereoscopic 3D effect distracting, and the New Nintendo 2DS XL does everything else that the 3DS can, while being less expensive. The screen is gorgeous and the buttons are nice and tactile.

Great colors and good screen resolution. Had a 3ds previously but never used the 3ds portion of it so getting the new 2DS XL worked out to my advantage. The C stick could use an upgrade to increase its size but overall the button locations are comfortable and easy to use. Having an external power button compared to the older 3DS internal power button is a great feature and moving the start and select buttons have provided for bigger screen viewing.
