I have been following this product launch for a few years now and I am happy to say that it did not disappoint!
The setup was very intuitive and Nextbase didn't overlook any of the important details needed to guide someone through the process.
Not only will this dash cam capture the front of the car but also the cabin. I have two kiddos who tend to say the cutest things when my hands are full- problem solved. I have already uploaded a few clips and shared them with all of my friends.

Good when it chooses to work..

This dash cam is not worth the price I paid for it. There were so many issues with it in the year of owning this camera. For example, when I got into an accident and needed footage of the incident, the main camera failed to record the incident but the rear camera was able to record it. This is horrible considering how EXPENSIVE it is, and I shouldn't be expecting this from a camera I've spending over $1,000 on. Here are a list of issues with the camera AND company:
- Poor LTE service
- Poor customer service
- Rear camera occasionally doesn't work
- Front camera occasionally doesn't work
- Occasionally cannot connect to the camera
- Falsely captures incidents on occasion
- Some features advertised still not available
- Pricey subscription
These are the main issues that I've had with the camera since owning it. That being said, whenever you can get the camera to work properly, it's an amazing camera. I have a love hate relationship with it. Please save yourself the headache and buy a dash cam from a different company...

Easy set up, great features with an intuitive app. The negative reviews are from people who can't afford the subscription. You already spent $700 on the unit, what's another $200? Also, this is a work in progress which will only get better with time. If you want the best dash cam, this is it. I also have the 522GW. That cam is ok but the app is horrible. This cam with the app is great.

Poor Support, Non Functional at Install

Holy moley this has been a disaster.
Bought the IQ 4k from Best Buy. Had to wait 2 weeks for an available install slot because I didn't want to deal with running the wires.
Thing is installed, sort of works, rear camera doesn't register. Spend an hour hunting on the support website (where half the links don't work) and finally find a small blurb that says to update the firmware to get the rear camera working.
Firmware update fails halfway through. Now I have a red triangle with an exclamation point in the upper left hand corner and a cycling yellow circular arrows in the middle.
I reset the thing multiple times. I pull the power to it multiple times. No change.
Thinking its a network issue, I drive around to see if its just the strength of the coverage. No change.
I go back to Best Buy. The same technician has no idea what's going on. I get "that's never happened before" and "I've never seen that before." He proceeds to disconnect the camera from my account as he experiments, which only makes matters worse. Now he says I need to bring the car back in a week so he can look at it some more.
Try to call Support. No one answers. Just the same "we're looking for someone" message over and over.
I hunt through the website again and finally find the instructions to manually update the firmware through the memory card. I do this. I get the blue wrench, green check mark, it reboots, blue wrench again, green check mark. It takes about five minutes to do these updates. Reboots again.
No change, back to triangle and arrows.
I email support. I detail what has been going on. They ask for more information. I provide the information and a picture of the screen.
They email me back and tell me to reset it. Then reattach the camera to my account using the QR code. I reply that I've reset it multiple times and the QR code never comes up. Just the same image.
I don't get a reply. So I call them again. This time I get through.
After a long conversation where I have to explain everything again. Even after giving them the case code from the emails. They ask for the same info again. I point out that its in the email.
I ask if there is a way to connect the unit without the QR code, using the serial number. No. No way to do that. Unit is useless if it doesn't show the QR code.
Now they say they need to reset the unit remotely and that they need me to email them permission to reset it. Also to leave the unit on overnight for the reset.
I point out that it's got no network connection. They insist the remote reset will fix it. I do as they ask, send the email, leave the unit on.
The next morning I have an email asking for permission to reset the unit again. That the unit needs to have power and a network connection.
I reply with permission to reset the unit and again repeat the symbols and the lack of internet connection.
I go down to the car to check the unit. Still same state.
I call them and manage to get someone on the phone. They say I need to reset the unit. I explain again that I've done that, but I do it anyway. No change.
They repeat the unit needs a remote reset and must have power and an internet connection. I again tell them it has power and the red triangle and that it doesn't appear to have an internet connection.
Now they need to escalate the problem to the developers and get back to me eventually.
Add salt in the wound. The day after I pay (maybe even the day I paid) for the installation at Best Buy, they announce that the installation of this is free.

Great Upgrade Option

Needed a dash cam, chose the iQ based off a recommendation from a friend. So far it works pretty good, really like the stabilization feature, and it's nice that the video re-writes the oldest footage so you don't have to manually delete old content when your SD card fills up. Would recommend it to someone who's in the market for a dash cam!

Do keep in mind, even if the camera has the loop recording available so you do not have to worry about it getting full, however, in order to ensure the life of the SD card is able to perform to the best of its ability we always advise to perform regular formatting, every 2-3 weeks, you can do this from the app and would only take a couple of seconds.

A buddy of mine has this same setup in his car and it’s solid. My car’s built in camera recently died and the cost to fix it is outrageous. Looking forward to this upgrade. Plus, I finally have a dash cam to go along with the rear camera.

Priceless for families

Just put this in my newly driving 16 year old's car. I get push notifications for parking events, impacts, etc. Apparently the camera knows when someone is approaching the car and puts the video in the cloud...luckily havent needed that yet. Subscription for the 4g connection is free for 3minths so you can check it out.
