This unit was a life-saver during the hotter days of the summer. Having a baby, it was nice to be able to cool the room down. Very easy setup/installation. My only negative comment is regarding the window adapter. It was too short to cover my entire window. Do I have extra large windows?

Couldn't be happier with this ac so far. Purchased for bedroom and it is quiet enough to allow a peaceful nights sleep. Does an excellent job of cooling approx. 200 sq.ft. (Ceilings are quite low in our 1780's old house). Although we haven't had the opportunity to use the heat pump yet, if it performs the way the ac does, this unit is a real keeper. Nice and slim, it tucks neatly in the corner.

Would recommend this product if you have no spot to put a conventional A/C on window, but be warn it does suck up more energy than usual. It is not an Energy Star so electric bill will be higher than usual, but other than that very easy to use and assemble.

Well, after reading many reviews, I thought this portable AC unit might be fine... It's a lot noisier than expected (I have a calibrated SPL meter, and it reads over 65dBA at 3-feet away) the factory rating is 52dB... whatever that must mean to them. If you don't mind the noise, it works GREAT!

I use this in my converted garage. I have a Jacuzzi tub in this room, and this AC/Heater dehumidifier keeps the room at a wonderful temp and keeps the moisture out. No Mold, or Mildew at all.

Frustrating but good for small spaces

I just got this in today. I have a vertical window in that you open it by moving it to the side, not up and down. So be aware that this is clearly designed for a horizontal window. I spend over an hour being frustrated. The kit itself would be very good IF the panels all have screw holes. The way it's designed, is that you take the extender and you put screws in ONE side of the panel and then just set it in the panel where the kit connects. You don't screw them together. If you're going to use this on a vertical window.... here are some tips.. Get some serious tape. Measure your window, set up the length you need and hardcore tape that bad boy. If you're like me, it will also be too short. The instructions show how another extender would work, but you only get one. My window is 48 inches high, and it clocked in at about 43-45 inches, give or take. That meant I had to make up for the space. I just jury-rigged some cardboard since it would mean buying another panel otherwise. So far it's working. I live in a studio apartment. I set the temp to 69, where I like it, once it started. I gotta say... it feels pretty cool in here (caveat that I have two massive ceiling fans always on. I wouldn't call it loud. I think it has the volume of any AC unit. So, it's pretty acceptable. So, so far, I like it, but I think the kit construction could use some serious foresight. It works fine, I'm sure, for horizontal windows, but it's rage-inducing if you don't have that. You could, I suspect, drill some holes in the panels and put them together yourself, but that would require me buying a drill, and more screws. Why do that when the company could just drill some additional holes on the other side of the extender, and then some additional holes in the panel so it's more secure? For the general price of it, another extender panel would be nice too.
